A really good friend of mine, who passed away from cancer, loved this song. Gives me chills cause the beginning was his ringtone. He identified cause he knew his life was being cut short and all his plans were being pulled out from under his feet and the curtain was dropping. So glad you've been reacting to all of my favorite bands lately man. In case you wanted to know Devin is the clean vocalist and Andrew is the brother who was the former drummer but moved to backing vocals, keyboards, and programming. Andrew used to drum with Dre Beats Headphones on at the older shows. The screamer Zach Johnson and the rhythm guitarist were asked to leave the band before their last album came out and Jeff Valentine the bassist and Brent Allen the lead guitarist are still in the band along with the new drummer Dakota Sammons. They are a 4 piece band now but Dakota I'm guessing is pretty much going to remain in their lineup permanently.

You probably know by now but yes, the lead singer is Devin Oliver. The guy on the drums is Andrew his brother. The term mitten refers to a town in Michigan that they are from. The song is about their mom and her drinking problem. They were evicted from their house as kids and things got bad. Devin and Andrew are both in the band. Devin has an amazing musical range and is wonderful. He also has his own side music under Shybeast.

Murder Mitten is about the mother, Debra, of the band's lead singer Devin Oliver and his brother, drummer Andrew Oliver. An alcoholic who lost her job because of her drinking, she made life miserable for her family, which fueled their ambition. She's had an alcohol problem her whole life, but at this moment, she went through her first stage of rehab, and she was in recovery. So as sad a song as it is, it's talking about the darkness, because we were at the light at the end of the tunnel.
