I am a huge believer now in trying to restore or repair old stuff instead of just automatically buying new, I loved this clean up, looks like almost a new pan and stainless steel is better than all this Teflon stuff. Awesome job!!
@hhjhj393Ай бұрын
Where I am at thrift stores have literally nothing and the prices are high. They will have you paying $6 for a nasty teflon pan.... If I went thrifting and found an actual decent quality item for cheap then it would be worth it. Sometimes I look at records, cds, dvds but it's all just bare. I think all these eBay resellers completely destroyed thrift stores. Even on Ebay people will try and sell old stuff for basically the same price as new. I like buying used because it's more "ethical", but it's really just not that great of a deal many times. It's rare I actually find a "fair" deal.
@andrewjones9991 Жыл бұрын
So glad you mentioned letting it sit. I learned late in life that letting things soak, sit, marinate, whatever you want to call it, is really the key to cleaning. Especially around the stove. I usually wipe once with a soaking wet rag or sponge with regular dishwater. Then do something else for a few minutes. When I come back and wipe it off with that same rag or sponge but wrung out so its just damp and it wipes perfectly clean with no scrubbing.

@Celeste_779 Жыл бұрын
i learnt this when covid started, they said that soap needed time to break off the fat around the virus in order to destroy it, so i figured it would work the same way with other soaps. Sometimes you just gotta give it time and let chemistry do it's thing.
@commonconservative7551 Жыл бұрын
ammonia will cut that very heavy oven-hood grease , BUT you must let it sit and soften and do the first wiping with disposable towels etc dont try to clean them = too much labor water etc, and the ammonia loses strength from evaporation so covering your soak in a plastic bag or disposable layer - but- if it sits soaking too long it turns back into a varnish
@thoubias Жыл бұрын
Same works for dried up dirty dishes. Let them soak 10 min and then a stroke from a brush and the dried food is no more. Just don't soak them for days, that only makes it worse as they will grow stuff... Better to actually let them dry and soak them only when you are actually ready to clean the dishes.
