I Saved HUNDREDS!! Easy DIY Modern Framed Floor Mirror

DIY Modern Framed Floor Mirror! This Maker Gray tutorial shows how I made an industrial metal and wood frame for a mirror that I bought. Hands down one of my most favorite projects. The build was easier than I expected and the results are even better than I expected! Overall this was an inexpensive project with results that look much more expensive. The mirror I used came from a local mirror and glass shop. I had them cut a mirror to the size I wanted. But you could use any rectangular or square mirror for this project.

Thanks for the video, like a number of people on youtube, Your video showed up at the perfect time. I've been wanting a full length mirror for some time and yours is simple and elegant. I really like it. mine will be somewhat different with the steel more exposed and maybe treated with rust or something. With the wood frame all the way around. If I remember I'll send a photo when finished. I would like to see like to see you put a lot more videos as you have a lot of talent. Next I'm subscribing.

Do you mean slipping from the frame? The grooves (dados) cut into the wood hold it securely in place. And this purchase from Amazon keeps the whole thing from tipping away from the wall: goo.gl/sesnGp

How did you install the anti tip kit

It screws into the back side of the mirror into the wood. It has a small chain that reaches to the wall and then screws into a stud in the wall. Super easy!

Misha Brie Thank you so much! The biggest cost was the mirror. I got it custom cut from a local glass shop for $150. But honestly you could buy a less expensive one from Ikea or a thrift store and up cycle the mirror into this project. The metal was about $30 and the wood was about $15. So roughy $200 total :)

How would it help a lot? She posted this in May of 2018. Literally NOTHING would be the same when you watched this in March of 2022 🙄 Material prices are influenced by so many different things. If materials are being repurposed vs purchased new, or if you already have lumber from existing projects. Purchasing a mirror from a second hand shop vs new. Even new- are you buying from a glass shop, a specialty home decor store, or walmart? The answer will make for a huge difference in price. Steel is expensive these days. But you CAN find it second hand. If you’re metal worker you may have some laying around. Prices will vary on that too, and have a strong likelihood of changing with the economy. It’s not difficult to look up the prices of lumber and metal at your local lowes/home depot or hardware store. And similarly- if you want a specific size of mirror, call your local glass shop. Even if she had posted prices, they aren’t going to be the same for you when you watch the video 4 years later. Plus, region largely affects prices of materials. Just because she pays a certain amount for something in her area, there’s no reason to expect that the items would cost the same for you. Please do your own research if you need the approx expense of a project. EVERYTHING is subjective and if she had given a price of $10 for lumber and then you went and bought similar lumber 4 years later. You’d be in these comments complaining about how it cost YOU $26 but she said $10.
