Pot metal contains lead, it was a good idea to put a paint layer to protect from ingesting it. I hope it stays effective.

I was using the grinding wheel 2 days ago,with a wire brush wheel and one of the wires flew off and embedded right below my safety goggles. It went deep in there. Then when it went in, it bent like a flechette round from the 70's. So I had to twist it out gent,e so it didn't snap off. Hurt like a dickens

Use a face shield something like that also happened to me. So now I use the face shield over the safety glasses.

The hydro dip effect looks great. It definitely needed painting to protect the metal and you turned it into an art piece in the process. Nice job! Hope the snow cone tasted yummy.

I like the hydro dip! I've never seen an ice shaver, you can even freeze a block of ice in a container and enjoy free treats. Great sharp restoration indeed! 👍 Happy 4th of July! 🎆

I believe pot metal, or some types of it, anyway, contain lead. I hope that paint is sufficient to keep lead at bay.

Those are not to be painted, they should be cleaned and polished, they were still using these ice shaves in the 60’s in many parts of Europe.

You were doing fine with this restoration... and then you absolutely ruined it by applying bondo and painting it. You've got to know when to stop yourself on a restoration. This is not good at all.
