Fun fact: From 1922 to 1937 Ireland was indeed a constitutional monarchy under the British Crown with the title "King of Ireland" This came to an end with the 1937 constitution which abolished the "Irish free state" and replaced it with "Ireland" and established the office of President replacing the previous Governor-General office. Though the country had a president it was not a Republic because the British Monarch still reigned Theoreticaly as "King of Ireland", and was used as an "organ" to international diplomacy, with the President of Ireland being a symbol within the state but never outside of it. It was not until 1948 that Ireland declared a Republic with the "Republic of Ireland Act 1948", Although it was a republic since 1949 Ireland did not repeal the "Crown of Ireland Act 1542" which established the kingdom of ireland until 1962.
