Pharell Williams is one half of the Neptunes, one if the most sucessful producing duos in recent times, he is part of the band N*E*R*D, an alternative band and he is a solo artist, aas well as a fashion designer.

What a vocalist Vince Gill is (not to mention his ability on the guitar).

More Pharrel!! Had just heard of him with I happened to catch this performance on Grammy night. This whole dedication was pretty cool!

Needed more Vince Gill. He was doing it right.

I like this performance a lot. But it's funny how Pharell loses the beat at around 3:20, and Vince Gill looks at him and gives him the beat again by nodding to it. lol Sting is the freakin man though.

"...Vince Gill who is mr singer songwriter guitar player..." ...and mandolin, bass, banjo, etc, etc. He's def. a freak. Crazy talent. I really like this performance.

For those saying Dave Matthews can't sing I suggest you go check the cover he did of "In My Life" (also by The Beatles) for a John Lennon tribute concert. Eat your heart out. He sings it with so much feeling... Loved this cover!

"...let the beatles do their thing" ahh...okay. I'm sure they'll get right on that. I think sting sounded great. Has awesome control over his voice.

Decent performance, about all this dave matthews debate. He is a brilliant singer/songwriter, with a unique voice. However, this was after a long summer tour - and DMB plays 70 shows a summer, his voice is shot. So before bashing the guy, listen to him first. Nothing more ignorant than judging an artist based on something they didn't write, when their voice is shot. Props to him for being himself and not just trying to sound like a beatle.

I just watched this again and I noticed that Vince kinda "stuttered" a little on the solo at 3:10. No big deal, he did great.
@bigboijc17 жыл бұрын
well..Dave is one heck of a songwriter..and a uniquely voiced singer (I love that his voice is so bad it's good) and you got Vince Gill who is mr singer songwriter guitar player and Sting who is all three as well..and pharrell...i literally do not know about him.
@JohnnyContagious15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Vince Gill is a God, all right - his version of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' is the most embarassing Christmas song ever produced and that's some fucking achievement. In that field, and in that field only, the saccharine infested cockend is unparalleled.

I have never understood why these music shows need to have celebrity non music hosts. They just get in the way of the music.

oh..cool! man i'd love to meet carter and learn some of his drumming techniques. but i guess for now i'd have to just settle for watching them on tv and dvd. anyway you cut it...he's just one of the best drummers if not the best!

cool! ever run into anyone from DMB at the grocery store or anything like that?

Dave Matthews is singing flat, Sting is screaming and Vince Gill,..well,..he's the only one that can sing and holds a note perfectly. Vince plays the guitar like the Chet Atkins prodigy that he is. Vince is without a doubt the most incredible artist this world has seen in many, many years.

pharrell did a great job, just look at every drum cover for this song on youtube - NO ONE gets it right, and he did. sting's voice is great. overall good performance, even if they fucked up the lyrics a bit.

According to the RIAA, DMB clocks in at around 40 in the top selling artists of all time, with around 32 million albums sold. Mr Gill, well he's a bit further down the list, at around 70 right behind the Carpenters with just about 23 million albums sold. erikkanter you are correct, DMB has sold more records than Vince Gill.
@whatiwasgoingtosay11 ай бұрын
Records sold isn’t the best indicator of talent. People, in general, are notoriously stupid. Vince has 22 Grammy awards, though, because he’s well respected and admired by people who know good music.

Wow, you'd think Dave Matthews could have bothered to learn all the words (he also messed up the first chorus singing background to what, Sting? Whoever did the first chorus). I really really like DMB a lot but Dave should never cover early Beatles stuff again. It is just not suited to his voice at all.
@jimstocool17 жыл бұрын
if pharelles the only good one, why isnt he singing?
@bigboijc17 жыл бұрын
too perfect and clean...i've not heard that complaint...in fact...the set was not perfect and was too clean sounding...had no personality eq'ed into the drums. but hey..when you have a fast moving awards show..you have no time for absolute perfection.
@johnPiercey16 жыл бұрын
Who's Dave? I see Sting, Vince, Farrell, and some dude that can't sing. He has a nice guitar. Is that why they chose him? like in the old days you let the dude that bought the instrument be in the band in spite of the fact the he SUCKS!

Interesting how these three are struggling with the vocals. They suck really. Shows how amazing Paul McCartney was vocally and how the rest of Beatles nailed the harmonies. Dave Matthews can't sing period but I was surprised how Sting and Vince failed to pull it off.
