In 1978, I’d been playing guitar foe a year. Hunkering down trying to learn Zepplin deep purple and Rush tunes by ear. And a friend gave me the free fall record. I put on side 2 first by accident. Cruise control. My world stopped and my life changed. There was no Van Halen or Vai or Satriani yet. This was earth shattering music then. It was chamber music for rock ensemble. The next day I went to the record store and they had just released What If. Steve Morse made me obsessed with music. Not just his. I found classical guitar and bluegrass and Celtic and voice leading and a million other things cuz of him. And when I first heard Andy Wood I just KNEW he had a major Morse influence.

Two of my top three guitarists performing together on stage. What a treat for me. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks for sharing this with us Andy. You and Steve are both an inspiration to me!!

Awesome! I've opened for Steve in the Dregs and Steve Morse Band and seen him play countless times, but only got to jam with him once at a NAMM show. It should be noted that this is also a man who just lost his wife to cancer two months agao and he's out there doing it! What a tremendous testimony to his resolve and the human spirit! Was the call from Jeff Burkhart?

Serious Master and Padawan vibes. I have shrapnel wounds in my hand from my military days. Discouraged me enough to not play for a few years. But Beatos video with Steve gave me hope again. If Steve can overcome it, so can I.

you did good buddy! I had to laugh when you talked about it being a little challenging playing on his gear. Yeah, true stoies there, you don't know what you are gonna get whenever you sit in on someone elses stuff and i have had some times where it was so far removed from my type of setup that it wasn't very fun or flattering to me. It can be even worse on somebody elses fiddle lol. Enjoyed this very much as always. Love what you do!

When “The Introduction” was first released, a friend of mine that was attending GIT gave me the cassette! My life has never been the same. Coming from a vocabulary and steady diet of Zeppelin, Aerosmith..etc under my hands as a guitar player of 4-5 years, my ears exploded when I heard SMB. You can have all the great rock feel with a special something only Steve has brought to the world IMO! The Beato interview was so special to me too! Keep burning Andy!

You crushed it Andy. We all have to remember that our listening abilities are the most important in these moments. And you don’t have to say much back if you are listening. And it allows you to play the gear for the song. And you were liquid, super responsive to his phrasing. I’d say you played his guitar as well as he did that night and that’s the bar right? Love your journey, the world of guitar is saved by artists such as yourself.

Wow Andy, you are amazing. I just about ran off the road when I seen this video of you and Steve Morris my hero by the way, you were incredibly good and I bet that music man was odd. You should’ve known he was going to give you something with all that crazy stuff he did when he was in college in Augusta, never seen anybody. Take a hardail and glue a Stratocaster neck (not to mention the other five pick ups from who knows where Seymour to D’Margio and maybe even a telslo😂) I’m his favorite fan and followed him everywhere and cannot play refried funky chicken that well. You are amazing thank you best video yet and I will be watching everything you do my friend Andy, Sammy in 😊Savannah.

Morse's music is so insanely hard to play . I know about only 3 players who can consistently play his tunes. Jimmy Herring, Martin Miller and you. It's like the most exclusive club in guitar community . Congrats man. King Arthur officially entitled you as a Knight of the legendary blue guitar.

Thanks bro. I’ve got a Silhouette Special, and always wanted to try a Morse model. It’s good to know that you like the playability of it. Other people have told me that it’s kind of a stiff guitar to play. I’m surprised he uses low action. I’ve always thought it was high.

@srdjanbosnjak7413 4 ай бұрын
@@Taylor-kd6lr You are actually right-he used to have medium to slightly high action,but changed it in recent years for obvious reasons(he is not 32 anymore)

@@srdjanbosnjak7413 Thanks for the update. Based on Steve's playing style and tone, I had always thought that he played with high action. So yes, it makes more sense now that he would use low action, although it still came as a suprise when Andy said the action was low.

@srdjanbosnjak7413 4 ай бұрын
@@Taylor-kd6lr No problem.That fact I've heard from Steve himself in one video interview years ago.He also said it enables more dynamics and it feels better-some players don't like it to slick and want more resistance.
