So, when I started giving mocks last month- I was not able to solve any set at all. Then I changed my strategy along the same lines to what you’ve mentioned- Scan, Select and then Solve with a minor tweak. I scan for the easiest or the most familiar one and do that with as much calm as I can- and I’ve seen small progress. Since last 4/5 mocks, I’m available to solve at least one mock completely and have substantial time to solve at least one more- but have missed out on completely solving them. Eventually I hope that I’ll be able to iron out this deficiency as well. My soft target is to solve at least 1.5 set and hard target is to solve two.

Hello Sunidhi! I completely understand what you're feeling, and trust me, you’re not alone in this. Sometimes, DILR sets can feel overwhelming, especially when they seem complex. But you’ve got the right attitude-trying your best is key. Let me share a few tips to help you improve your approach, so that you can confidently solve at least one set in CAT: 1. Focus on Simplicity First: Many times, we overcomplicate things in our mind when we see a new or tricky-looking set. Instead, start by identifying the simpler sets. During the exam, spend the first 2-3 minutes scanning all the sets. Look for one that feels familiar or straightforward, and tackle that first. 2. Work on Basic Logical Thinking: Sometimes, it’s not about high-level thinking but breaking the set down into small steps. If you’re feeling stuck during practice, take a pause, and start solving small parts of the set. Often, solving the easier bits first gives you momentum to tackle the rest of the set. 3. Practice Set Selection: In your mocks or sectionals, focus on selecting the right set, rather than trying to solve all of them. Even in the CAT exam, solving just one or two sets accurately can give you a great score in DILR. 4. Confidence Through Practice: With about two months to go, spend a bit of time every day solving one DILR set slowly. Don’t rush-focus on understanding the logic behind each question and how the data fits together. This will help you build the thinking process that’s needed for more complex sets over time. 5. Stay Positive: It’s natural to feel like you’re not able to think on a high level right now, but believe me, consistent practice makes a huge difference. You’ll start seeing improvements. Even if you solve just one set correctly in CAT, that’s already a great achievement! You’ve got the right mindset, Sunidhi. Keep practicing, stay calm, and approach each set step by step. You’ll get there! 🙏

How to revise efficiently in quants?
@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
Hi Sejal! Thanks for your question. Efficient revision in quants is all about focusing on areas that give you the most benefit and making sure your fundamentals are strong. Here’s a strategy to help you revise effectively: 1. Identify Key Topics: Start by identifying the important topics in quants that frequently appear in the exam. Topics like Arithmetic (Percentages, Time & Work, Profit & Loss), Algebra (Equations, Inequalities), and Geometry are usually high-yield areas. Prioritize revising these topics first. Ensure you have a good understanding of the basic concepts and problem-solving techniques in these areas. 2. Revise Formulas & Concepts: Make a formula sheet for each chapter and revise it regularly. Quants is heavily formula-based, so being familiar with these will save you a lot of time during the exam. Focus on understanding the concepts behind the formulas rather than just memorizing them. This way, you'll be able to apply them to various types of questions. 3. Solve Variety of Problems: For each topic, solve problems of different difficulty levels: easy, medium, and hard. This ensures that you’re comfortable with any type of question that appears in the exam. Try revising by practicing mixed problem sets, where questions come from different chapters. This will help simulate the exam environment and improve your adaptability. 4. Focus on Weak Areas: While revising, pay special attention to your weak areas. Go back to the topics where you’ve struggled in mocks or practice tests. Work on these topics with more focus, revisiting the basics if needed. For weak areas, solve more practice questions to build confidence. 5. Time-Based Practice: Quants is as much about speed as it is about accuracy. While revising, try solving questions with a time limit to simulate the pressure of the actual exam. This will help you manage your time more efficiently during mocks and the exam. 6. Mock Test Analysis: Revisit your mock tests and analyze the quants section. Identify the mistakes and types of questions that caused trouble. Go back to those specific concepts and practice more problems on those topics. For each mistake, ask yourself why it happened-was it a conceptual gap, a careless mistake, or a time-management issue? 7. Shortcut Techniques & Tricks: During revision, also practice shortcut techniques for common types of questions, especially in Arithmetic. This will save time and improve your efficiency. However, don’t rely solely on shortcuts-make sure you’re comfortable with solving questions the conventional way too. Summary: Prioritize key topics: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, etc. Create a formula sheet and revise it frequently. Solve varied problem sets and focus on your weak areas. Practice with a timer to improve speed. Use mock test analysis to refine your preparation. By following this strategy, your revision will be more focused, and you’ll feel more confident going into the exam. Keep practicing, and you’ll definitely see improvements! 😊

I get blank in DILR section. I see videos related to that section but when I solve myself, I can't get forward. What should I do?
@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
I understand how tough and frustrating it can be to feel blank in the DILR section, especially when you’ve watched videos and feel prepared but can’t move forward when solving on your own. The DILR section often requires a combination of logical thinking, patience, and practice. Here’s a structured approach to help you overcome this: 1. Start Small and Build Confidence: Begin with Simple Sets: Instead of jumping straight into complex DILR sets, start with easier ones. This will build your confidence and help you develop a better approach to problem-solving. Understand the Basics: Focus on learning how to interpret data, look for patterns, and break down logical reasoning problems into smaller steps. Even if the set looks difficult, try to work through it patiently. 2. Slow Down and Analyze: Don’t Rush: If you find yourself stuck, take a step back. Spend the first couple of minutes analyzing the problem. Sometimes, just understanding the structure of the set (what’s given, what’s being asked) can help you see the way forward. Practice Sectional Tests: Regular sectional tests help you get used to the variety of sets and the pressure of solving them. After each test, focus on reviewing your mistakes and understanding where you got stuck. 3. Learn from Solutions: Analyze Solutions After Practice: After attempting a DILR set, if you can’t solve it, don’t worry. Go through the solution carefully and understand the approach. Pay attention to the logic used to break down the problem. Over time, this will help you develop similar thinking patterns. Replicate Solved Sets: Try solving the same sets after reviewing their solutions. This helps you internalize the approach and trains your mind to recognize patterns faster. 4. Consistency and Regular Practice: Daily Practice: Consistency is key for DILR. Dedicate time each day to solve at least one or two sets. As you practice more, you’ll slowly get better at handling the pressure and recognizing patterns. Mock Test Analysis: Continue attempting mock tests but more importantly, analyze them. Figure out why you got blank-was it a lack of understanding, or did you panic? Knowing the root cause helps in working on it. 5. Mindset and Calmness: Stay Calm Under Pressure: On D-Day or during mocks, panic can easily set in. If you feel blank, take a deep breath and focus on approaching the set step by step. Even if you solve only part of the set, that’s progress. Set Realistic Goals: Aim to solve just one or two sets with 100% accuracy, instead of trying to solve everything. This reduces stress and helps you focus better. DILR can be tough, but with practice and the right approach, you’ll start noticing improvements. Don’t be discouraged by slow progress-keep practicing, and you’ll get there! You've got this! 💪

Sir can you tell few most important and most repeated di kr topics in cat?
@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
Hello! You’re absolutely right to want to focus on important topics, but when it comes to CAT, there aren’t any fixed or most repeated topics in the DI-LR section. CAT has a tendency to surprise candidates each year, and it’s not good to rely on predictions for topics. The best approach is to develop overall problem-solving skills across different types of sets, rather than chasing specific "important" ones. CAT typically tests logic and reasoning in a variety of ways, which means that any type of DI-LR set can appear. Instead, focus on: Practice Variety: Work on different types of DI (tables, bar graphs, pie charts, etc.) and LR (seating arrangements, puzzles, games and tournaments). Mock Tests: These help you adapt to the changing patterns of DI-LR. Analyzing mocks will give you insight into where you’re strong and where you need improvement. The unpredictability is what makes CAT challenging, but it’s also what allows you to prepare broadly and sharpen your thinking skills. Stay consistent, and you'll be ready for whatever comes your way!

Bhaiya mera lrdi mocks me sirf 1 hi set bn pata h Accuracy kase improve kru sir?
@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
Hi! It's great to see you're putting effort into your preparation. Don’t worry about being able to solve only one set in mocks right now-this is quite common at the beginning. To improve your accuracy in LRDI, here are some tips that can help: 1. Focus on Accuracy First: When you're practicing, prioritize solving the set correctly over speed. If you can solve one set with high accuracy, it's much better than attempting multiple sets with errors. Once you gain confidence in solving sets accurately, gradually work on improving your speed. 2. Identify Easier Sets First: In mocks, start by skimming through the sets and pick the one that seems most comfortable or familiar to you. The easier sets are usually less calculation-intensive or have a familiar pattern. By picking the right set first, your accuracy naturally improves because you are solving a set within your comfort zone. 3. Break Down the Set: While solving a set, break it down into smaller parts. For example, if it's a puzzle, try solving individual clues first and move step-by-step. This helps in avoiding silly mistakes and gives you more control over the set. 4. Analyze Your Mocks: After each mock, analyze the sets you solved and those you didn’t. Try to understand where you went wrong-whether it was a misinterpretation of data or a logical error. Learn from the solutions, especially the approach that should have been taken to solve the set accurately. 5. Timed Practice: While practicing LRDI sets outside of mocks, set a timer (say 20-30 minutes) for each set. This will help simulate the pressure of a real exam while ensuring you still focus on accuracy. 6. Solve Previous Year Papers: Practicing LRDI sets from previous year CAT papers will expose you to actual exam-level difficulty and different patterns, improving both your accuracy and familiarity with varied sets. It’s normal to start slow in mocks, but with consistent practice and a focus on accuracy, you’ll start to see improvement. Keep working hard, and your speed and accuracy will both get better with time! 😊

Hi! It’s great that you’re focused on your goals, and I want to assure you that financial constraints should not stop you from pursuing an MBA. Here's some useful information: 1. Bank Loans for MBA Students: Most banks in India offer education loans for students who secure admission to top MBA colleges. If you get into a reputable business school, banks are generally willing to provide loans without much hassle. Top MBA Colleges: If you secure admission in premier institutes like the IIMs, XLRI, FMS, etc., many banks are eager to offer loans due to the strong placement records of these institutes. No Collateral Required: For top institutes, banks like SBI, PNB, HDFC, and others often provide loans up to a certain limit (typically ₹20-30 lakhs) without requiring collateral. This is based on the institute's reputation and the assumption that you’ll secure a good job after graduation. Flexible Repayment: Education loans generally come with flexible repayment options. You can start repaying the loan 6-12 months after completing your course or after getting a job. Interest Subsidies: For students from economically weaker sections, there are government schemes that offer interest subsidies on education loans. You can inquire with your bank about eligibility for these schemes. 2. Scholarships and Financial Aid: Many top business schools offer need-based financial aid to students from low-income families. Once you secure admission, you can apply for scholarships or fee waivers directly from the institution. Government Scholarships: You can also explore scholarships available through the National Scholarship Portal or state government schemes for further financial support. 3. Education Loan Process: Once you receive an admission offer from a good MBA college, visit a bank with your admission letter, fee structure, and income documents. Banks typically approve the loan quickly for students getting into reputable institutes, and the loan will cover tuition fees, hostel fees, and sometimes even living expenses.

@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
Hello Tarandip, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when you're putting in the hard work but not seeing the results you want. You're already doing a lot of things right by covering the syllabus, attempting mocks, and solving sets. Now, it's all about fine-tuning your strategy for the next 70 days. Let me guide you step-by-step for each section: 1. VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension): Calm Your Mind During RC: Panicking often leads to wrong answer selection. Focus on accuracy over speed for now. Make it a point to read the RC passage carefully, understanding the tone and structure rather than jumping into options too quickly. You can try summarizing paragraphs in your mind. Practice Elimination Techniques: Instead of rushing to find the right answer, try eliminating wrong options. Often in VARC, incorrect answers have subtle flaws that become more noticeable when you compare them carefully. 2. DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning): Set Selection is Key: Instead of shuffling between sets during the exam, focus on quickly identifying one or two sets that seem doable. Practice previous CAT DILR sets to get a feel of which patterns or formats you are more comfortable with. Mock Analysis: After each mock, analyze which sets you chose, and why. Was it because of familiarity, or did it genuinely seem solvable? This will help refine your selection process. Practice Time Management: For the next 20-30 days, focus on solving 1-2 sets with 100% accuracy under time pressure. Gradually increase your attempts as you gain more confidence. 3. Quants: Focus on Strengthening Concepts: Since you've already covered algebra and arithmetic, spend the next few weeks revising and solving more sectional tests on these topics. Try to avoid learning too many new concepts now, and instead, reinforce what you know. Target Weak Areas: If you're finding some specific quant topics harder, spend a few days focusing exclusively on them. You don’t need to master every topic, but being comfortable with the majority will boost your confidence. Time-Bound Practice: Solve 15-20 questions in a set amount of time daily, focusing on accuracy first, and then work on improving speed gradually. 4. Mock Tests and Sectionals: Analyze, Don’t Just Attempt: You’ve already attempted 10+ mocks, which is great! Now, after every mock, spend at least 2-3 hours analyzing where you went wrong. Focus on why you selected the wrong answers and how you can avoid similar mistakes in the future. Set Small Goals: Don't focus on marks as much as on accuracy and process. Try to improve your accuracy and understanding of test patterns with each mock. 5. Mental Calmness and Exam Strategy: Relax and Breathe: When panic hits during the exam, take a moment to breathe and reset. If a question seems tough, remind yourself that you can still score well even if you leave a few difficult questions. Exam Day Strategy: Go into the mock or exam with a clear plan: How many questions do you want to attempt? Which sections do you want to start with? This structured approach will prevent panic during the actual test. In these next 70 days, stay consistent, focus on improving accuracy, and trust the process. You’re already on the right track! Feel free to ask if you need any specific guidance. You've got this, Tarandip! 🙏

hello sir, actually I started prep in July.. and gave 2 mocks in September now.. but.. dono mocks mein lrdi mein ek bhi set nhi bana.. and so dono baar mere 0 marks h in lrdi. zyadatar quant based lrdi.. , seating+ quant based lr, scheduling the.. ,.. sabme insufficient information lagi.. aur kuch mein samjh hee nhi aaya.. ki kya karun.. kahan se strt karun and kuch mein . bahut thoda sa solve karke blank feel hota h.. ki ab kaise proceed karun.. and starting mein.. sets ko dekhkr easy medium hard categorize hee nhi ho paarha h. cuz.. suppose i picked up a set.. and then after 20 -25 min I will realise that issme insufficient information lag rhi h.. click hee nhi hota ki ab kaise proceed kru.. and information note down krne mein hee 6-8 mins lag rhe hain mujhe. ussme bhi kaafi time lagta h.. toh sir main iss ko kaise improve karun?.. ki atleast 1 set banne lag jaaye..? Though.. maine analysis ke time pr dekha.. ki vo saare sets ki category Difficult thi.. Toh maine still unnko baad mein try krna chah.. mujhse fir ek set 1.5 hr mein jakr hua.. because of many sill mistakes too.(waise vo kaafi bada calculation oriented matrix tha) Sir how can i prepare ki agar difficult lrdi section bhi aajaye.. toh bhi i will crack at least one set.. I have started doing 2-3 sets of lrdi from yesterday.. and will religiously continue this.. from now.. but sir just wanted to know will this practice really ensure my 1+ sets correct in lrdi ?

Hi Phoolsingh! First of all, it’s great that you’re taking the initiative to improve in LRDI. It can definitely be challenging in the beginning, but the key is consistency and strategic practice. Let me break down your concerns and guide you on how to approach this: Set Selection & Categorization: One of the most common issues is misjudging the difficulty of sets. Initially, it might be hard to categorize them as easy, medium, or difficult just by looking at them. What you can do is: Start with easier sets: Begin your practice with previous year’s papers or simpler sets from books like "Arun Sharma" or any coaching material that offers a difficulty gradient. Over time, you'll develop a sense of pattern recognition. Time-based Practice: Try solving a set in 12-15 minutes during practice. Even if it feels tough, set a timer. This will train you to make quicker decisions about whether to continue or move on. Information Overload & Note-Taking: Taking 6-8 minutes just to note down the information is indeed time-consuming. You can try the following techniques: Rephrasing the data: Practice summarizing the set in your own words as you write it down. For example, instead of copying every line, just write down key points or relationships between variables. Visual Representation: Try drawing tables or diagrams as you process the information. For example, matrix-based sets become much clearer if you draw them early on. Insufficient Information Feeling: This might happen due to the habit of second-guessing or not trusting your steps. What you can do here: Focus on Logical Flow: Break down the set into small steps and proceed logically. If you hit a point where you're unsure, ask yourself: "Can I deduce this based on what I've already noted down?" Elimination Technique: If a set seems confusing, use the method of elimination. Narrow down the possibilities by crossing out what doesn’t fit. Silly Mistakes & Long Sets: These are part of the learning process. It’s good that you’re identifying them during analysis. Slow & Steady in Practice: While practicing at home, focus on accuracy. If it takes time, that’s okay. The more familiar you get, the faster you'll become. Also, avoid over-calculating unless necessary. Matrix sets can be intimidating, but they’re solvable with calmness and clear-headed calculations. Gradual Practice: You're already doing 2-3 sets daily, which is a great start! Be consistent with this. Over time, you’ll see that at least one set becomes solvable during your mocks. This practice will definitely increase your accuracy and comfort level. Mock Strategy: In mocks, quickly glance through all sets and choose the one you feel you have the highest comfort with (even if it’s not quant-based). In case you’re unsure, prioritize those with clear and direct information. To summarize: Continue your 2-3 sets practice daily. Try to categorize sets from past papers after solving them to develop better intuition. Focus on improving your efficiency in noting down data and minimizing silly mistakes. In mocks, aim to first attempt the set you’re most comfortable with, even if it looks tough. It’s a process, but with regular practice, you will see improvement. Stay motivated, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any more guidance! Good luck, Phoolsingh! You’ve got this! :)

Hi Aarti, it's great to see your dedication to solving 2 sets every day, especially from previous years-those are highly valuable for understanding the pattern of questions. Starting LRDI (Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation) is a very smart move as it's a crucial part of the CAT exam and often makes a significant difference in the percentile. It’s absolutely fine that you've recently started preparing for LRDI. Here are a few tips to make your preparation more effective: Focus on Variety: LRDI sets can be unpredictable, so practice a wide variety of sets-puzzles, charts, graphs, tables, etc. Build Speed Gradually: Initially, aim for accuracy over speed. Once you’re comfortable with different types of sets, start working on solving them faster. Analyze Mistakes: After solving a set, spend time analyzing what went wrong or if there was a quicker approach. Timed Practice: Try solving sets in timed conditions once you're confident, as it mirrors the exam scenario. Keep up the consistent practice and you'll surely see improvements in no time!

I understand how challenging the DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning) section can feel, especially when you hit a roadblock during practice. It's great that you're watching videos, but let me suggest a step-by-step approach to help overcome the "blank" feeling: Start Small and Simple: Begin with easier DILR sets. Focus on sets that are not too complex and are more structured. This will build your confidence without overwhelming you. Gradually, move to moderate and difficult sets. Break Down the Problem: Whenever you attempt a set, don’t try to solve it all at once. Break it down step by step: Read the set carefully to understand the data or logic. Take notes or draw a quick table, chart, or diagram to visually represent the information. Solve the set question by question. Don’t rush to get the final answer, focus on completing one step at a time. Focus on One Type of Set: DILR has different types of sets like arrangements, puzzles, Venn diagrams, etc. Pick one type and practice it deeply. Get comfortable with one pattern, then move to others. This will reduce the chances of feeling blank when you see a new set. Timed Practice: After you're comfortable solving without time pressure, start practicing with a timer. Slowly work on improving both speed and accuracy. Analyze Solutions: When you solve a set and get stuck, don't skip to the next one right away. Analyze where you're facing difficulty, and then check detailed solutions. Understanding why a step was taken will help you in future sets. Daily Practice: Consistency is key in DILR. Try solving at least 2-3 sets every day, even if they’re simple ones. Over time, your brain will start recognizing patterns more easily, reducing the "blank" feeling. By practicing in small, manageable chunks and regularly analyzing solutions, you’ll start seeing improvement. Stay patient, and take it one step at a time. You've got this! 😊

Bhai apne konsi class join ki thi ?? I've joined PW. They said 1st clear your foundation batch ( batch made for weak stds, stds who didn't studied seriously in their school life, maths dropped std in clg life, avg or below avg std etc ) lectures and essential batch videos. This will cover 50% of cat syllabus and portion. After that start watching ur subscribed batch ka videos and simultaneously start attempting mocks. Brother my 1st doubt is that I started with foundation of LRDI and quants and about to complete both but I'd still not started with varc section and daily procrastinate ki kal se pakka krunga. Prob is I don't know from where, what, how and how much to study !!! Also I'm not so goof in RCs and neither I have d habit of paper reading 😢 kindly help me with genuine tips for varc section bro😢🙏. 2ndly I did arithmetic and algebra and modern maths ( only foundation lvl) but now d problem is mujhe kuch bhi thik se yaad nai hai coz portion complete krne k chakkar me 1 bhi bar revision nai kiya and I'm avg in algebra coz school life me thikse nai kiya tha. I sincerely studied at d time of watching foundation videos but now feeling ki abhi mock diya toh qs nai banega. Kindly help me with this problem big brother. 3rd is I didn't even started with 1 single mock. What should I do 1st ? Start with varc or complete rest batches or start with revision or start with tpc wise qs solving and tpc wise test or start with sectional mocks or full length mocks ??? I'm totally confused brother n this is my last attempt 😢

Hey Yash bhai, thank you for sharing your journey in such detail! First of all, you’re not alone in facing these challenges. Many aspirants feel overwhelmed at this stage, but with the right strategy, you can still ace it! Let me help you step by step. 1. Starting with VARC It’s totally fine that you haven’t started VARC yet. VARC feels intimidating, especially if you're not into reading regularly. Here’s what you can do: Reading Comprehensions (RCs): The key to improving in RCs is regular reading. Start by reading from sources like newspapers (The Hindu, Indian Express) or apps like Inshorts if you're short on time. Start slow and gradually increase your reading time. Where to start? For RCs: Go through basics of reading strategies . Once you’re familiar, start with short passages and gradually increase the difficulty. For Verbal Ability (VA): Focus on topics like para jumbles, para summaries, and odd sentence out. These don’t require much outside reading and can be mastered with practice. Daily Routine: Dedicate at least 1 hour every day to VARC-45 minutes to reading comprehension and 15 minutes to VA practice questions. Trust me, consistency will help you. 2. Forgetting what you studied in Quants Totally get your concern. It's common when you focus on covering topics without regular revision. Here’s how to fix it: Revision Plan: Go back to your weak areas in Arithmetic and Algebra. Spend time revising the formulas and key concepts. You don't need to go deep into each topic again-just quick revision of concepts, followed by practice. Topic-wise practice: Start solving questions topic-wise. Begin with basic questions and slowly move to higher difficulty levels. Pick questions from previous years’ CAT papers or trusted mock tests. It’ll boost your confidence. 3. Mocks-When to start? Mocks are absolutely essential, but don’t worry if you haven’t started yet. Here’s what you should do: Step 1: Start with a few topic-wise tests first. This will help you solidify individual topics, especially in Quants and LRDI. Step 2: After this, take sectional mocks (separately for VARC, LRDI, and Quants). This way, you’ll understand how you're performing in each section individually. Step 3: Finally, once you feel comfortable, start giving full-length mocks. But don’t wait too long-try giving one mock every 2 weeks to begin with. After each mock, do a thorough analysis, identify your weak spots, and improve. 4. What to prioritize? Complete your revision of foundation topics: Focus on consolidating what you’ve already studied. Simultaneously, start VARC prep: Even 1 hour daily will help you build momentum in this section. Start mocks asap: You don’t have to be perfect. The idea is to improve after every mock. Yash bhai, remember it’s your last attempt, but stress won’t help. Take it one day at a time and trust the process. You’ve got this! If you need anything else, feel free to ask. Keep hustling, brother! 🙌💪

Hi sir i am weak at dilr and basic reasoning... I wanted to ask after how much time should i watch the solution of dilr set Example i have a set for practice ,what should be the time after which i should see solution of it if its not solvable Some people say solve more sets with 15 mins to each set and if not possible then see solution(focus on many no of sets) Some people say give as much time as possible to one set but make sure you solve it even if you are able to solve 1 2 set per day In short what according to you is good Solving more sets with each set seeing the solution in 15 mins Or solving less by giving it as much as time possible What should be the minutes given to each set before seeing solution (I am able to solve only 1 or 0 in mocks also i have solved 100+ sets by seeing solution of most of them )
@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
Hi Devansh! First of all, don’t worry-many CAT aspirants face challenges with DILR, but with the right approach, you can definitely improve. Regarding your question, there are two popular schools of thought, and both have their merits. Let me break it down for you based on where you stand: Solving More Sets (15-minute rule): This approach suggests you spend about 15-20 minutes on a set. If you’re not able to crack it in this time, go ahead and look at the solution, understand it, and move on to another set. Pros: You'll get exposure to a larger number of sets, which is great for identifying different patterns and methods. Over time, this helps in getting familiar with recurring types of questions. Cons: If you're quickly moving to solutions, you might not develop the stamina or deep understanding required to solve tougher sets. Solving Fewer Sets (Deep-dive approach): This method involves giving as much time as necessary to solve a single set without looking at the solution. It could take 30 minutes, an hour, or more. Pros: This develops deep problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and patience, which are critical for cracking difficult sets. Cons: You’ll practice fewer sets, so exposure to varied patterns might be limited. My Recommendation: Since you mentioned you’ve already solved 100+ sets and rely on solutions for most of them, I’d suggest a blended approach: Start with the 15-20 minute rule: Give yourself 15-20 minutes to solve a set. If you feel you're close but still stuck, push yourself to 25-30 minutes. After 30 minutes: If you still can’t solve it, don’t jump to the solution immediately. Take 5-10 more minutes to reflect on what you might be missing (look for patterns, try different approaches). If you're still stuck, then refer to the solution. Post-solution analysis: Don’t just look at the solution. Understand why you couldn’t solve it, what key step you missed, and how to approach similar sets differently in the future. For mocks, it's normal to struggle in the beginning. Focus on improving accuracy first, and gradually work on speed. As you practice, you’ll start noticing improvements! Hang in there, Devansh! Consistency is key-keep solving sets with this balanced approach, and your DILR performance will improve. 😊

Thank you, Mansi, for your thoughtful question! 😊 As a beginner, I'd suggest starting with the basics so you can build a strong foundation. Here's a simple approach to get going: Concept Building First: Focus on understanding each topic first by watching videos chapter by chapter. This way, you'll grasp the theory and concepts well. KZbin has great tutorials for every topic like Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, etc. Practice After Concept: Once you've understood the basics, start solving questions on that topic. This will help you apply the concepts you've learned. You can begin with easy questions and gradually increase the difficulty. Playlists Like Aptitude Jab: Once you're comfortable with the basics of each section, you can go for playlists like "Aptitude Jab" or similar ones, which provide practice sets and tips for solving quickly in exam-like conditions. Balancing both concept-building videos and solving practice sets will give you a well-rounded preparation. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you need more guidance. Best of luck with your studies! 🙌

Hello bhaiya, Thankyou so much for ths wonderful video. im scoring 40-50 range in my mocks. DILR is the one section where my score changes drastically, with timer I'm able to solve lod 1,2 sets in 25 to 30 mins however during mocks it's taking me a full 40 mins to solve a single set, and that too not fully sometimes, could you advice how should process under stress especially true for DILR and RC.
@divya_kumar_garg3 ай бұрын
Hi Ayushi! Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 It’s awesome to see your dedication to improving your scores. The fluctuations you're facing in DILR and RC are pretty common, especially under timed conditions. Let me guide you through some strategies that can help you handle the stress and manage time better in these sections: 1. Handling Stress in DILR: Mock vs Practice Performance: It’s great that you can solve LOD 1 and 2 sets in practice, but in mocks, stress can slow down your thought process. Here are a few tips to tackle this: Quick Scanning: In the first 5 minutes of the DILR section, scan through all the sets. Don’t start solving immediately. Instead, try to quickly identify the ones that look more straightforward (fewer variables, direct relationships, or familiar patterns). Skip If Needed: If, after spending 7-8 minutes on a set, you feel stuck or the set is too data-heavy, skip it. It’s better to move on and come back later than to spend 40 minutes on one set. Training with Time Pressure: Practice solving 1-2 sets with strict time limits (12-15 minutes per set). Set a timer and train your brain to make faster decisions under pressure. This will help you adjust to the mock environment gradually. 2. Efficient Problem-Solving: Avoid Perfectionism: Sometimes, you may feel the need to fully solve a set before moving on. Try to resist this urge. If you’ve solved 80% of a set, but the last piece seems time-consuming, leave it and move to the next set. Partial attempts still give you marks. Keep Notes Brief: If you're spending too much time writing down the information, try summarizing it in a simpler form. For example, draw quick tables or use symbols instead of writing long sentences. 3. Improving Time Management in RC: Skimming Strategy: For RCs, instead of diving deep into the entire passage, skim through the first paragraph and topic sentences of each paragraph. This will give you an overall idea of the passage, and then you can focus on questions. Question-First Approach: Read the questions first before reading the passage. This way, you know what to look for while reading, and you won’t spend unnecessary time on irrelevant parts of the passage. Practicing Under Timer: Just like DILR, practice RCs with a timer. Try to solve passages in 6-8 minutes and resist the urge to re-read every line. 4. Building Stress Tolerance: Simulate Mock Conditions: During your practice sessions, simulate mock conditions by timing yourself and avoiding distractions. The more you practice under stressful conditions, the more comfortable you'll become in the actual mocks. Relaxation Techniques: When you feel the stress building up in a mock, take a few seconds to close your eyes and take deep breaths. This will calm your nerves and help you think more clearly. 5. Post-Mock Analysis: After every mock, spend time analyzing where you spent too much time and why. Were you stuck on a particular question? Did you misread something? Identifying these patterns will help you avoid repeating the same mistakes. 6. Consistency is Key: Keep practicing DILR and RC daily with time pressure. The more you expose yourself to different types of sets and passages, the faster your brain will become at recognizing patterns and key information. Summary: Practice quick scanning and set selection in DILR during mocks. Avoid spending too long on any single set and focus on maximizing attempts. For RCs, try skimming and question-first techniques. Simulate stress during practice to build tolerance for timed exams. Regular mock analysis will help you identify areas where you need improvement. With consistent practice and patience, your scores will start becoming more stable, and you'll perform much better under stress. Keep going, Ayushi, you're definitely on the right track! 🌟
