Not sure in other parts of the world but here in the states the Kona is basically a compliance vehicle as well. It's only going to be sold in states with the emissions mandate and in limited quantities, which is a shame.

The more I see of the Kona the more I feel it is the perfect size for most peoples car use (2-3 and very occasionally 4 people max). A very compelling proposition - 9 out of 10 Hyundai ?

Too bad that this Kona is so expensive here in Finland. Comfort starts from 42.990 € and Style 46.990 € (euro) ,Nissan LEAF 62 kWh 48.200 € and finally Tesla Model 3 is from 60.500 €. Kia e-Niro price is not yet told but the Kia Niro hybrid model is from 40.000 € and up so I bet it is more close to Kona. Too bad that Finnish Government just support for 2000 euros for getting electric car and you don't get anything else (car tax is normal to any other car etc) Well ofc it is lower than on the other car because of the low carbon emissions . So right now its not a real option to get fully electric car here in Finland. Oh almost forgot , if you charge your car using the company (the place where you work) electricity you pay 30 euros tax per month, because of the "free" electricity you get.

When you compared the new Kia and Hyundai EVs I edged towards the e-Niro, but the more I see the Kona EV, the more I like the look of it. Heard reports of veeerrry limited availability here in North America and crazy prices quoted up in Canada, but once it settles into the market and dealers begin negotiating below MSRP I can see it being a popular mid-level EV.

FFVoyager Kona has a 65kWh battery good for 258miles (based on EPA). The Audi was previously claiming around 248ish from its 95kWh battery though the only actual tests I’ve seen, they were getting 185ish, albeit driving 75mph. At full charge it was giving them 200miles of estimated range. (Source: Electrek’s first drive review)
