So happy to see this reaction they are from my home town and my sister is friends with the guitarist sister so i grew up on them and i think they are one of the most underrated bands out there. Also murder mitten is just another name for michigan and detroit where they are from. A really good friend of mine, who passed away from cancer, loved this song. Gives me chills cause the beginning was his ringtone. He identified cause he knew his life was being cut short and all his plans were being pulled out from under his feet and the curtain was dropping. Murder Mitten is about the mother, Debra, of the band's lead singer Devin Oliver and his brother, drummer Andrew Oliver. An alcoholic who lost her job because of her drinking, she made life miserable for her family, which fueled their ambition. She's had an alcohol problem her whole life, but at this moment, she went through her first stage of rehab, and she was in recovery. So as sad a song as it is, it's talking about the darkness, because we were at the light at the end of the tunnel.

My takeaway from the music video… We know devin and Andrew (brothers in the band) wrote this song for their mom who was battling alcoholism. From the video we see she loses her home with the eviction notice. The man in black is there when she’s at her lows. We then see the man paint the bands logo on the wall and devin reveals his face. In the last breakdown the paint is thrown at the wall to show emotions tied to their moms problems. If you have been through substance abuse or know someone who has then you know it doesn’t just effect their life but everyone else around them. They probably feel anger, shame, disappointment, stress, hopefulness. At the end Andrew reveals his face and the bands logo “bleeding” on the wall. Devin and Andrew are both there for their mom thorough her battle. At the end of the day their band is to put good into the world. Everything they do is for the ones they love and this song specifically is for their mom. Devin and Andrew (as well as e rest of the band) are physically displaying pouring their heart out to their mother. It’s a beautiful video and I hope Debra is living her best life
