My landlady’s son found a dog on the streets in Mexico. She was barely a year old & covered in stab wounds & cigarette burns. His aunt (my landlady’s sister) a veterinarian there in Mexico, tended to the dog’s wounds, gave her all her vaccines & got all her paperwork together to travel back to the US. Her name’s Lucia. She plays a bit rough, HATES men (probably for good reason) & KILLED a full-grown raccoon last month, but is really the SWEETEST, most clever girl! We’re not worthy! ✌🏼

Sometimes, companies accept these "crazy" things in order to gain more clients and good press.
What a bunch of total legends you all are, from the people giving their all at the shelters to the pilots and everyone who handled the customs nightmare. And thank god you glossed over that one, any memory of the endless papers and officials still gives me palpitations. I adopted an international rescue three years ago not knowing that I'd be flying to Bahrain in the final days before COVID lockdown to get him home before the borders closed, it's the craziest thing I've done to date but it couldn't have been more worth it. The people at the shelter were some of the most incredible people I have ever met, scrambling to get as many dogs to their families before lockdowns and not knowing how long they'd have to suspend adoptions for or how to make space for any new arrivals in the meantime. And they did it all with so much grace and optimism. Thank you for shining a light on them! You made so many souls happy with this delightful stunt. And someone's been cutting onions around here...

This could be a real business idea. Lots of people rescue pets from overseas. If you can find 10 people for each trip, the cost could be very affordable for each rescue. You can also get donations and free marketing opportunities for a business like that.

To me, this is the only kind of online content that matters. So few people even think about the countless dogs suffering around them or anywhere else. You getting involved and using your platform to show others how important it is.... just, thank you so much. Please do more of this or anything that will help homeless animals. They were all so incredibly sweet and affectionate right from go, despite all they've been through... immediate trust and love - that's what makes them so special and yet they often go ignored. Held it mostly together until the end, seeing the video of Ajax. Ive rescued dogs just like him, and it breaks my heart to know so many suffer and never get to know that feeling of safety and love.

Wishing you all the best. I’m on my 5th rescue dog, and I always believe that my previous dog picks my next dog, as the dog I need and the dog that needs me. My current fella’s emotional state was a lot like Ajax’s as he had been abused for 6-9yrs, and two years later although occasionally he will still get scared, he is mostly a lot more confident, very loving to especially as I’m a man, and he is a bit more wary of Men, but I’ve had a badly abused dog before, and so you just have to take everything at their pace, and not rush them to your timetable. As they need to know that they can trust you, so always positive reinforcement, and lots of praise, and Consistency. I’m saying this because he is lying next to me on my bed, and your previous Dog doesn’t want you to be unhappy, and I really believe that they send you the right dog, when I scroll through rescue photos. Your beautiful loved companion wants you to have another companion to share your love with.

We rescued a dog from Beldi Refuge! In the summer of 2023 my family and I visited Morocco and saw first-hand how so many of the dogs are treated by the locals… and it’s not good. Not only are they hit by cars and sticks, but there are also regular ‘killings’ where locals will go round and intentionally shoot and / or poison the dogs en masse. Sometimes they’ll gather dogs up into a van and abandon them in the desert instead, where they die of starvation / dehydration. Many of the dogs will only live 1-2 years because of this. When we were there we had a lone street dog come up to us and follow us for an hour or more, just like Bibi with the family who adopted her in this video. We decided to rescue that dog and we’ve had our Nakia for around 4 months now. It’s honestly been the best thing we’ve ever done. These dogs are so happy and loving and all deserve to be loved and to live a full life. The truth is, the charities that care for the dogs are fighting a serious uphill battle and constantly need all the support and funding they can get. They pay for all the vet bills for all the dogs from their own pocket, not just for their regular jabs and treatments that they’d get at a vet in the UK, for example, but for serious surgeries and to treat cancer and nasty infections… as well as all the food to feed hundreds of dogs a day. The work they do is absolutely incredible. Not everyone will be able to rescue a dog from one of these charities, but if you can support financially at all, it’ll mean more of these dogs can get the care they need and live to eventually be rescued. Thank you for doing this Zac and team! ❤️

Senior tripod owner here! You can get a sling (cut down the sides of a tote bag) and put it around their torso (back half for back leg missing, and front half for front leg missing) and you can add some extra support almost as if you were the missing leg. (Almost like you're carrying a bag of shopping but your dog is the shopping LOL) It helps a lot with getting up the staires and in the car, and then for walks as they get older. Try to keep their weight on the lower side, and try to get them used to wheels when they are young and don't have arthritis yet. (It's bound to happen with tripods). We had our dog on gallaprint for a bit but it caused him to huff and puff and get very dehydrated and thirsty. Now hes on gabapentin which makes him a bit drowsy but hes not huffing and puffing and drinking water every 30 mins anymore
@ElenGolightly8 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for this. Can you give me more info about the sling please? Or pictures? I don't quite understand. I adopted Ajax (now named Morocco) and want to do what's best for his remaining legs. Particularly as he's a clumsy boy.
@lilsnizz8 ай бұрын
@@ElenGolightly I posted a quick 17 second video on my channel showing how I do it for my dog for you to see. For morocco I would recommend finding a good harness that supports the front half that has a handle attached. You can can also look into "velcro sling lift for dogs" on youtube and amazon. You'll see in the video we have our sling to support his back half but we also have a harness to help support his front half and legs when we are getting in and out of the car, going up a hill or the staires etc.. It takes a bit of getting used to for the human and the dog. Morocco might not want it now if he still has most of his mobility but as he gets older it helps so much! Every dog is different so just gotta find what works for ya'll as a team!
