We would not recommend that over here for adults. We give them more room.

You want filtration running 24/7 so the nitrifying bacteria stays alive.

Most cheap chillers are not great but you should be able to pick up some secondhand ones from Marine sites or something like that at a reasonable price.

Would you say these are easier to keep than fish? Or simply comparable? Ive always been under the impression they are quite specialist, but this video suggests otherwise as long as you have the correct equipment.

It all depends on the fish. Sone are super easy others almost impossible. As long as water chemistry, diet and environment are met most fish can be kept successfully. Axolotls are moderately harder than most commonly kept fish but a lot easier than a reef tank or freshwater rays etc.

My apartment stays at 68 degrees all year. Would I still need to purchase a chiller?

Ideally they do better colder but 68f it just the limit of what they can cope with long term.

Can you put 3 axolotls in a 40 gallon because I've read and the Petco people told me that you start with a 20 gallon, then add 10 for each extra axolotl? I just want a second opinion, and I'm thinking of getting a 60 gallon because I've also read they each need 20 gallons. 🙏✨ thank you!

I’d give them ideally around 20 gallons or more per axolotl each as they do get a decent size.

That tank is half the recommended size. You should definitely upgrade it.

The 60lt tank setup was going to be for baby axolotls but now houses a marine moon crab. The main tank in this video is 250lts,as we recommend for two or three axolotls.

@@paulstingray I have one sub adult in 150 liters and it requires at least one 50% change a week. Sometimes more. I feel anymore than 2 in the 250 would be a lot of work.
