I honestly didn’t expect much but, wow You did one hell of a good job to those shoes.

I was looking forward to this upload, though I'm a little late to the party. You're getting more skilled as you go. Cheers.

Nice work. Whats next on the list for a resole ?
@DrPronghorn2 жыл бұрын
I'm going to resole my bison moc-toes again! That's the first pair I did, and I wore those soles out over the summer of 2020, so they need another resole. I got some harder Vibram soles this time, so maybe they'll last more than one season.

The outsole and fake welt are gonna want to pull away from the shoe once the glue gives out despite being sewn. Especially with the heavier rubber soles in 100 degree weather. That’s always been the flaw with this form of shoe construction. For someone lacking experience and proper shoe repair equipment, you didn’t do too bad. 👍

Thanks! I should avoid wearing them on really hot days, then, I suppose? That seems like good advice, given the limitations on this shoe design.

@@DrPronghorn The only way to fully secure a shoe, with this type of construction, is sewing the shoe from the inside to the outsole known as a McKay/Blake stitch. Basically finish making the shoe. And the outsole isn’t typically sewn to welt on a shoe with fake welt. Next time you can try doing the stitching, you did to the outsole, on just the fake welt to give the effect of being welted. Then finish it off by gluing the outsole to the shoe. Will make for much cleaner work. 👌
