I'm in Norwich for the first time since I've started the channel and I've headed down to Olives which has a reputaton for serving some of the best breakfasts in the whole of the United Kingdom. Now this I cannot wait for!

Love the fact they've done the Alan Partridge (in Norwich!) method with the beans and used the sausage "as a breakwater to protect the egg as I would like to make the choice".

As an ex Hotelier and Chef, I always served baked bean separately in a ramekin, still on the plate, as many people either didn't like them, or didn't like them touching the rest of the breakfast. Personally, I think Kedgeree and Smoked Haddock with a poached egg is highly underestimated. Kippers are also great.

beans shouldnt be on offer. its just tacky. its like putting tinned plum tomatoes on there. call me a snob if you want (i was a fine dining chef for 20 years in previous life) I love heinz beans, but on toast.. breakfast no way.

Full British is a must to fuel your day. White and black pudding and nice country side sausage are my favourite. In fact, I prefer the Irish breakfast over the British (sorry😂)

I’ve visited the US a few times, mainly east coast tours of NY,Philly,Atlantic City etc and I’ve had some amazing breakfasts over there, and portions sizes … wow .. but cooking your own full English at home or eating one out is the best thing ever, I’d highly recommend it when your visiting the UK .. 👍🏻😋

As an Irish man, the white pudding gets a thumbs up from me. For people unfamiliar with white pudding (I think its an Irish thing) its the same as black pudding but without the pig's blood.

Olives is my fav breakfast spot in Norwich - they’re very dog friendly and their vegan breakfast is incredible and doesn’t feel like a worse veggie breakfast

Speaking of breakfast, does anyone else miss little chef? Perhaps nostalgia and me being young (when it was in business, 30 years now lol) as not caring about quality but I use to love little chef for breakfast going around on holiday in UK, I loved it whenever we stopped by.

Here in the US pulled pork in breakfast items is fairly common - my favorite is a combination of hashbrowns (here in the US they're only formed into patties and fried at fast food places like mcdonalds - usually they're cooked in a big pile on the griddle) topped with bbq pulled pork and over easy eggs. Some places add a cheese sauce as well.

Please keep American foods out of British breakfasts. You wouldn’t serve roast beef at thanksgiving so don’t expect us to do likewise and put cheese and pulled pork and hash browns into our cooked breakfasts.

@@georgemorley1029 I'm sorry if it appeared I expected you to add cheese, pulled pork, and hash browns to your cooked breakfasts - I was merely trying to point out that while pulled pork in a "full English" might be novel over there it's not too controversial over here. And for the record - roast beef would be a perfectly acceptable part of a thanksgiving dinner. And on the topic of roast beef - my mother in law is from the UK, so I usually roast a prime rib for Christmas - I even use the rendered fat to make roasted potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Incorporating the good things from other cultures can be fun.

like your style. I've often commented about the ridiculous hash browns in the UK- especially the type they serve at McD. I've holidayed in US and your hash browns are excellent- exactly as you described.. A big pile cooked on the griddle is delicious. maybe not part of an English breakfast but nevertheless delicious!

Easy to over complicate an English Breakfast . Egg Bacon Sausage Mushrooms Beans Tomatos ( tinned ) Fried Bread Tea ( Black pudding at a stretch ) Ketchup . No pulled pork , caramelised onions no bubble no chips no hash browns .

Hi Gary, I'm battling insomnia tonight & your latest video just dropped as I was trying to sleep. So, getting my priorities right, It's Gary Eats first, then sleep! 😅😴. Your breakfast looked very good, but I think a couple of breakfasts you have reviewed in other videos previously, looked to be a little more appealing. It's our Gary x Hello both you and Son. This is a lovely looking venue and delicious breakfast ( except for the black pudding) I can't believe you ate a griller 🦍 lol 😆 it looked delicious . Beautiful eggs, bubble, the hash is a little different to the norm regards the outside. They looked like butchers bacon and sausages. That breakfast would definitely keep someone going all day . That was a big breakfast ! Someone in comments said the beans were Heinz . I've gone off Heinz baked beans in recent months . If I'm forced to have them because there's not much in the larder to eat , I add a bit of malt vinegar to lift them . Great review as ever Gary . 👍♡
