Third times a charm. I'd say extend the snorkel and get the exhaust up there too. You could be getting too much back pressure on the motor from the water. If that don't work, look into getting a small diesel, maybe a Duetz, this will eliminate the need for electronics. And get full waders, for you and POPS. I was expecting Scott to take a spill when he was trying to get the bike unstuck.

Yes, raise both the intake and the exhaust as well as waterproof the electronics including the instruments. Might also consider floatation, might make recovery easier and you know it will need recovery sooner rather than later.

There are 2 ports on the carburetor (one is a vent and the other is an overflow drain) that will need hoses routed up to the highest point possible.
@jdemeter4357
@jdemeter4357 2 жыл бұрын
And the vent shouldn't act as a funnel, extra wide opening that catches more water and add a purge valve of some sort.

Good idea! Maybe also silicone the spark plugs and coil wires. Flex sealing the whole engine wouldn’t help what your talking about and it’d jus be more likely to overheat. The folks running deep water mudding and such probably have a few more good pointers to pick up too.

For what you are using the Rebel for, you should swap out the rear sprocket to get a bit more low end grunt. The truck looks great. Dad did a nice job! Also, make a cover for the air intake snorkel so water splashed up from the front tire doesn't go down it.

Nice job on the bike and the truck Dad! Yes, part however many it takes! Extend the exhaust above the water level too so water can't get into the engine if it dies. Seal the spark plugs and all ignition components. Put one-way vacuum valves on the carb overflows. Put a deflector and screen over the air intake. Etc., etc...

Whenever you have a waterlogged motor like that you need to pull the spark plugs and then turn it over that way the Pistons won't be compressing the water with really just breaks things and it will evacuate the water out of the cylinder heads. Very cool idea and it was awesome to watch as usual!

Scott, you are the man, along with your dad. He's pretty cool, and it's clear where you got your craziness from! I would offer a small suggestion on your snorkel. Turn your vacuum head/snorkel around to face you. When you hit the water at high speed, and the wall of water hit it, I knew you were in trouble. So much for my armchair motorcycle expert input. If you reply, say hi to Leo, my nine year old son, who is a devoted Scott fan🙂

Sometimes, when you get a bike drowned out by water- you can pull the plug wires off and attach the wire boot loosely enough that it makes an arch between the plug wire and the plug and it will increase the spark to the plug and the motor will start after turning it over several times. I don't know exactly how it works, but I've done it many times on several different make bikes after going through deep water in rain storms. Also, on carburated bikes you can also open up the drain screws on the carburetors and let them fill with fresh fuel.

Hey scotts, I'm not sure about the laws in Kentucky but Mike from Streetspeed717 just got in legal trouble in Pennsylvania for driving his truck in a creek. The state said it was a form of pollution and he got fined a good amount for it. Just letting you know in case you could end up in the same situation.

Has potential...but, couldn't help myself and have compiled a list of simple but needed improvements. An interesting idea would be to set up an offroad race/fun run using modified street bikes for a course consisting of creek riding, hills, woods and fields. Think Enduro similar terrain with more creek time (snorkels) set up either like a short lap Hare scramble or vintage ISDT qualifier. You would have to use stock engine/frame in all bikes and classes could be based on modifications, displacement, number of cylinders, running chains or knobbys.... you could even have a pre 1975 vintage offroad class...just a thought. I live in NC so I'll make the drive.

Try this Scott, put some check valves on the exhaust if you can. similar to what a tractor has. That should keep some of the water out of the pipes. Also cut at log out. that was the issue, that log makes you loose momentum. If that was out of there, I bet you make it no problem.
