A shame the breakfast wasn't very good. DTH are fairly local to us and the food has always been really good (granted, never had the breakfast there), the cheesesteak is always a favourite, or chicken waffles when they have them.

People have all sorts of preferences for their fried eggs and bacon - it must be hard for restaurants to please everybody. Personally, I would prefer a more old school 1930s approach - no beans and hash browns; bacon, sausage, and egg only.

Sorry mate, but you were far too generous in your review. The lorna sausage looked like someone had nibbled around the edge and put it back. Overpriced, overcooked and overrated. YNWA

A bridge too far, apart from the beans chucked in , a bit of mustard or hp on the sausages , not bad and Rosie lee should of been included!😊

Beans on the egg is a no-no. There should be a dividing wall of sausage/bacon between the two! Enjoying your UK tour Gary!

Hash browns on an ENGLISH breakfast??? Obviously Ramsey has spent far too much time in yankland. We are not the 51st state.......yet

I was there in september and honestly the only thing that disappointed me wad the service! I got my breakfast (same one as you) about 50 minutes after placing my order, turned out they just forgot about it. Overall I enjoyed it, but the staff slightly ruined the experience for me.

Looks like some had a bite out the lorne sausage ... what a mess. There's nothing more disappointing than a poor breakie.
@1019192750 минут бұрын
I’d definitely serve the beans separately in a dish, maybe along with the roasted tomato, those things are gonna be messy and ruin the rest of the flavors in the skillet. They could work on the presentation and definitely raise the quality of the sausage and hash brown. Maybe even do something with the toast too, add some jam or something.

Beans and eggs combined, sacrilege! Immediately loses 2 points for that lol - looks nice though! Haha

Michelin Star restaurants are over hyped Snobbery anyway, I mean who wants a decoration on there plate when all you want is a good bit of Hearty Grub, so very very good that this Restaurant your recommending is not 9be 9f these Snobby Ones

Why did it take Canada 400 years to decide on a cultural national dish? Surely between the French, Brits, Natives and the millions of migrants up to 1800 some club, town, city, group, Org could have suggested Moose soup or Bear fare or something Local?? Fries and cheese is just a Euro Mex mix, not very Original at all. Hey Gary, sorry to hear that serve was not your cuppa, looking at the pan contents you tell me but the thing above the black pudding slice looks like someone has munched off the end? The bite curve looks like a child bite or perhaps a small pet??

Personally, i'd feel ripped off if i was charged £5 for that breakfast, never mind £19. I've never been that big of a fan of Ramsay, but when he's done all his TV shows, spitting out food, mocking chefs, raging at chefs for putting out what he deems to be substandard fare, then he better make sure that the food being served in all of his restaurants is the best of the best. Looking at what you got there. I'd definitely have sent back the Avocado toast, and to be brutally honest, i'd have sent back the full English. The problem with Ramsay is, he's made his millions, he very simply doesn't care what slop is being served. He knows there's muppets will go to his restaurants because his name's above the door, and they'll claim to love the food, just because his name is above the door. We need more like yourself, are prepared to go in there, and be critical, and tell it as it is. I have to say, i would never go to a celebrity chef's restaurant, because 99% of the time, you're going to get ripped off, just because of the name above the door. Some of the best food i've ever had is cooked by chefs you'll never hear of, they're just chefs who are passionate about the food they serve.

Hi Gary, I’m from Canada. I am not being disrespectful, but… I don’t eat that for breakfast. It didn’t look to good. The blood sausage sounded very interesting, but the taste of beans in every bite would be off putting to me. It looks like such a beautiful place to visit. I’ve heard wonderful things about the people there. Try, eggs Benedict with pea meal, smoked ham or blood sausage and spinach on an English muffin. Homemade hollandaise, is sooo good. Cheer. 🍻

It was supposed to be a review of a Scottish breakfast served in Scotland, not a Canadian breakfast. That's probably why you, as a Canadian, doesn't eat that for breakfast.

Hi Gary, getting a little bit tired of food reviewers telling us how an egg should be cooked. I like mine quite solid, and I know many that don't want a runny egg. I think they should ask the customer.

As visitors from Canada, we love the way that most UK restaurants just automatically add the 12.5% service / tip. We had lunch at GR's at Heathrow in May. I don't recall all of the details, but there was a request for some sort of tip that was over and above the service charge. I seem to recall that the messaging was that it went directly to the staff. Isn't that what the service charge was supposed to do ? It's quite possible that we will eat there again on our next trip and I'm going to keep an eye out for the cover charge that you bring up here.

“Not as cold as I thought!” Talk about damning with faint praise…It looked absolutely Baltic -and the food was over cooked. The toast should be on a separate plate. The Lorne sausage seemed as if it had been gnawed by something in the kitchen. 😮
