Something about how these uber complex challenges makes random NPCs massive threats feels so motivational? Like, these trainers probably get steamrolled by everyone else, but here you come giving them the chance to see an opponent struggle against them! I bet you totally made hiker Dylan's day!
@MarioMastar7 ай бұрын
In many solo runs that Hiker is quite a wall beacuse his self destructing geodudes often KO the solo pokemon, but the REASON these trainers were massive threats made me really wish the base game had this kind of difficulty. Like this takes me back to when Misty's Starmie was a genuine threat to us 6 year olds who never heard of pokemon before cause it literally didn't exist. The itch for that kind of challenge is there. and NO...not via Nuzlock...I don't like nuzlocks as they're just self imposed challenges and don't require strategy as much as caution and luck. I want the game to be more "you can't pass unless you figure this out." not "you can't pass cause some BS lucky crit cost your mon and now you have to release it." which to me is about as challenging as "If I lose a pokemon I have to restart the whole game." not harder, just a waste of time.

This is without a question one of the best pokemon challenge videos I've ever seen! I mean it opened up so much new depth of strategy that I never see in other games and genuinely begged the question "is it possible?" forcing you to pick movesets and even intimately know pokeball catch rate mechanics as well as exactly which pokemon was best to solve the next gym and what the ultimate team would be given these conditions. and while I was a bit worried about the whole "limiting the level and number of pokemon for the gym" the fact that you succeeded to beat all the gyms despite that restriction is nothing short of super impressive! I also loved the animations with them! Those were so funny and the timing of the sound effects with the "but the next gym leader... *glaring red eyes*" really got my heart pumping. This got me so excited I almost feel like I'd love to try such a challenge myself with later games. I really love how you really had to go out of your way to solve some of these battels (the persim berry, and the Krabby thing, mind blown!) and unlike other challenge runs where you could brute force your way through with good luck or higher levels, this one genuinely forced you to master the mechanics of pokemon. Defintiely up there with Seer's "Only pokemon/items/tools that don't have vowels in the name" run that saw him solo the whole game with a Jynx with all those restrictions somehow. Wasn't even known for playing pokemon and yet pulled it off (and was hilarious as always). very S++ tier. Also major MAJOR shoutouts to Ms Nido and Beedrill being MVPs. Get that Garchomp OU only nonsense out of here! Beedrill is as OG and really looks like it should've been one of the best bug pokemon of all time. Major props for using a fan favorite bug from the OG days! and legit too with that Twineedle KO.

@@saxor96 What do you mean "he could always get the pikcahu later"?? If you mean he could always catch it, no he cant. He cant catch anything without a better Ball. But he wouldn't be able to reach said ball without beating all those Kakuna/Metapod so he could level up to beat Brock, thus soft-locking him. There isn't a "worst" encounter in ALL scenarios but, objectively speaking, within the ruleset laid out in the video, Pikachu is the worst (unwinnable) encounter in Viridian Forest. Also it literally wouldn't be that hard to code either. In a real program there would be exceptions of course but, for instance, just as a beginning premise in C++: if (Starter == Bulbasaur) viridianForestEncounter == Pikachu; A better programmer than me could improve upon that drastically and in very few lines of code I imagine. On top of that, let's assume he meant "Worst RNG" in battle ONLY, excluding the impossible Grimer fight in Rock Tunnel, at 9:08 he says "I need it to use 'Growl' twice in a row' which means he's relying on luck/RNG that, by the video's own title, should never happen. In battle, the opposing Pikachu should only ever use Thundershoc (since it's a guaranteed paralysis)k, thus, invalidating that stance on this video as well. It is very much NOT the "Worst RNG in a fight" as you put it.

Something I would recommend for the future, if you can, I highly recommend doing any EV training possible. Your IVs may always be terrible, and idk about natures if they're still randomized or set to neutral/always inoptimal depending on the mon, but you can control what EVs you get within the confines of what pokemon are available to fight.

@Tharronis6 ай бұрын
I mean if you had truly the worst most rigged bad luck, wouldn't you also get the worst encounter every time? So you would always get Pikachu for example early game, making it impossible to guarantee a favorable encounter? Or VS Grimer, if you had the worst possible RNG, would the enemy not just use the move least favorable to you every time? The definition of "worst RNG" is really being limited here to make this possible, huh?
@cookiecthulhu5 ай бұрын
came here to comment abt the encounters as well. if we go by simple rng, you would NEVER see any of the less likely encounters, eg. that Pikachu in Viridian Forest, or Kakuna for that matter. since Weedle is the most common outcome, you would always only see that and nothing else. or worse, you would never see an encounter in your life, which would make it impossible to level up and proceed at all. a fun video nonetheless, tho i wish it was made a bit more clear what all is meant by "worst rng", and why some things are considered such but others ignored
@ElperDIDO265 ай бұрын
I mean, I think he didn't do that because it's really subjective, is it a worse outcome not having any encounters, or having an encounter every single time you step on tall grass? Is it worse to never get the most common encounters or to never get the least common? What would be the cutoff for how common the encounters are? 1%? 10%? Maybe anything below 50%. Also the "most problematic encounter" would really depend on the current strategy so you'd have to make code to change the wild encounters accordingly and I'm sure that'd be way too hard for way too little value/making you lose before the challenge can even start, making this video not even that interesting because you'd only advance through 2 routes 💀

Many KZbinrs implement these editing effects to give a stronger impact to their speech in videos. Editing at this level does take a lot of work, more so than a neutrally edited video, but I guess too much of a good thing has been applied here.

Shouldn’t the game be impossible by making it so you can’t encounter wild pokemon as that would objectively be the unluckiest thing, just no wild pokemon encounters and no way to grind?

But then it would be impossible, I'm sure they considered it, but that would have made the game boring and just too darn insane.

Hey everybody I'm 10 years old and there was this man in an ice cream truck selling popsicle things. He looked a bit old, and I heard he was having some car problems with his truck. so, I went over and bough two popsicles and let me tell you, he was the nicest person I've met in a long time. he was patient with me and was being very nice and so I went back to my house, and I heard ice cream truck music and then I knew he got his truck to work. About an hour later, I heard some more music, and I knew that he was going to have a nice day. I didn't know who to tell about this, so I know this isn't about Pokémon, but I wanted to tell you guys about it and the story. W's in the comments for ice cream truck man, one of the nicest people I've met.

Why didn't you just use charmander? They've got a 100% hit move. Also, given worst possible RNG, you'd never be able to get past Surge, because you'll always fail to get the second trash bin.
@All543215 ай бұрын
I don’t think that’s how the trash bins work… but I do second the charmander thing.
@BalrogQuote5 ай бұрын
@@All54321 The second trash bin is always chosen as one of the bins surrounding the first, I believe. And I think you need to get it immediately? Thus, you can simply never win assuming worst RNG.

@@All54321 Yes. And since it's a random spawn in the surrounding ones, and you get one shot at it, worst RNG would imply it will be one of the ones you don't pick first. Otherwise, it would have retroactively been in your favour.
@All543215 ай бұрын
@@BalrogQuote Worst RNG means that when an RNG roll happens it’s always against your favor. Picking the trash cans is not a roll. One is randomly picked and you just need to pick that one. It’s not a yes/no thing that rolls when selecting one, which is what worst RNG means.

You claimed that this mod would always give you the worst RNG possible, then immediately disproved that claim. After all, you relied on RNG to get to Viridian Forest and encounter Kakuna. The true worst RNG would trap you in Pallet Town by always giving you an unwinnable encounter as soon as you step into the first grass patch.

Many KZbinrs do that to try and reach peak audience retention amongst younger viewers who stop watching due to the slower pace of videos with a more neutral editing nature. But as all KZbinrs have their own editing styles, there's a piece of cake for everyone. I will say that editing a video this densely takes much more effort than otherwise, but as they say, there can always be too much of a good thing.
