Always do research on where you're going to be and what things were used for when you go to haunted areas. I'm from Kentucky and I know a lot about Waverly Hills. The body chute was used so that the patients in the building still alive during the TB (Tuberculous days) Didn't freak out seeing just HOW MANY died to TB. That way they (The hospital) could do experiments and treatments on the still alive people to advance (So they say) research on TB. It was to mask the amount of death. They would have a hearse or ambulance waiting at the end of the tunnel, to pick up and haul off the dead bodies. They wouldn't go "flying" Down the chute either. Someone would walk them and their body bag and gurney down the smooth section while doing down the stairs and pile the gurneys back to back to back all the way up the chute to load them onto the ambulances that would cart them away. It was very sad, but had to be done so to not contaminate the hospital, keep the alive patients from panicking, and to give the deceased patients their rite to a funeral and autopsy. Also, the Halloween Decorations was from a haunted house tour that they don't do anymore. I hope this helps, but please make sure that you do your research before going anywhere. Not to mention, your friend was right, someone could have locked you on the 5th floor if you didn't at least take that piece of wood and put it in the room you'd be staying in. PS. The balls in the hospital is for Timmy, the little boy ghost, mainly seen on the 5th floor. Again, hope this helps!

That place has such history. Great video. Many versions of the room 502 story. the reports of the nurse hanging herself from the water pipes was false because the piping wasn't installed until three years AFTER the nurse's death. It was said that she hung herself from the doorway, which is probable. It was also said that she jumped from the belltower's windows. She WAS pregnant, and unmarried. It was never told if it was a doctor, but it was thought to be the head doctor at the time. Down on the train tracks a little bit away from Waverly, they found a premature infant in a trashbag. Some think it was her kid that she aborted herself. two most noted reports are that she either jumped (which I know to be truth, maybe not with her, but I do know ONE nurse jumped out of the belltower) or she hung herself from the doorway between room 502 and the showers.

The story was she was pregnant with a baby from one of the married doctors and also contracted tuberculosis as well and in those days to be unwed, or being with a married man and pregnant was serious tabboo. OMG...You almost forgot the death tunnel?...it was originally for getting hospital supplies and food but because the death rate was so rapid, and They didn't want to traumatize other patients with people that parished from the disease, they started using this tunnel, there would often be a hearse waiting at the bottom for bodies leaving the sanitorium.

Timmy was actually a 10-11 year old boy, Timmy loved playing with a ball with his favorite nurse, he also carried around a small treasure chest music box the his parents had given him, the nurse warned Timmy not to wind it up to much or it will break but he wound it up to much and it would no longer play after a spring popped. Timmy's parents both had the white plague which is why Timmy was living at Waverly hills hospital. Timmy's death was either by accident or on purpose, in the process of kicking around a ball he fell off the 5th floor of the roof or was pushed, since there was no evidence it was marker as an accident. The nurse that was very close to Timmy requested to keep the music box and the parents allowed her to, multiple years passed by and the nurse was starting to forget Timmy despite her best efforts to not forget until one day when the broken music box started playing again.

502 is Louisville’s area code, so that also be why it’s all over. It was a TB hospital and surgeries done were pulmonary. After a TB hospital was closed it was a nursing home but it was shut down by the state. I’ve been in there. It’s worth the night historical tour!!

The owners set up Waverly Hills for Halloween each year and hold a haunted house and a bunch of other Halloween activities. Te balls everywhere are for "Timmy/ Tommy". He's a young boy who passed there. People leave toys, balls, dolls, and candy there all the time for the children who passed there of TB. And the toys have been documented on multiple occasions moving on their own​ as if being played with. And people leave flowers all the time for the nurse.
