As an ex Hotelier and Chef, I always served baked bean separately in a ramekin, still on the plate, as many people either didn't like them, or didn't like them touching the rest of the breakfast. Personally, I think Kedgeree and Smoked Haddock with a poached egg is highly underestimated. Kippers are also great.

I’ve visited the US a few times, mainly east coast tours of NY,Philly,Atlantic City etc and I’ve had some amazing breakfasts over there, and portions sizes … wow .. but cooking your own full English at home or eating one out is the best thing ever, I’d highly recommend it when your visiting the UK .. 👍🏻😋

As an Irish man, the white pudding gets a thumbs up from me. For people unfamiliar with white pudding (I think its an Irish thing) its the same as black pudding but without the pig's blood.

Good clips on this channel & I notice variants in what a Full English consists of in different regions. Here in the Midlands, the Traditional Full English consists of bacon, eggs, sausages, fried bread, beans, toms, mushrooms, black pudding & toast. However, there are variants across the country which make these clips all the more interesting. Keep up the good work, Gary!

@@GaryEats just to add a little about Elm Hill. In 1507, when a disastrous fire destroyed over 700 houses and rebuilt by the Tudors The Britons Arms was the only building to survive, so is much older. Recently the Netflix movie Jingle Jangle was filmed in Elm Hill.

Here in the US pulled pork in breakfast items is fairly common - my favorite is a combination of hashbrowns (here in the US they're only formed into patties and fried at fast food places like mcdonalds - usually they're cooked in a big pile on the griddle) topped with bbq pulled pork and over easy eggs. Some places add a cheese sauce as well.

Please keep American foods out of British breakfasts. You wouldn’t serve roast beef at thanksgiving so don’t expect us to do likewise and put cheese and pulled pork and hash browns into our cooked breakfasts.

@@georgemorley1029 I'm sorry if it appeared I expected you to add cheese, pulled pork, and hash browns to your cooked breakfasts - I was merely trying to point out that while pulled pork in a "full English" might be novel over there it's not too controversial over here. And for the record - roast beef would be a perfectly acceptable part of a thanksgiving dinner. And on the topic of roast beef - my mother in law is from the UK, so I usually roast a prime rib for Christmas - I even use the rendered fat to make roasted potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Incorporating the good things from other cultures can be fun.

I've holidayed in US and your hash browns are excellent- exactly as you described.. A big pile cooked on the griddle is delicious. maybe not part of an English breakfast but nevertheless delicious!

Wheeyyy Norwich! Excited to see where else you try! Olives is a brilliant breakfast but if you ever make it back you should try Cafe 33! Queues daily so tasty! Agree with the bubble and squeak there, alwyas a little cloggy and greasy, i prefer mine a bit chunkier with more veg! And yeah they could easily posh up the beans and toms to make it a ten! Great stuff Gary!

Heinz beans I find small and hard. Most other brands out rank them. Branston are my favourite brand. Too many people falsely associate Heinz with quality and these days they fail massively and charge too much.

Too many cafes serve Heinz beans, thinking they are giving customers the best, but Heinz have been poor for a few years now. Branston with a dash of Tabasco and teaspoon of tomato puree are my beans of choice.

That was a big breakfast ! Someone in comments said the beans were Heinz . I've gone off Heinz baked beans in recent months . If I'm forced to have them because there's not much in the larder to eat , I add a bit of malt vinegar to lift them . Great review as ever Gary . 👍♡

I always think the sign of good quality black pudding is the colour and abnormality of the slice. Pure black hockey pucks with blobs of very white fat Vs reddish colour with mixed texture and abnormally sliced. Stornoway black pudding has such a deeper flavour. Gary you are everything I expect in a food critic all whilst being incredibly polite. The ones on the telly could learn alot from you.

@GaryEats since I've learned that the cameraman is your son it has only made me enjoy your channel more. I have an 18month old son so it 'hit me in the feels' abit. Your living the dream. My only concern is that this channel will grow in such quick popularity that eventually food establishments may give favouritism recognising you! Keeping the cameraman 'anonymous' is actually very clever. I'm going to book Makars mash bar in Edinburgh (I live somewhat close by, a train journey) for lunch with a friend because of your videos, I trust your judgment on food that's for sure. I don't have much money being a postman with an infant, with the tips my generous customers give me over Xmas I'm going to save the money to go for lunch, (I've already got £30 so I know I can order the lamb, I want to try the black pudding mash) and sticky toffee pudding) Your analysis of food on what I'm assuming is one take is unbelievable...everyone else just says mmm that's good in a hundred different ways.
