Colin Farrell is freakin INVISIBLE in this role. It's such an incredible performance. EDIT: O dip, you're only 1.5 eps in?? It just keeps getting better!

appreciate that you just took a couple minutes to just say "ok I was wrong, this show is great". I was kind of in the same boat, didnt watch the first week (wasnt around that day and didnt plan on really making time for it), but then my friends (who dont watch comic/superhero stuff) were all raving about it, so i was like oh....we need to watch this now. and it does not disappoint at all

I just watched Episode 5, and holy crap, you think it's shocking unpredictable so far, it just keeps getting crazier and crazier, and I have no idea how it's going to end, just that it's going to be insane!

Excellent show. I keep getting worried it's going to start going downhill, but every episode has been great!

Exactly, it’s a crime drama above all else. I even got one of my brothers who’s a huge fan of the sopranos into it. 👌 chefs kiss

I have absolutely NO idea on how you aren’t the biggest fan of Matt Reeves’ The Batman and even DARE call it “the best bad movie I’ve ever seen” in ANY regard because I, among many others, consider it to be an absolute MASTERPIECE of a film and the best Batman movie to heavily focus on Batman himself where he’s the best character in it. From how fantastically well directed and written it all is to bring the Batman mythos and characters to life in the best way for a thrilling cinematic experience. Your “suspension of disbelief” critique on why you think it has any “bad parts”, which doesn’t feel valid at all, from the MASSIVE amount of good to phenomenal stuff in it does come down to you having to understand that one, yeah it is a comic book movie so Batman can survive those kinds of scenarios but two, Batman is heavily equipped with armored suits and trained his body his WHOLE LIFE for crime fighting and surviving insane scenarios from all the tools and equipments that he has. It makes complete sense for him to survive a roof top dive from a glider in a scenario like that when he’s equipped himself with the tools to PREPARE for scenario like that as there Batman has already has survived even more crazy scenario that’s similar to that in the beginning of Batman Hush comic where Batman fell off a roof due to someone cutting his cable chord and was knocked unconscious for a while and needed brain surgery afterwards but still lived just fine tell the tale. Batman, while being a human with no superpowers, is still supposed to be PEAK human who trained his body and mind to incredibly self disciplined and strenuous standards to prepare for such dangerous situations. He’s a human being in the end of the day but he’s most definitely NOT just a regular guy from across the street, that’s nonsense to say that he is. He’s not a Saiyan but he’s not a regular guy either. Batman has super serious and very realistically grounded depictions of him ALL the time in his media of having him survive near death encounters in his city to showcase on how dangerous what he’s doing really is and how easily he can do but through his training and the vast arsenal of tools and resources, he’s able to survive because he’s prepared do it and that scene from The Batman is just one of the many examples of Batman doing such things. If you think that’s the only scenario where Batman didn’t gracefully crash down from a roof top as he slammed down concrete crashing through cars and alleyways, he’s survived WAY worst scenario in other comics and media ALL the time to showcase on how dangerous Batman’s daily life is to be doing this kind of thing but he’s prepared himself extremely well to survive such scenarios. The gliding down scenario isn’t valid at all as any kind of critique that could harm your “suspension of disbelief” as Batman goes through stuff like that ALL the time as he’s has the tools to survive such situations as shown time and time again.

As a comic reader, this movie actually feels like it's straight from the comics. Batman should be detective focused, and have an extensive rogue gallery. It's such a love letter, the noir atmosphere, the attention to details. Hope Matt reeves actually dares to go in the more super natural route and takes even more inspiration from the arkham games. I know it will be more grounded but I think the arkam games really have an grounded take on villans like dr freeze , Ivy and man bat

Same. The Batman had good commentary... that quickly gets undermined by the non-character he is in his own movie, the overlong duration and that comic book-y final act where everything is solved by explosions and good intentions, and Batman can go back to punch poor people because suddenly they still need him for some reason. The Penguin series is the best live-action Batman-related thing we have had in almost 20 years, although Id prefer they try a more fantastical less serious take on that franchise now.

Definitely better than the DC animated staff turning him into a woman for no reason other than "batman needed more female villains" and the hilarious part is most of his shows have a ton of them. Babydoll. Harley. Ivy. Ivy again. I could go on.

Honestly, I seem to be in the minority, but I've been pretty disappointed with it so far. It's felt very mediocre to me. Like you, I didn't completely love The Batman, but there were parts I really liked, and with this show it's felt to me like they kept almost all the flaws I didn't like from The Batman, and none of the charm that made it enjoyable. I'd be curious to see you do a breakdown of what you think does or doesn't work in the show, though
@upg51472 ай бұрын
I love to know why you don't enjoy it because each episode has hooked me more and more. The character work is really what puts this above the rest.
