Hi Bri! (we miss you Ellie 🐈) Love the hair and make-up...the lashes are luscious. Have you considered doing an updated gel alternative video. With the winter months approaching, I look to avoid the gel application while still achieving curl definition. Oil to gel products may be an alternative but perhaps some leave-ins can define curls too? Your ingredient knowledge can direct us on what ingredients to look for. Haha, YESSS!!! Ya know I stan the Curlsmith Flexi Jelly!!! One of my HG fave combos is Soultanicals Frizz Whiz + As I Am Curling Jelly (has glycerin) + Curlsmith Flexi Jelly. Plus I love the fragrances of them together... I need a perfume like that! 😂 CJ Pattern Pusha is a great glycerin-free gel, & I sometimes use it in place of As I Am in that combo... they're 2 of my GOAT wash & go's! You look so pretty with this hairstyle, Bri!!! xo 😘

I just had a glycerin free wash day using NLS. I tried your combo of Irish moss and their flaxseed gel…got great fluffy defined results. Thanks for all the tips😉

One thing to keep in mind about humectants is that some humectants are film-forming which means they actually form a flexible film on the hair which helps to keep moisture from escaping from your hair. Examples are: nettle, slippery elm, marshmallow root, etc. Glycerin and sorbitol are not film-forming humectants and are probably the worst humectants for pulling moisture out of your hair in humid environments.

This is the first video I have seen at this channel, and I like the content and your response. Glycerin is just too tricky for me to deal with, but it is hard to find styling products without it. But with the film-forming humectants you mentioned, what about their protein content? That's where it gets tricky for me. Flax seeds are another film-forming humectant. I read that with flax seeds, the proteins are too big to penetrate the hair shaft, so that makes it essentially a protein-free ingredient. It's getting complicated to become an arm-chair chemist just to take care of my hair 😂

Hey! I think I finally cracked the wash n go code after years of being a twist/braid out girl, so I really appreciate this gel info. As of now, I’ve had the most success with Ecoslay Jello Shot. I love everything about it! You’re right, it is FIRM…but it somehow still keeps the hair so moisturized. And for such a thick gel, it mixes well with so many different leave ins. I usually pair it with Curlsmith Air-dry cream or my lightweight SheScented leave ins. Jello Shot is my go-to while I’m still a wash n go novice, but I’m definitely going to experiment with some of the gels you mentioned. OAN your hair and makeup are flawless🤩

b/c uncle funky daughter did that i will never try them you cant have a product foe so long your #1 product and the ingredient list has always had glycerin and you clearly never let your customers know is fraudulent to me and does not sit well with me i have never purchase or used any of their products and now i never will!!!!!

Yeah I’m in the process of now of getting in touch with them and getting full confirmation on that. Because sometimes the people that run these brands social media say a mouthful, but actually have no idea what they’re talking about. That’s a really horrible look for them (worse than just saying nothing), but I do want to have further confirmation on that before I upload the video where I give my full opinion on the situation.
