Red mist? Never mind the fact that Bairstow had attempted to do the same thing to Australian batsman twice already in the series. Never mind the travesty of justice with Mitchell Starc's disallowed catch the previous evening - something which, no doubt, the Australians were still understandably angry about. Never mind the fact that Australia, due to injury, was a bowler short for the whole second half of England's first innings and all of their second innings - and one of their key bowlers, Nathan Lyon. Forget all this. England were the victims and they won a moral victory...

On day five we were watching the game coming to a nail biting finish. The dismissal felt like a cheap way to victory, outside of the contest between bat and ball. It may have been legal but so is rolling the ball instead of bowling. They should have withdrawn the appeal and given the fans the big finish they deserved.
