Thanks for sharing. I am too a breast cancer survivor. I had a lumpectomy of my left breast in 2016. ( After my lumpectomy, I still had postive margins).My treatment included radiation and tamozifen for five years. I declined radiation. I was only able to take tamozifen for a year due to the side effects. I had my second surgery in 2021 for a papilloma in my right breast. I am in prayer daily for me and all breast cancer survivors.

Hey there 👋🏾!! So I had triple negative breast cancer in the right breast . Completed chemo and had a complete response then a double mastectomy ( my choice ) after . Three lymph nodes were removed and there was no residual cancer or tumor present . My oncologist , radiation oncologist and breast surgeon all recommend no radiation . I’m now completing immunotherapy Ketruda and have 2 cycles left . So refreshing to see someone advocate for themselves ! I had to during this in gong journey and researched because it’s so important to understand so you can be a team with your care . 💕💕# pinksister💕💕

Hello Pink Sister! Thank you for sharing! Yay for almost being done with immunotherapy! And yes, it’s so important to advocate for ourselves. I didn’t learn that until my recurrence diagnosis, so I’m really on top of it now. 🙏🏽 Praying that cancer stays away from you/us! We’ve got this girl! 🙏🏽🙏🏽💪🏾❤️❤️

I'm due and been cleared for radiation. I had a complete response to chemo for Tripple Negative on my right breast. Praise God. I'm on Katruda for the next 6 months. Imuno therapy. I had 7 lymph nodes removed and a Doble Mastectomy. It was to only be 3 lymph nodes but they were stuck together so ended up being 7. Thru all the test it was never determined that it had spread to a lymph node . They assumed it had just because it was discovered at 5mm the size of a lime. So, I need to descide to have or not do Radiation. I'm praying about it now and visiting with my Radiologist and Oncologist plus asking others a bunch of questions. Thank you for sharing.

I’m praising God with you for the positive response to chemo! 🙏🏽🙏🏽 You are welcome! Yes, definitely pray about it. It’s such a hard decision as you get such little time to make it. That was my challenge. 😫 Such a tough journey. Praying that you receive clarity during the decision making. Hugs sent! ❤️🙏🏽

I am at the same point. Triple neg with a complete response. Double mastectomy. Have to decide if I should do radiation. I think I'm going to but it's on my left side so I need to pray more. They said it was up to me.

Hey awesome job!! My first go round with breast cancer I did radiation and it was in left breast. I was told the same thing with the pros and cons except for one thing I wasn’t told that I would burn as bad as I did and that it was painful, but with the reoccurrence I let GOD lead the way this time and did my research 😊 Advocate for yourself!’

I did chemo,radiation and now I am on anastrozole. Except for burn,there was no pain.First two days when my skin started to peel I use corn starch.Wow it was so effective,no pain at all.After cornstarch I used aloe vera.The pure natural aloe Vera plant.I cut it diced it in pieces and rubbed it on the burn area.Healing was fast and discoloration is very minimal now.

Thank you so much, Kim. I appreciate your honesty and bravery so much. I am on my first breast, cancer journey, and I am considering not doing radiation. I had a lumpectomy for a 1.5 cm grade 3 tumor in January. I have completed chemotherapy and I’m continuing to take Herceptin Hylecta. I am estrogen positive and HER2 positive. I was a longtime smoker though I quit 13 years ago. But I am reading that for smokers or former smokers. The long-term risk of developing lung cancer from radiation therapy is very high about 40%. Along with lung and breast sarcoma, and heart risk. My greatest risk in terms of quality of life is that my existing dry eye disease may get worse from radiation. It got worse on my last two cycles of chemo. This condition has me nearly suicidal on some days. There is a risk of worsening dry eye also from the Herceptin Hylecta, as well as from Letrozole which I will be put on after radiation. But of the three radiation seems to carry the greatest risks with it along with the eye risk. I will talk to both my oncologist and radiation oncologist before deciding whether or not to go in on Monday. I will be praying about it as well.

You’re so very welcome, and thank you for sharing what you’re going through. I’m so sorry, but I’ll also put you in prayer even though I don’t know your name. Our Heavenly Father will know exactly who I’m referring to when I pray for you. You just keep hanging in there. All of this is challenging, but you’re gonna be ok. Your testimony is just getting bigger so that you can help someone else get through this exact same thing one day. Thinking of you! 🙏🏽🩷

I’m currently on the fence about radiation I have been referred to an radiologist oncologist and will be discussing if I should get it. I’m stage one IDC clear margins and no node involvement. I did chemotherapy and lumpectomy very nervous about radiation I’m confused why I need it if I got clear margins. I’m praying about it. I need some guidance ❤❤❤

Hi there! It’s definitely a tough call, and I find that different doctors say different things. Good that you’ll be meeting with your Radiation Oncologist. I would just discuss the pros and cons with him (which is what I did), hence the reason I came to the conclusion that I did. Definitely continue praying about it, and keep me posted if you’d like. I just sent a quick prayer asking God to you give you clarity and strength as you will soon need to make a decision regarding this. 🙏🏽❤️

I’ve been torn on if I’d like do radiation during my reoccurrence (which is HER2+). I’ve had complete response to chemo and clear margins/pathology after mastectomy. I understand being proactive but I don’t want to do anything that may not fully benefit me.

I am really wondering if i should have readiation at all. I am finishing chemo soon. Have not yet had discussion with my radiation oncologist. I worry he will naturally feel i should because it is his area. Just trying to think ahead. 🤔 Hmmm!? Were you discouraged because of recurrence and therefore was of no help? 🌺

It’s such a tough decision. 😢 I would talk to the Radiation Oncologist, and your Cancer one too to get their feedback. Well, I was just tired of all of the treatment honestly, so once he left the decision up to me, I decided against it. I was questioning myself about my decision at first, but God gave me peace with it. I pray that you will have clarity and peace with yours too! I’m here for you! 🙏🏽❤️❤️

Did anyone opt to get a mastectomy or reconstruction?
@msaunsha20 күн бұрын
Hi! It was suggested by my dr. to get the mastectomy due to the cancerous tumor. A lumpectomy wasn’t an option due to the size of the tumor and where it was located. I chose to get reconstruction. It was either that, or stay flat. I hope that helps!
