I'm with you. I confidently place myself in that "advanced intermediate but completely stuck tier." I can hang in pretty much any jam, but I'm still uncomfortable. I can play a full set with a few weeks' notice and a few practice sessions, but again, it is uncomfortable. Time to step it up.

I am ALWAYS impressed by your musicianship; playing and production. So don’t let the need to practice take away from that; it shouldn’t ever be a chore. The main thread of your output, to me, feels like FUN… that’s your USP. That said I’m really digging your contemplative content too, soooo… you do you man!

So nice of you to say my man. Thank you. I actually love practicing but I always forget to prioritize it. Trying to make it exciting for me and see if anyone else wants to join but I hear ya can’t take the joy out of music. Thank you for your continued support through all the changes to the channel. Also you’re right I can’t help but have a blast when I play guitar. It’s just so fun man. Haha. I will try to focus on that bc at the end of the day that is what matters! Cheers my man!

You should watch some of Guthries videos about learning the triads and caged shapes all over the neck. He touches on what your saying. He said that guitarists will stress and crash and burn because they are so comfortable in one position but aren't putting in enough time getting comfortable every where else. Knowing where your chord tones are is the key literally to Guthries playing. Not saying our calibre were going to play like him but he insists thats the key to getting open and comfortable

Cool chat! I always tell people that my favorite players play so much less than I try to, so yeah trying to squeeze in as much as you can in a given section is probably a lack of confidence thing. Been trying to work on this. But of course, as Larry says, always good to have “horse power on tap”. Gonna see these guys in NYC in November pretty pumped!

I was in Nashville for work and was able to catch Guthrie Trapp’s trio at the Underdog and I can attest to everything you are saying when seeing these guys in the room. It’s deep. The KZbin’s are great but can’t emulate that vibe in the room. It was like visiting the crossroads. It was going down in a deep spiritual way. I left feeling like I had witnessed something extraordinary. And I lived and played in NYC for 20+ years professionally (touring etc) still, like nothing I had witnessed before in a musical setting.

I, too, got sucked in by the use of Tom B. in the title. But what I initially thought to be a clickbait-ish sort of thing turned out to be...a chill cat who seems like a regular guy and who seems to be at the same plateau, as a guitar player, as me. Nice to have discovered you, Mr. Superdanger. I have subd and now am part of your 13K followers. Interested to see where you go from here.

I know it may not feel like it is paying it forward doing gear reviews, but it has its place in helping the everyday musician. You offer insight, mindsets, presets, what you listen for, what you like and don't like, tone crafting, practicing habits, session musician/gigging musician experiences, etc. Being genuine and having charisma is something you can't teach. Your goals of having the industry resources at your disposal to continue to bring folks up is a pretty awesome goal that it completely within your power and ability. You can tell the people on KZbin who are just different than the rest. But please, if you do or don't get the resources, don't worry about being like beato, the message I get from him isn't like yours. You make content for the people with your eyes set on the future of helping the people. The everyday musician either on the gig circuit, home studio, homestead rockstars, tone chasers, and learners. I look forward to your success and journey.

I had the thought of long note holds recently too, after seeing Chris Buck’s solo on a new Cardinal Black song. Lots of long notes which I think comes from his motivation of “playing guitar as a singer would sing”. When a singer holds notes it is captivating, and by capturing that in guitar it would have a similar effect. Check out his solo if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s amazing! kzbin.info/www/bejne/r525pHqNibKZiNUsi=Cgh3JpeIWQIA1HkU

Awesome solo. The long notes really create a lot of tension and let it build. Obviously the band follows suit as well which makes it even more pronounced. I put together a couple backing tracks to help practice long notes on the following video if you want to try em out!

We gotta play with others man! Best part about music! Let's both try and find a band to play with by the summer of 2025. The neck is from warmoth bc the truss rod broke in the original. This is a 52AVRI Fender but switched out the bridge, pickups, and neck. I did a video on it that I'll link.

Hi. I never understood why you don’t already have 100s of thousand subscribers by now. As the channel is great. As you have high goals in the music industry and needs more subscribers you to support your projects, maybe you should be more YT traffic oriented. By posting more regularly shorter videos (I don’t mean YT shorts). A bit like Johnathan Corey, who can release one video per day. Also if your ambition is to play more with other musicians, I would like to see you gigging once a week and film that, share experiences, music or gear related. More vids and playing in a band : killing 2 birds with one stone. Thanks again for the channel. Great content as always. Cheers
