'B' ? You just have higher standards than Andy. 🤣 And don't fret TOO much over breaking hearts. This might be the time to go to Stevie Wonder. "I Wish" or "Higher Ground" Or Billy Preston. Or Bill Withers. Give A&A a kick in that direction.

@jonsher76824 жыл бұрын
Much harder to grade when you have heard too little to compare; there is a tendency to grade lower to save the A for something even better. The more you listen to classic rock, the more you will have context to place and grade any new song.

My sis is 2 years younger than me, I'm 60 so there wasn't too much of a gap musically. She did have a couple of Donna Summer albums. I say "did" because I swiped them one day to attend Disco Demolition Night at the old Comiskey Park in Chicago. Can't believe it's been 40+ years. I did replace them a couple of days later, so I guess "borrowed" is a better term.

😢 💔 I almost cried as i read this... i came from a BIG family (mom, dad, 7 siblings and me = 10 people), i was in 4th grade in 1978, i'm the 2nd to the baby of the family (5 females, 3 males) And it was ALWAYS My older siblings and a few older neighbors who "taught ME the ropes" And Introduced ME to MY #1 PASSION (Singing and loving Almost all Genres of whatever's out there from Jazz to Tex-Mex to Do-wop to Gospel to Mariachi to Disco to Soft Rock to Hard Rock to Heavy Metal to Classical to Opera to Country Music)! MY FAV. to Sing will ALWAYS BE Country Music, Tex-Mex, Soft Rock, Mariachi and Hard Rock, woohoo! 🎹 🎵 ❤ 🎻 🎶 🙌 I've lost BOTH parents Now to cancer, two older brothers (one died at barely 23, the other was 34) And way Too MANY friends (some were old neighbors, others were friends from either jr. high school Or high school). The pain of losing a Loved one (family Or friends) NEVER goes away, so when i Listen to KANSAS' "Dust In The Wind" (MY FAV. from them), All i can do Now is to Sing along with their Lyrics and cry a little bit to TRY to ease My pain even if it's just a wee bit. 😢 💔 MUSIC IS ALL i KNOW. MUSIC IS ALL i've Ever WANTED to Pursue (as a Singer and a Musician), i was Never good at the piano Or the guitar, i suck at both and the Circle of Fifths IS the damn HARDEST thing i've ever Tried to Learn, so i completely GAVE UP, i even gave away My cheap guitar away to a friend because my freaking hands are TOO small, i guess i SHOULD have bought myself a small female guitar, my friend is a male so he was Delighted when i gave him my BIG guitar for FREE! IT SUCKS NOT being good at the piano or the guitar so Now i have to TRY and pretend to be "Happy" at My crappy job because the bills Still have to be paid (LOL!), But i'd give Almost anything to be TRULY HAPPY dancing, Singing, playing the piano and writing MY own Songs. Anywaysss... TOO much "Drama" for Tonight, haha haha! 😂😂 😝😝 🎶 🎻 "...'cause Nothing lasts Forever but the Earth and Sky..." 💛

Yes, exactly! I was pulling for an A+ grade because I loved this song when it first came out, and I was in college, and if someone of similar age today could love it, then that would justify my whole existence. (jk) But you know what...? Upon quick reflection, it made sense to me that someone who regularly listens to a different kind of music was not going to instantly fall in love with this, to the tune of an A+. That would mean she would probably have to stop listening to what she listens to now (assuming it's not all A+ caliber). I think it's actually high praise to have someone with a different genre preference come in and rate this kind of music that highly.
@garyr87394 жыл бұрын
Please everyone, give her some time - and a break. She has very little education when it comes to classic rock and roll. She is also not up on Alex and Andy's rating system. Remember they actually changed it to accommodate their own knowledge improvements after a time. He only gave he a choice of A-Z and an S tier. I think she thought she was giving a pretty good mark without know much about classic rock. What did she really have to base it on but a very limited knowledge she may have picked up from Andy. It is not like the rest of us that grew up listen to it day in and day out. I very much wish she will join Alex and Andy on a regular basis. It would be fun to see a new 'younger' person educate themselves, with our help of course (lol) on good music.

@bickleyjonas61453 жыл бұрын

I remember vividly my (two and a half years) older brother sharing and listening to all this great music with me and watching for my reactions the first time I heard them. He played guitar and had a band and his drummer's kit was in our basement for awhile and he taught me basics like stroke, beats and rudiments and told me I could use them but if I damaged them he would stuff me in his bass drum and hit the foot pedal until my ears bled. Needless to say I was extremely careful. I would jam with my bro to these songs and as good as he was I was equally as bad but he never gave me anything but encouragement and he treated me exactly the same as if he were practicing with his band. I got better though and got my own kit and we had some great memories jamming in that old basement. He's been gone now eight years and not a day goes by I don't think about the great times we had and all the great talks we shared and watching you share this amazing music with your little sis is really cool man.

Don't know if anyone else said it yet, YOU KIDS REEEEALLY MISSED OUT! I was lucky enough to be a kid in the 60s, a teen in the 70s, and in my twenties in the 80s.

The perfect introduction to Kansas. I really think sis was digging the vibe. Next: Supertramp -Goodbye Stranger. Cheers for sister and you for having a blast! 🥃

I would argue Logical Song or Take the Long Way Home over Goodbye Stranger as a girl depends on her sense of humor. Sacastic Logical Song if not TTLWH wins. Thinking of a song overall this one wasn't the A maybe different sounding band altogether The Doors, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Meatloaf "Hot Summer Night, Gordon Lightfoot Sundown...oh wait you guys haven't done 4/5 of those here, lol do that first. This was cool though keep doing it, her favorite style may not be yours but there is enough variety that it's still in the classics somewhere, I was never huge on Kansas can respect it, this song is good wouldn't have bern A fir me then either though to be fair. I mean no one I knew was listening to this era of music when I was in my teens/early 20s. I'm in my 30s now so based on your audience age statistics I'm hanging out in that wierd middle gap between you guys and the majority as I wasn't alive when my favorite music came out but I do know there is always so much to be found in the decades of music before you and majority of it is better no offense to music of last 20-25 years, well not a lot anyway, I just have never jived with what everyone else my age or even my older half sister 6 years and her friends listened to. I would be interested to see what your sisters area of older music is also there is a lot of in between you guys haven't gotten to.

The title track for Song for America is also great.
