The impassioned vocals and stripped-down, eloquent playing make for one of the most moving renditions of this song I’ve ever heard. I’m so used to hearing this performed with a full band and a chorus of backup singers. This, instead, in its simplicity, with it’s underpinning of sympathetic guitar, is a cry in the darkness, full of pain and hope. Just inexpressibly beautiful.
