No gold No potions No upgrade at bonfire No resting at bonfire Only 1 card reward per combat Random costs +2 draw per turn Get a curse every chest opened All enemies get +1 str All enemies have their action hidden Max of 6 cards per turn All for extra 9 energy, for a total of 12 per turn. - bonfires are useless unless you luck out a relic that lets you use it for something else. - shops are useless except for metal ticket What kills the fun in it (imo) it's the broken crown, as you can't use anything to try to fix your deck like shops or upgrades... With choker + snecko, you will never play your entire hand.

Might it be that the relics that activate at the start of combat simply activate in order from first to last acquired?

yes. There is an order in Slay the spire. Stuff activates from top to bottom, left to right. So first relics from left to right, then powers etc etc

It would be neat if Searing Blow had a unique interaction with Molten Egg that could potentially let you find it naturally as already at +2. I.e. it rolls the normal chance at finding an upgraded card first, and if that check succeeds, then the Molten Egg upgrades it again. It would be a neat interaction that would only make sense for that specific card since egg relic upgrades obviously can't normally stack with natural upgrades on any other card. I don't think this would be at all overpowered either since the earliest you can find naturally upgraded cards is act 2. Meaning the earliest you could theoretically find a +2 Searing Blow from this interaction would be the first fight of Act 2, floor 1. In which case, you're already a full act behind on Searing Blow upgrades. But this unique interaction could 'maybe' open the door for taking a late Searing Blow to still be viable since 2 free upgrades could help cover some lost ground for missing out on act 1 fires, if you just so happen to find it right at the start of act 2 and your act 2 layout has an extremely fire heavy path.
