What I really like about this video is you telling us what you were thinking before the shot and what you were thinking after the shot. No ego, no excuses, just the truth. I think that's something that we who aspire to be better think about a lot as well but don't shake it off as well as you did. Bravo sir!
@guyr7351Ай бұрын
What was also revealing is that he has the same thoughts as us amateurs/ high handicappers. Which is negative thoughts not positive ones, don’t be long don’t be short don’t go in the bunker etc. from what I could see there were only one or two poor shots such as the weak chip short of the bunker at the end of the round. Putting has to be hard when so much pace has gone from the greens as you know you need to give it a good hit but that goes against 90% of most putts you hit on normal paced greens. Looking forward to the next round we see

As I was 50% of your crowd, until play was suspended, I have to say that, despite being absolutely piss wet through, it was an enjoyable watch! If I'd known you'd be back out after 25 minutes, I'd have gone for a pint and rejoined you when you came down from that altitude at the 9th green 😁 Catch you next comp, Matt. Thanks for being at Bolton, so I could complete my grand slam of watching Rick, Pete, Andy, Matt!

Honourable played for the 1st pro tournament. Congratulations.👏 I remember my own first pro tournament almost 12 years ago. I finished 24th out of 26 starters and with +7. The nervousness was overwhelming and I hadn't been able to shake it off at any point and made a lot of stupid rookie mistakes. And yet I was proud to have made it this far. I made it into the top 10 at my 2nd pro tournament, and my first win with a score of -5 came at my 6th pro start exactly 1 year later and in the same place of my first appearance. Salutations des Caraïbes françaises ...🙂

Well played Matty! +2 is nothing to scoff at. Your mental game has come a long way. Began following you because you were one of the only ones willing to put a Mizuno driver in a couple of years back, and seeing your game come a long way has been wonderful to see. Learned a lot that can be applied to my own game, even if I'm not at all a long hitter. Shot by shot is a great way to play it. Thank you for the many hours of entertainment. This was a great format.

Love this! It’s exactly what us average golfers need to see. We’re not the only ones! The process you’re going through is great to see…and model. So easy to have a bad streak of holes and start spinning out of control…instead of taking a deep breath and putting it back together. Thanks Matt!

Have just started the first minute of the video so have no idea how you did. Doesn't matter because I want to say big respect for putting yourself out there & having a go. Us non-pro's enjoy seeing the process & learning from it. It's less about how you did. Respect 👊

Great to dissect the round with your thought process for each shot Matt. What went well, what didn't. Backing off is one of the hardest things to do along with concentration for a full round. Loving the positive mindset. Stay steady and best of luck with the next one.

Fascinating to see you talk through a round and review what you did. It will be even more interesting to see what you take from this the next event you enter. As a higher handicapper it is heartening, although I wouldn't wish misfortune on anyone, how shots can disappear through a round. Look forward to the next event.

Good round from what I seen! You said in yer wrap-up, yer chipping let ya down. ... No Matt -- yer mental approach to each shot let ya down, something we all do!!! Indecisive on a shot or not committed, or not backing off to reset --- it is Not complete thought!!! Rough & Tough conditions with all the rain, you adjusted very well. The only shot ya have at any time -- is the one you have in front of ya!

Firstly congrats on a fine effort and a really entertaining video. Secondly it's great to hear you've been working on your mental game - personally I want to know exactly what you are doing there. Can we have a video on this please I still think that as soon as you think about numbers your game goes downhill. When you ignore results and concentrate on process you proved you have the skillset to compete with, and beat, your peers. Don't set yourself scoring targets, they hold you back every time. But again - a huge improvement on your open qualifying. If you can keep this process going, you'll win one of these soon enough....👏👏👏👏
