MG has an appalling reliability record now. I work in the hire car business and all MG'S have been returned. After being parked up for less than a week, all the batteries were flat. 73 reg cars that needed jumping after a few days.

I considered a MG EV years ago but was put off when I realised the "7 year warranty" was a lie. Most items are only warranted for 12 - 24 months, the only thing that had 7 years was the battery. The strict service schedule looked designed to trip customers up.

The car industry has been doing this for years. Back in 1990 a then Yugoslavian brand called Yugo came out with a car called the Sana. Where I live there is a multi franchise dealer. For a while they sold MG’s and then all of a sudden stopped. I asked one of the salesmen why, ‘Because they are utter rubbish’ ‘unreliable and far too many customers complaints’. This dealer sell a range of manufactures cars new including Fiat, Peugeot, Citroen, Seat, Skoda, Suzuki, Jeep, so they have a fair range to base their opinions on.

Vibration in steering? try turning the AC system off (LH button) and see if it stops. I find the heater / Ac is audible when outside the car, and it drives a refrigerant compressor, so there could be some vibration from that. if it goes when AC is off it's that, otherwise it's a bit of feedback from the electric power steering possible. I get the same on my BMW with AC on.

Interesting, Rovers used to have similar problems in the past and used to also fob off the customers saying it was a characteristic and not a defect. They were sued and it was well documented in ~1996.

The cars are bulletproof & needless to say their back up is first class as not dealing with all the trouble that the Europeans are having to deal with with warning lights on , general electric issues etc . Stress free driving with the vast majority of Japanese & Korean manufacturers.

It's not surprising you are having problems with MG. The company is getting a bad reputation, especially with the availability of spares for all models. My local MG dealership is persuading people to buy Dacia instead. I was forced to sell my modern MG due to a lack of parts reaching the UK and Europe. I needed a new rear exhaust and was told that I could order one but it was not likely to ever be delivered and it would need to be paid for upfront for £650! Shocking.

Imagine knowing there is something wrong with a car you manufacture, continue to manufacture and sell. This fault could potentially be very dangerous to you and others. It sounds like a recall but they can’t be bothered to go through the expense and effort. Unbelievable. I wish you all the best getting out of this, I’ve been here with VW. The important thing to remember is that the garage didn’t make the car, but they are now the face of business and their efforts to get it resolved will reflect on the business as a whole. I don’t know how you’re paying for this but I’d be tempted to stop any finance and leave it at the garage. Inform your insurance company that it’s not safe to drive etc . Good luck .

All this is about avoiding a recall and not wanting bad publicity, well that didn't work lol , there's also owner's taking group action, car has 3 issues none of which they have tackled. calling a fault a characteristic will land them in trouble, 20k was finance (hp)and 7k was my money , I have section 75 on going so should be the ultimate protection, finance company says dealer isn't at fault at the moment even though DEKra confirm fault. Long drawn out affair with lots of hostility but should come out on top

Well watching that just made me not even consider an MG . I had a Great Walk pick up truck and was really happy with it except the price I had to sell it for but that was my problem. I bought a Dacia for my daughter and that's been great. Paid £8000 brand new and can sell it for £6500 after 45000 miles and six years. I'm going to buy a Jogger now so MG has lost out .

I have a mg zs for 3 years 120000 km and never had one problem with it . Maybe the 7 l per 100km for alot of people is to much . Before i bought it here in spain i knew chinese cars because i got another one in my other house in the Dominican Republic. A jac S2 thats 8 years old 1560000 km and no problems at all but my wifes Peugeot 208 1.2 its on it's second motor with only 37000 km and 2 years old

@@civilcasedismissedto me the dealer is just giving you the runaround. They’ve got not idea what the fault is(causal part). Could be a mount, driveshafts, drive-motor etc. It’ll take hours of diagnosis, updating technical reports, road testing and replacing components. Multiple warranty claims and they’ll never get fully reimbursed from MG for the time clocked on the repair. The dealer makes more money having a technician do servicing. Keep pushing.

The leaked technical bulletin details the repair, parts were ordered, arrived at dealer , they blame MG for uturn on repair, your probably right they won't pay the dealer, but the dealer is still responsible in my eyes and the laws

Went in my mates 24 reg MG last week with him just for a short drive, he is made up with it. Me being a Toyota owner thought the MG was a bag of nails rubbish ride, bumpy, noisy, poor finish inside and being honest sounded cheap and nasty there is no way I would entertain an MG they are ten a penny cars that won't last made rubbish and are cheap rubbish keep well clear......

Factory clearly doesn't give a hoot , still sending these out with vibration issue plus many other faults, once the rejection goes through I will not entertain MG or Stoneacre
