Very interesting! I watch a Canadian sheep farmer (whom I love!) who also scans pregnant ewes, but she doesn’t record the number of unborn babies in each ewe. I think it would be a good thing to know before delivery. I’m going to suggest it to her. I don’t understand a lot of what you say, but I LOVE listening to you!! I’m one of those slow talking southerners! But I’ve been to Scotland, fell totally in love with the country, and love living a bit of Scotland through your videos! Keep up the good work!!

Thanks very much for the kind comment Evelyn. We use the numbers for management purposes. Ewes with 1 lamb get fed less than ewes with 3 lambs. I have started typing up subtitles for my new videos so i hope that helps in future. I’m also making a real effort to speak slower and clearer. 😁

@@TheSheepGame Hi, new subscriber sent by Sandy Brock in Canada. I am American from west coast California. I was horrified by the way you put youself in danger lifting those sheep. Brace or not. If you want to do this for very long you need to figure out another way. A ramp of some kind. A stairway with hand rails, perhaps Your subtitle typer needs fired.They only thing they didn't do that was right was include swear words. I've seen others do that. I don't mind misspelling if it means words that are close to what is being said. I could understand you way more. Thanks for the enjouable vid.

Cami....: “Treat them like a pregnant woman”.....So you’re saying that if your pregnant ewe gets the urge for Alfalfa hay topped with grain and a shot of mineral drench at 3:28AM you jump out of bed and rush to the all-night farm shop in town and race back only to find her sleeping soundly and dreaming of chocolate hay pellets? ...for instance...?

@debjukes55482 жыл бұрын
Do you mark them with different colours for as many lambs they will have?
@TheSheepGame2 жыл бұрын
Yes we usually leave twins with no mark, then triplets get a green dot and singles a red. I think that's what we do, I nearly forget each year! 🙈😂
@andywhf82494 жыл бұрын
How do you tell when they got fluke then.?
@TheSheepGame4 жыл бұрын
andy WHF The most accurate / scientific way would be to take dung samples to your vet for them to test. It’s quick and cheap. There are several simple signs u can look out for. Sheep going extremely lean is one of them. Bottle jaw (looks like a puffy fluid in jaw) is another. If you are seeing these symptoms though it means you have left it too long. The sheep can recover but often they will throw or reabsorb there lambs. It’s hard for them to put on weight when the lambs drain so much from them. Better to just dose at regular intervals throughout winter with appropriate drench. This time of year a Closantel based drench is good.

it all looked good until I saw the docked tails, here in North Wales they're mostly undocked - can't you do likewise?
