In this video we’re going to be building a slide out kitchen with an induction cooker and pantry out of aluminium from scratch.
I also talk about my design process and why induction is better for my needs.
This Kitchen/Pantry was designed using CAD, cut on a CNC plasma cutter, folded on a pan brake and then welded with a TIG.

As a Design and Technology teacher this is an outstanding video. Going through the research and thought behind your design. The CAD modelling and planning around material usage. The construction processes and systems. Showing mistakes and how you overcame them. Finally going back over your initial design and critiquing final product and what changes could have been made. A+. I’ll be showing this to my senior students that’s for sure. Keep up the great content.

I salute your design process. I always survey the "prior art" as they say in the patent office, and take away the best ideas of every design. Then my design automatically becomes superior to each of those. The best of the best I call it. Nice welds. I'm surprised at the heavy gloves, but you still feed filler wire like a champ, so they are not hindering you.

INCREDIBLE engineering, thoughtfulness, and BUILD out. Me: I'm a dinosaur/67....still use my Coleman dbl. burner, from the 70's. Works like a charm!! I can buy fuel anywhere- and even attach to my 5gl. tank....which also powers a Heater, inside or out. So that's why I DIDN'T go for a conventional/permanent "stove"....no matter the type/fuel. I wanted max. flexibility, cheap/easy, and NOT a kitchen. (which eats up real estate) Your rig is KILLER!; well done mate!

Your split lid storage space, if you look carefully I believe there might be some automotive weather stripping for car doors or windows that might fit, possibly for a smaller car model. So, I'd look for some spare sedan weather stripping and you may able to put a bar in the middle, fit the stripping on that and it will spill proof it but still give you the accessibility you designed it for. Just a thought.

Induction means the plate is cool to touch - the heat is transferred to the pot. That’s why they are safer in homes with kids too as they automatically shut off when pot is lifted off. I would presume immediately can be stowed. Anyone know how to turn off all the bleep beepings on induction? It drives me crazy at home I would not want to disturb other campers with all those beeping sounds.

This looks great with one exception, hard mounting the induction cooktop is a mistake, it WILL fail from corrugations and constant bumps etc, these units are designed to sit on a kitchen benchtop, they don't like being subjected to constant jolts, portable plug-in units are much better, you pack them up at the end of the day ensuring the electronics are protected.

Nicely built but over engineered. If you plan your camping trip correctly with prepared foods which need minimal time and effort to eat, basically just heat and eat. As long as you can have a nice cup of hot tea or coffee, you are 90% there which just takes a gas stove to prepare.
