The US was always going to win because it had a lot more colonies, so more armies, and also it’s villages are smaller so it is a lot harder for Canada to keep any territories it takes.

Canada's total population may have been higher for quite a bit(thanks in part to it's northern territory being shielded from the initial back and forth), but as you saw, it's military size was far lower. I think this is because Canada sent the bulk of their army on the naval raids to take California and the South, and they all eventually got mauled down as fighting that far from home meant the angry villagers tipped the balance against them majorly.
