congratulations, congratulations 🎉🍾🎈🎊 i’m a lurker for the past couple of months and i know that submitting to publishers is going to go super amazing for you 🎉 i’m glad to hear that this particular new leaf agent said they have you for your whole career i know that new leaf had one or two big agents that had a habit of dropping clients for not selling fast and big enough and it came out last summer (this isn’t to humdrum i only wanted to alert any queryin writers scrolling so they could check!). it looks very much like you have one that doesn’t do that there so i’m ecstatic for you! they represent so many superstars! i cant wait to read your book and have it on my shelves. and off track i’m a surprised that they mentioned women/femmes writing mlm as hard to sell, it seems that they are plenty of books that have that that pop up in right’s reports on publisher’s weekly (and idk being non-binary i think people have to be careful cause what you may think is a straight woman writing mlm may not actually be; when it comes to them maybe being trans or non-binary or genderfluid or figuring things out or agender and not needing to out themselves, or a queer femme that is exploring gender and sexuality in their writing). again off track it only got me thinking though! congratulations and congratulations what a wonderful way to start the year 😄😄😄

I've seen a lot about that too, but with this being a newer agent, I've decided to take the risk. I hope you have it one day! 🥰 and that is totally a fair point! I know it's such a nuanced conversation, one that I've been entrenched in for a while. (Before I even knew I was queer. Which like, the closet was glass but I still didn't realize 😂) It is very case-to-case. I remember when Becky Albertalli was forcible outed and it was so awful. It's a very deep conversation that I enjoy looking into and talking about, especially because writing is so exploratory and we never know how someone identifies! thank you again! 🥰💖

At some point in high school. Every idea I had just became mlm. I mean. I was going through shit so. Can’t really be surprised. And then for a hot second I was just changing everything to wlw bc I felt bad. But I think I’m calmer ab it now. And i realized, in doing all of that, gender doesn’t really matter to the story (surprise surprise). So I just let things be. And, regardless of gender, the main couples (most couples) will be gay, in some way. Or queer, in a generalizing way. Across the whole spectrum, anything and everything. Bc I am very gay. I want what I write, to be very gay. I also. I will talk to myself ab HOW gay my books are. Which are the least, most commercially marketable gay. You know. Like I should focus on this book bc stand-alone and gay is not too obvious. Things like that. Those conversations have been going on since I fully decided I’m going to write books, and that I want them published. So. Yeah. Some relatable points in this video.
