Colleen. If Erik, your mom, or your nanny are present, then please learn to delegate to the very capable people you’re surrounded with. I know you’re their mom, but you gotta let go of some of the control. You’re gonna run yourself ragged. And a stressed out, sad, mom is no good to any of your kids. Remember to put your own oxygen mask on before helping others put on theirs.

Colleen, I also had three little children when I was completing my PHD . What l did was I went away to a library and studied while my husband and babysitter were at home which was like only 3 hours I left them. But the amount of work l did in those 3 hours were huge to compare with a whole day at home as you said someone will need me , but believe me going away for a few hours really works. You can go to Cory's house to do your work then rest of the day you can stay with your babies. Hope you see this.💖💖💖

when u work from home you have to keep boundaries. when you work, you shouldn’t be spoken to. and you stick to that. period. it’s not neglect when there are other caretakers available. it’s a boundary. why hire help if you are still having to step in. set boundaries and hold them and the transition will be easier and you’ll get to get work done. remember full house when jesses red light was on he was recording and nobody was allowed to come downstairs. boundaries.

I commented this on the last vlog, but I think it’s important for you to see so here it is again. Breastfeeding mom here, my biggest advice, whatever you do, please, PLEASE, do not quit cold turkey. Slowly wean off pumping, drop one pump a day, wait a few days then drop another, do it slow. Breastfeeding is so hormonal and quitting cold turkey can do damage on mental health. Next, if you want breastfeeding to work, please go see a lactation consultant in person. You wouldn’t hesitate to see a specialist for any other problem, so don’t avoid it for this either. Chances are, it will be easier than you imagine. There’s a good chance they could breastfeed great, they’re just being over fed by the bottle currently so they’re not hungry to breastfeed. NEXT, if you ultimately do decide to quit pumping, you don’t need to completely stop. You can still let maisy do the one feeding a day, your milk will adjust!

Your post makes it sound like she’s not tried all of this stuff already… 🤔 She’s mentioned multiple times that she’s seen a lactation consultant and that she talks to her doctor about their struggles regularly. It’s likely the twins just developed a preference for the bottle while in the nicu because it’s easier for them than breastfeeding. I don’t think Colleen is doing anything wrong here or hasn’t tried everything, it’s just the way the cards fell for this situation. If anything, she seems to be putting strain on her own mental health trying to continue breastfeeding/pumping because it’s so important to her.

Colleen you have the privilege to spend as much time as with your kids and still have an income. If you want to get more work done you have to set boundaries and use the help that you have and don’t be to hard on yourself for being away from the kids. They will be okay. My mom was a single mom with 6 kids. She worked at night and was busy during the day taking care of her kids. It’s not easy but it can be done.

You can NOT be both a full time mom and hold a full time job. No one can. It’s the #1 reason moms feel inadequate. Because we (and society) expect the impossible of moms but we just can not be all things to everyone. The responsibilities of your children must be fully passed on to others if you want to get something else done. It’s just real life. Please stop expecting to be able to do everything. You’re going to harm your own mental health thinking this way, that you *should* be able to do it all. No, you shouldn’t. No one can. It’s quite literally impossible. It’s just so unfair to do to yourself. You really have to practice more self care and self love, that way you can remember to show yourself grace and kindness. Because lately you’re beating yourself up often and over quite a few things; switching to formula and thinking you can be all things to everyone, kids and work. This is not at all healthy. You deserve the same grace and kindness that you’d show to anyone else going through the same exact things. Remember that. It’s really important.

Yes! And i don't say this in a mean way, i love Colleen, i follow and support her for years. But she does not have a full time job. A full time job you work 8 hours a day, you don´t get to stop for hours when the kids want to play or cry. That is impossible to do with 3 kids or with one for that mather. Her expectations are completely unreal and i think she should try to change that mindset. And she has so much more help than the average woman has. She should learn to accept the help and create her space to work or rest and leave the kids with their father, babysitter, her parents, etc during this time. Otherwise it won't work.

TMI--- Once you have "them" , you have them. They are never really gone. They just only show themselves when you are having added pressure down there. Whether it is constipation or pushing to much, or even just having to carry to much weight(big babies)or are just being way more active on your feet. I have straight up always had them since I had my first baby at 21 and then mothering 5. I have taught myself how to prevent a flare up, but life happens. Get yourself prepared because you are about to be slightly on the road with your tour and family. I would make sure to heal yourself over the next two weeks or you will be very uncomfortable at the end of your days. 😉

Pelvic floor health also plays a role. Birth and pregnancy (even if you had a c section) are hard on our pelvic floors. So if it is weakened and you have stress or carry too much, don't sleep enough, never take a pause..then it shows ): but with babies it seems impossible to look after yourself...

I agree with the post that said Colleen is trying to do too much and should delegate at work times. Also, there is absolutely no need for any of your children to be up beyond 7:30pm latest. The babies are very capable of sleeping right through the night now without feeding! I suggested a while back that you get a sleep consultant/night nanny to come and sort this routine for you. It is what I do professionally and your life could be turned around in a few days. If I can also say that waiting with Flynn until he falls asleep is madness. This is making the whole process longer and not giving him any security. This may sound harsh but you have chosen some difficult methods and they need turning around. Your life does not need to be this hard.

Laying with her son until he falls asleep is not madness. She enjoys that time and it’s a special moment for just the 2 of them, kids are only little for a short time and I’m sure she would rather deal with the stress and exhaustion then to feel like she missed out on anything. Also if I put my kids to bed earlier than 8 they would be up at 5-6 am and I’m not interested in that. Every person in the world doesn’t thrive on the same schedule

@@crnrm15534 You can certainly enjoy many special moments every day with your children. But to do this past their bedtime, whilst making them feel insecure to be left to go to sleep alone is not good parenting. Flynn will be awake longer and longer and Colleen will regret starting a habit that can't easily be broken. Trust me, their sleep and their security is so precious. The twins also need to be asleep in the early evening and Colleen keeping them up so late when they are so tired is very hard to listen to. She really needs some professional childcare help with this and then she won't need to keep talking about how hard it is.

Colleen and Erik are the parents. They decide. It isn't OK for people to give their opinions in this manner on how someone chooses to parent. Tortilla talk question: would you ever consider renting out an office space or going to Kory’s or something for designated work time? I feel like that would make it a lot easier so that you don’t feel distracted. Even just a couple hours a week. So hemorrhoids are basically outpouchings of blood vessels after the walls have been weakened, typically by valsalva maneuver like pregnancy, constipation, and all the things you mentioned. It's like a little water balloon. So like a balloon, the walls of the blood vessel stay stretched, weaker, and easier to be stretched. Sometimes you can have hemorrhoids that never go away, but they can decrease in size or become less bothersome when the vascular pressure has been reduced, like after delivery, but they might never fully go away. Oh I didn't know that! I really wish she would be more precise with her words. There is a difference between a babysitter and a nanny. There's a difference between working full time and working a flexible, work from home job where you set your own hours. I still find it so funny after that one podcast where she said she doesn't spend that much money and still feels like she's poor, watching the vlogs and she literally buys so much stuff through Amazon or whatever. Like damn didn't realize most people have the luxury of paying money to have everything they buy delivered to their house every day

Are you able to leave the house to work? That way you can put your undivided attention to the show. The babies and Flynn can be at home with Eric, the babysitter and your parents. You will always be distracted at home.
@princessfaith925
@princessfaith925 2 жыл бұрын
I don't really think that would be practical, a lot of what she's doing uses craft supplies and it would definitely take more time to figure out exactly what she needs, pack it up, then take it somewhere than what having distraction free time to work is worth. And I think all the editing is done on the desktop computer in her office, so she couldn't take that somewhere either

As a person who used to help teaching baby wearing (wrapping, buckle carriers, etc.) I find it super interesting that you prefer wrapping the most. Many moms (including me with my oldest) find it the hardest one to figure out. Yay for baby wearing, whatever carrier best works for you! 💗

Something that might help is pushing bedtime earlier. Anytime between 6-7:30 is a normal bedtime for babies and toddlers. Earlier bedtimes also usually help naps and nighttime sleep go better too! Its glorious when 7:00 comes around and we parents have a few hours to ourselves ^_^

Colleen...babe... you need to utilize your nanny more now that you have one. You need to let go and let her and your parents take over. Like if you have to leave for a 8hr plus commute work day, you would not even see the kids... that is alot people's reality including mine. Just let go so you can work. Like please if you can afford not to, then do it, I would love it but I can't. I'm not saying you can either, but I am saying let go and do your work. This comment is left with so much love.

Tortilla talk question: I need to disclaim first but saying this is a genuine question and is I’m no way aimed to sound judgy! Is there a reason why you don’t have your babies on a schedule (I.e. wake windows, by the clock etc). Just curious because you said the babies bedtime is after 8:30 and I’ve always known babies bedtimes to be between 7-8. I’m curious to know if this is a choice or just because you’re not interested in putting them on a schedule. I always find a fascinating to see the way other parents do things. Mum of 2 here so please know I’m not judging or trying to sound rude just curious conversation from 1 mum to another xx

Hi Colleen! Love your vlogs! if the babies are having a hard time sleeping the one song that with get them to sleep in five minutes is Once upon a dream by Lana Del Rey. On KZbin their is an hour loop and it works. I work at a daycare and this song has manage to get every single baby to sleep in under five minutes. It also helps when kids are crying :) I know that all babies are different but this might be something to try. Hope this works!

Oh my goodness yes I’m a babysitter and guys…. It is very hard to work and do your job when the parents keep coming and sneaking in time with the kiddos😩 it sounds terrible but mom go work! Lollll😩 I’ve seen so many different styles of parenting.. I’ve seen parents who are wanting to be there every moment. Are there right when the baby cries. Wants to hold them right when they fuss or make a sound. I definitely can feel the stress radiating off of the parents who want to do EVERYTHING and make everything perfect. Which just isn’t possible with babies.. but it definitely makes me feel stressed watching kids when parents are like that😩
