Can you do a vid on how to secure yourself to roofs with a tether like what kind of tether system and brand you use or recommend, how to secure yourself in it (both in the anchor point and proper harness practices), how to ensure it's the proper length etc? It looks like you do most jobs without one but especially when starting out I'd use one. Sleek angled roofs with wet surfaces (from dew or after washing) are a recipe for disaster.

What if you fly a drone and print the peoples houses roof image. And hang it on their doors with a note "this is how your roof looks, if you need my service here my number". Taa taa, you would get 10 costumer easly in a few hours. But idk if shooting peoples house legal or not.

I used to do concrete garden edging before I retired. The best advertising method for me was Google Ads. Very powerful, you can define the geographic area you advertise in, the times of day and week and your daily spend. Watch some KZbin videos on how to do it. Google also help you set it up and call you regularly to refine your ad. Another way is mail box drops. Create a pamphlet and walk around an area and drop it in people's mail boxes. A little less confronting for customers than door knocking.

Because it’s not too steep. Also, self employed business owners such as him do not need to follow every single osha guideline. If I’m up on a roof that isn’t too steep I wouldn’t go through the extra time to get my rigging all set up either, its just a waste of time for nothing really, if I’m on a roof that actually feels sketchy and unsafe I will rig up. Otherwise no, he’s completely in the right doing that job with no ropes. Mind your business
@ruthlessluder
@ruthlessluder Жыл бұрын
@@Heyhowareya97 Yes I will mind my own business, but will also take my business elsewhere. Because if shit happens and you're underinsured or uninsured, the homeowner's insurance has to pick up the tab and possibly even out of pocket from the homeowner.

@@ruthlessluder well this guy and most of these channels do have insurance for this, if you dont have a steep roof and you dont already have roof anchors up there good luck finding someone who will do the job for you, because if its not that steep most companies will decide its unnecessary, and while they might be willing to if there were roof anchors since its not much extra effort, if theres not these are mostly small businesses who do this and they will tell you politely to kick rocks because not only is your request unnecessary obnoxious and extra work but its indicative of you being a customer they will find to be a pain to work with anyways

@ruthlessluder, that's why you never hire anyone unless they have insurance. If and when you decide to hire someone that's uninsured that's your fault. Simple as that!

@seattleprowash5464

yes WA state requires sales tax
@UndefinedStasis
@UndefinedStasis Жыл бұрын
@@seattleprowash5464 it depends on what state(in terms of size) your business is in and how the customer paid. Just as waiters or waitresses underreport their tips, contractors do the same; as long as they're paid in cash. Some will even give a discount if you pay in cash. If you don't, considering that most contractors charge the same, you'll be under bid on contracts resulting in you losing customers. This is especially true if they have non-American, aka under the books, employees. The later can also be said for employees, within their field, that are doing business, themselves on the side, to supplement their income. They'll buy the supplies, or whatever, under the business they work for, getting a large discount in the process and will undervalue their labor since they are being paid in cash aka no income tax on the business and personal end. There's a reason why most businesses charge 2-3x the employees wage for a service. You can nolonger upcharge materials all that much, since anyone, with internet access can look up the price of materials, all the profits solely rely on the upcharge of labor hours. A good example is mechanic shops, the cheapest around me is $100 an hour per person for labor but, the employee makes no more than 55-60k $27-30 an hour. So an employee, who is doing side work will charge 55-65 an hour. The employee ends up making more and the customer ends up saving more, it's a true win win.

How many days a week do you work? Is it consistent money... Making a few hundred dollars is cool but not if it's not consistent money.. thanks ..
@travissiegwart8276
@travissiegwart8276 Жыл бұрын
You're stating that it's not cool if it's not consistent. That's a pretty narrow minded view. My father in law snow plows from Nov-Mar each year and then does concrete work in the summer. The trick isn't finding consistent money, it's in diversifying until you can't fail. I have seven revenue streams right now, just paid off my house, and I'm 34 with five kids. Debt free and making life better everyday. My current plan has me retiring in 1,244 days.

If you want consistent money, get a job. Self employment has risks but also personal freedom.
@ryanwatson3116
@ryanwatson3116 Жыл бұрын
No really don't have a narrow mindset, I'm union auto worker, debating on getting into union HVAC for the pension plan. Honestly seems like everyone cuts grass or has a snow plowing service etc etc... again I was asking if it's consistent money plain n simple. Is the money there yeah Definitely but if your only pulling few jobs week then kinda iffy. Then along with the other landscape services out there, I used to mow while my boss cleaned the roof and gutters of customer house. So yeah every home could be a potential customer but only if they really care about how their house looks I see tons of house that needs power wash and roof clean but never do.
