I SOLD my BMW 440i for a WORSE car?!! Here’s why.

Hey guys, thanks for watching the video. Just to clear some stuff up about the current engine here is a response I made to someone asking the difference between the M2 and a normal 35i here was my response. and if you want more info on the N55T0: Thanks! They’re pretty different, F80/F82 suspension, LSD, F80 Brakes, Slightly built internals. (DCT or Manual F87), Vs (ZF8 or manual F3X) Here’s more info This isn’t the normal N55, it’s the N55T0 Which used a good amount of engine parts from the S55, Rod Bearings, Pistons, It also used the S55 oil pan. The normal N55 has issues starving itself of oil while pulling G’s. The N55T0 also used S55 spark plugs and ignition harness. Along with a N20 Blow off valve. All this coupled with a Different ECU tune. It comes with 365hp, Limited slip, M suspension, M brakes. If you were to drive a m235i and switch to a M2 you would immediately be able to feel a difference in the driving aspects. The N55T0 is comparable to a Gen 1 B58. Both stock turbo mod for mod. Along with IMO the N55 sounds a bit better than the B58. But like I said in the video go drive one that’s why I love the car so much, as soon as you get into a car with full M suspension etc. I can tell even at parking lot speeds the difference between the two. Hi Jack, congratulations, the M2 is a nice car! 😎👍🏽 As a BMW Fan and Owner myself, there is one car from the current line up, I would recommend to you (since you mentioned you like sporty „little“ cars with a manual transmission) - the actual Z4. I drove „only“ the Z4 30i and it made a lot of fun! I don’t know if there is a manual transmission for each engine option, but this could be a interesting option for you as a „weekend driver“. For a daily driver there is maybe not enough trunk space and so on. Keep enjoying your M2 and always a safe and fun drive. Greetings from Germany, Julian

Def not a down grade, I sold my 340 6spd awd for the m2 lci. I could’ve bought the m2c but I preferred the n55b30T0 much better. And the modding community has exponential now. This car feels leagues better and achieving 500whp isn’t hard and I believe is the perfect balance for this car. The n55b is different from the others and the extra cooling plus forged internals from the s55 is a bonus.

As a former N55 owner, I now have a 440I, The N55 is one of the best sounding Inline 6 for BMW. Honestly if I had little more wiggle room in my budget, I would buy a M2. Basically a Modern day E46 M3 Great choice, love the look of the OG M2's!

Make sure to get the charge pipe changed out for a metal one - the stock plastic ones are known to crack/rupture under load because the plastic gets brittle!

I changed my charge pipe on all of my BMWs even my b58 and my n54 on my 335is. Even need to do it on the s55 engines , bmw cheaped out on that and crank hubs on s55.

if the M2 was a xdrive id have gotten one. I use my 440 as a daily and live in PA so i needed the xdrive

Sad to see the 440i go as a 440i owner myself but I totally understand your reasoning for going with the M2! Congrats on a beautiful new car! Also N55s are probably the best sounding turbo engines bmw has ever made, the B58 is very closely tied with it though, especially B58TU which has a much crisper throttle response imo

Another thing to note about the N55 in the M2 is that it’s not the same engine you’d get in a m235i or 3/435i, it’s had a handful of upgrades on the M2 😎 irrc it even has different rods

I just sold my g20 m340i stage 2 For a f87 M2C 6mt . way more fun, The m340 just felt regular when driving, it didn’t feel special or fun. Where as the m2 is so much more fun even in day to day driving . Congrats on the Og m2 !

You're right about the 440i missing something. I was happy with my 440 until I drove the M4. Everything I dislike about the handling and steering feel of the 440 the M4 fixes. My next one for sure will be an M car 😁 And great choice on the M2! The B58 sounds good but the N55 sounds great 🤤
