Another fantastic video and great adventure! At some point I will need to come back to your playground and do a travel by glider trip. It’s so much easier here in Europe…

We will have to do an exchange program! I am happy to host you, as would be most everyone out here. Happy solstice! Make some long flights for me.
@MarcoNierop3 ай бұрын
I would not agree with that, the heights above ground are much lower here in Europe and weather is not as predictable and consistent as in the south western part of the USA. Skysight is often very wrong about the weather in Europe. In the Netherlands Class A starts at FL55 during weekends at FL65, Above Germany and other countries you can get to FL100 in many places. But it is very rare we can climb to FL100. I have been flying competitions when cloud ceiling is not even at 3000ft (1000 meters)

I grew up in Carson City (many many moons ago), I remember seeing gliders all the time. I remember one time I counted 7 in the skies above Carson. If I remember correctly there was a lot of clouds and not much sunshine. Great video.

“I didn’t see a glider for the next two days?” For decades I advocate not to wear those Look-out limiting devices (Base ball caps) in any cockpit especially in general aviation infested airspaces 🥶. I know we all want to look cool but safety first 🙏🏻🙏🏾 Great footage of your soaring adventure 👍🏻👍🏾

@@8OrangePants you can use a perfect sunblock cream for that, I use the one that does not sting into your eyes while sweating. I am leaving for France Chauvigny LFDW today hoping the weather improves a bit to fly my DG 300. The JS3 electric self-launcher is definitely on my wishlist 😄🤗🤗🤗

I’m curious how you did this. Do you climb thermals and then glide to the next thermal climb again glide down to the next one? I fly Rc planes so I under stand a little how to glide. But I didn’t know you could “travel“ in a glider. Super cool stuff!

@@8OrangePants and what is the range of the battery for the self launch system? Can you use it often if needed? I’m really interested. Based in Sacramento so I might have to look into this as hobby. I’ve always loved airplanes but never really look into gliding. You got my interest peaked! I bet it’s amazing to soar the sierras!!!

It looked to me like you landed on an abandoned road somewhere out in the desert. Does this happen very often, that glider pilots land at places other than actual airports?
@8OrangePants2 ай бұрын
Not as a rule but maybe 10% of the time. This is an old runway we know to be safe. We keep each other up to date about landing alternatives.

The music itself is fine, but it would be better mixed differently. Simply lowering the music volume during the voiceover is the first step. The next level is using EQ to cut the frequencies that your voice uses which gives the impression of the music staying loud while interfering less with the intelligibility of the spoken words. But more to the point, very cool to see long flights like these!
@-108-3 ай бұрын
Someone without enough sense to raise his voice-over track above the noise floor just doesn't get it, and likely never will. Blocking shtty channels like this from your suggested feed is always the best solution.
