I severely UNDERESTIMATED how much welding this would take! | Building The Canopy Frame...

In this week's episode I get started on the canopy for the toy hauler project. Starting with 7 lengths of 40x40x3mm aluminium RHS, I tack the frame together then spend AT LEAST 20 hours TIG welding.... and i still have like over 50 welds to go this week before it's done.
Next week I start sheeting the canopy in with 2mm sheet.

Can't believe you killed a makita grinder. I have one I dropped into a bucket of water and it's still going strong 2 years later lol. Keep up the build I like it.

I'm still on the tools as a builder and run makita everything. Definitely don't think they are as good as they once were. But that's everything now built to a $$$$ not quality 🤙

@@blairhallinan4102 Nice. Yeah i'm not very brand loyal. I have main Ryobi at home cuz it's cheap and gets me by. I have Milwaukee gear from when i was on the tools 10 years ago and also got a Makita lawn mower which is great 👍

Also the maktec grinders are exactly the same if you want a replacement

Maktec is makita industrial pretty much I have one thats about 15 years old been left out in the rain etv

Bro. Autocad it and get everything bent in 3 or 4mm then you can bevel cut everything at home and weld. Framing canopies is the hardest way.. Do love the vids tho

Usually around 10lpm which is like 21cfh which is a bit high.

What grade of aluminium are you using mate, 5052 or 6061? Thanks

The chassis is 6061 and the rest is 5052

Spray some wd40 on the blade when cutting mate! Also look up some grinding disc made by "Rex cut" made for aluminium

Nooo wrong, use bees wax or candle wax , I watch the difference if you don't believe me, don't mean to troll buts that's what I use everyday.

@@Yamum691 yes proper bees wax is best but just suggesting something he will already have laying around the shed and even wd40 makes a world a difference
