A 12v fridge for camping has made a huge difference in keeping food and drinks cold. It's a way better option than a cooler and much more efficient. Here is my review of the ICECO GO20 12v Fridge.
*Disclaimer: ICECO provided the GO20 for testing/review. All opinions are my own.*

Totally agree with taking a small fridge like this vs. a cooler. The big trouble with coolers and ice is that, ice takes up space until it melts. So, you can't pack as much into it as you can in one of these fridges. I've got a 62 qt, and am looking at a smaller one for just over the weekend. I do still use small coolers for just keeping drinks at my chair area, but that's all I use them for anymore. Nice review of this one. Going to keep looking. 🙂

We just bought a setpower RV45s fridge and used it this past weekend for 3 days and it was a game changer for sure! Coolers definitely have their place but we were able to fit so much more stuff than previously just using our 45qt cooler. Also ice in our area changed from 10/20lbs bags to 7/16lbs bags for the same price! The one downside has been not having ice for drinks though but we didn't use a lot of the cooler ice anyway since we're always digging our dirty hands in there while camping.

I use a cooler designed for marine use. It has more insulation so keep things cooler for longer with just a block of ice. I've had ice cold drinks after leaving it in the car for three days in summer. I did park in the shade.

Great features, great design, frig/freezer combo in this size is unheard of. The fact it won't hold a half gallon milk jug upright is the deal breaker for me. Otherwise it would be the perfect cooler of this size, IMO.

I'm going on a 2 month road trip and bought the ICECO GO20 and Bluetti EB70 to keep things running. I also bought the insulated cover for the fridge. Thanks for the review, I'm hoping it will be a good trip!

@@soulchild2003 overall, it was a good experience. There was a bit of a learning curve for use/operation. I found that the thermostat was all over the place but the fridge seemed to keep food/drinks cold. It was a VERY hot summer so I suspect the fridge worked extra hard to stay cold and pulled a lot of juice from the Bluetti. The Bluetti could keep it running just overnight, any longer and I had to plug in to shore power. My biggest complaint is the ICECO 12V/AC adapter connection. It’s a poor design that is vulnerable to disconnecting. All that said, it was great to pull out a cold drink and keep sandwich fixings/snacks/leftovers at the ready.

@Jeanne Sutter had that problem with the go 20 dc adapter also. I ordered an after market dc adapter from amazon that also works with dometic . It doesn't pop off because it has a perfect wider circumference instead of those stupid springs that iceco uses on their adapter. That dc adapter I ordered from Amazon fits perfectly into my bluetti eb3a and the rest of my ecoflow dc ports

Devin, I've been using a Bluetti 2400 wh battery with my 80 litre dual zone fridge in the back of my Grand Cherokee. I attached an 1100 watt inverter to the car battery to charge the Bluetti and a 350 watt portable solar panel as backup. Just returned from a trip to Beef Basin where 2 inverters failed and fortunately the solar panels worked very well. 6 days of ice cold drinks and gourmet food. Any guesses why the inverters might be failing? Thanks for your channel and your insights.

I have quite a few yeti hard and soft coolers. I bought iceco 8 months ago and been running it 8 months straight as an extra refrigerator for my home as well as other trips. Guys get a dc fridge over yeti coolers it is soo much more convenient .

Thinking of getting this for my nuCamp t@g XL.. it's pretty much one of the few I've found to fit my dimensions. I'm concerned that this might drain my battery over a weekend. Given I have solar for the day to keep the battery charged in the day I should be ok. Is it a battery drainer? I could always upgrade my stock battery

How are you securing this in your Jeep? I’d prefer to mount this on a slide for easy access/opening, but I’m not seeing any tie down options due to the lack of traditional swinging handles.
@BackcountryExposure
@BackcountryExposure Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I've not been securing it with anything. That's probably not a great idea on my part, however, I wouldn't consider myself an overlander. What I am doing is driving on pretty easy dirt roads and not getting into anything real aggressive, so it doesn't feel as necessary to tie it down. I have the JP30 which is just slightly bigger than this fridge and it does have the handles you're referring to. Probably a better option in that regard.

Can you use it as a freezer only or refrigerator only? I might need this just as a freezer for meats on my longer trips but times I’ll need more for a fridge.

On the website it says you can. But I'm not sure how cold it would stay as just a freezer or how much more power it would use

Test Results: Room temperature 72F. Item powered ICECO go20 with insulated cover. Temp set at 38F. 12 water bottles inside. After 27 hours the Delta 2 had 55% battery life left. The cooler temp remained constant .I like it!👊 Extra battery for the Delta 2 coming tomorrow.

I like your reviews but do you think the JP30/40/50 are better coolers? Thanks
@BackcountryExposure
@BackcountryExposure Жыл бұрын
Yes I would say so. I also have the JP30 and it’s more efficient in cooling and staying cold. However, space is often a constraint for me, and the slightly smaller size of the GO20 fits better in my Jeep with all my other gear, and for a quick weekend trip the JP30 is just a little big in interior space. But if I was to only choose one, I’d get the JP30.

@@BackcountryExposure I just read in their site that it will get the freezer down to 0° in 15 minutes. Thats a little too good…what temperature is that starting at? 32°? 75°? Not really questioning you on that, just would be more for the manufacture. Do you have times though of how long it took to cool down?
@TW---
@TW--- 2 жыл бұрын
@@rgmALC From what I understand, it's a special feature, a button you push to get it to cool down to set temp vey quickly. Unfortunately it uses alot of power to do this, so it drains the battery generator quickly. I guess if you plug it into car 12v while driving to the store it shouldn't be an issue. Cool feature nevertheless.

@@TW--- That still seems too good to be true. Press a button and somehow rapidly cools down to 0° in 15 minutes? Seems like marketing fluff

I don't think you've made a compelling point that's its better than a Yetti for a long weekend. My cooler keeps things cold for 5 days in very warm weather. Keep it in the shade and drape it with a wet white towel. A lot less expensive.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. I have a Kong 65 cooler that stays cold for about a week for about 5-10 dollars worth of ice
@BackcountryExposure
@BackcountryExposure 2 жыл бұрын
My issue is the amount of space that Ice takes up in a small cooler. I have a yeti 35 and the amount of space after Ice is less than what this unit takes up. And the yeti 35 is much bigger space wise. I also wasn’t trying to convince anyone that this has to be a complete replacement to a good cooler. A fridge like this just has a big convenience factor.

@@BackcountryExposure I can't remember what brand but I remember seeing a video jpeg for a unit that was either 1/2 fridge & 1/2 ice maker or all ice maker which means if your own more than a 3 day weekend trip you won't run out of ice for your ice tea etc. : )

Your battery "generator" is NOT a generator. It is a storage battery pure and simple. Get a 12v battery and connect it to the fridge....same thing.

KA also makes road shower heat up units, shower tents, electrical upgrade products for 24V system upgrades you'll need to run your REDARC system to power your pull out or swing out Overland field kitchen. 23Zero also is a good co.
