I had a crash this season at the Gold Cup Finals. Landed the same way you did, ended up with an "AC joint separation" which gave me a solid "bump" on my shoulder. Sleeping and changing clothes was the hardest the first week. prayers for a quick recovery!

I feel your pain, I separated my shoulder (grade 3) this season, if you can get surgery get it as It's the best option for an athlete, I'm lucky and I live in the UK where we have the NHS so no 1000's of dollars to spend, I was back on my bike fully fit in 2 months

Keep your head up mate. I'm 6 weeks post-surgery from a bad radial head break (MTB crash & not even a good one). Physio is pretty brutal but there's day-by-day improvement. All the best with the recovery!

The separation, you are not alone. If it’s a grade 3 ac separation I did the therapy route vs surgery. It took some work but it’s almost as good as new. Try to keep your morale up so despair don’t creep in. Take care of yourself listen to your body and heal up.

Injuries always put a damper on things but on the bright side it should heal and you'll be back in no time so don't bum yourself out to much.

I crashed too on my shoulder. My front wheel caught a groove, i wanted to go one way and the bike went another way. I didn't separate my shoulder though, i fell on it pretty hard. When i got i felt no pain, i thought cool! I kept going. The next day i couldn't move my arm. It took 9 months to heal. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I used to race bmx. Separated my shoulder, definitely made it difficult getting out of bed every morning lol as long as you get solid PT, you shouldn’t have to get surgery if it isn’t a bad grade separation. That “crunchiness” goes away after a few years

These modern tracks are causing too many injuries. A simple crash like that shouldn't be putting athletes out for a season or ending careers.

I watched probably 70% of the grands and I saw that as well. For the speed you guys generate and being clipped in, there has to be a better way to go in these track designs. Incidentally, I have bump like that on my left shoulder earned during a crash racing slalom in skiing.

Injuries stink. They make you think about dreadful things. Guess what, you will heal and it will take some time. Use it as a time of reflection. Why are you so down about it? Why do you care about bmx? What’s in it for you? Get that fire started up.
