I've never used black and white film until a friend i had told me: "if you want to understand color, first start with a simple grayscale" and it change my way to look photography, a few months ago i loaded an ilford emulation to my XT-3 and is the only one i've used since then.

The start of this series was when I discovered your youtube channel, and this last year has been awesome! I did not expect this for a closing video, but it feels honest and I loved it. Thank you for sharing and being crazy enough to do 365 B&W. What a challenge. I started out with black and white because I did not have a color enlarger in the 90s; and then digital came to me and I shot a lot of color. Over the last year you've inspired me to take monochrome seriously again, and boy has it been awesome and humbling. I feel like I forgot everything, even seeing the viewfinder in black and white left me rudderless at the beginning. Now I'm really enjoying the monochrome, especially with visual rhythms and harsh light.

I can not believe that it's actually been a year already. It feels like I've just watched your "intro" Video to the B&W project come out like 3 months ago. This was really fun to follow along and I really like your insights about how black and white - while feeling limiting at first - can actually put you at ease while shooting because the absence of color does make certain scenes "easier" to photograph.

Came here for the B&W many months ago & stayed for Taylor ! At a time when I sort of felt over-saturated with color limiting my creative thinking, while also feeling as if it was affecting the way I interacted with the shared world of those around me, you really gave me that bit of inspirational drive I needed to pursue what I deemed as essential to my own unique path regardless of what anyone may think on this planet directing my visualizers every which way. Watching this B&W journey has taught me new perspectives and also has brought me ease in knowing that I am not alone in still appreciating the psychological beauty a monochrome image can STILL have in our professional occupations & our everyday lives. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU happy to be watching this journey unfold !!

I mentioned this on your Instagram a while back, but after seeing you use black and white, and seeing how cool the pictures were looking gave me the courage to try shooting in black and white for the first time. So, when I took a spring break trip to the black hills, I brought a roll of black and white, and I fell in love with it. So, thank you for inspiring me, and thank you for all the videos you've made I've loved watching you try this out!

Feels like yesterday I watched your video starting off year-long challenge. That year coincided with me picking up film photography in general - learning how to do it, finding what i like and what my own style is, and putting up with myriad frustrations when I don't think I'm improving. B&W has a real appeal for me, even though I like colour, I find the photos I've been happiest with have been B&W. Thanks for the video, it's a real inspiration.

In Drawing on the Artist Within & the most recent revision of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, Betty Edwards asks all creatives to Perceive the: Edges; Negative Spaces; Relationships and Proportions; Light and Dark (I always thought of this as chiaroscuro, because I extended it to illuminated and obscured as well as more than a few other things) & Gestalt. This was 52 weeks worth of perception & meditation… in profound glory.

Props to you for really being able to really convey emotion and depth in your photos by using B&W. Proves great photographs can be in B&W or color!

How different do you think the experience would have been if you had shot B&W jpegs on a digital camera, e.g., using the Acros film simulation (with red/yellow filter) on a Fujifilm camera, instead of using different (?) B&W film stocks on different cameras for the whole year?

Most of us have enough cameras to have one loaded with B&W and one with color. But I usually know when I head out the door which it is going to be for that subject or those conditions. And now I have a Nikon Zf and I can slide that switch over to B&W and see what B&W looks like in my viewfinder. I hope to be surprised a lot.
