you'd need someone actually knowledgeable to do a video. Limiting of gems in tournaments, pandora mode tech being discovered late, the patch comming too late, and consumer practices people hated even though it was the standard at the time.

Despite the flaws, this game is a lot of fun. With more patches it could been great. But it was dead on arrival because of the dlc fiasco. The time out thing could been fixed with time stopping during supers/activations and grabs.

i loved the cgi trailers(they were great,funny and told a small story of it's own even if it didn't really have a conclusion and even though i did wish we got a story mode and that in hindsight strange episodic series on youtube/the vita version as well as the comic that revealed ingrid was the creator of pandora made me want it more,though i give a lot of credit for just sticking with an arcade mode and not building up anything else/straight up lying about a new story mode like mvc3 and while it's probably my least favorite vs. game i did like a lot of the newcomers street fighter wise.)

Playing it nowadays is really fun tbh, one of my favorite games to lab and mess with rn, there's an active Discord community for the Steam version, community patch removes GFWL and fixes up some other stuff, the 2013 update did wonders to this game, but they already shot themselves in the foot on launch.

I've always assumed that Capcom used Poison, Hugo, Rolento and Elena models here and added it to USF4. It seems to have a few signs of it. And I always thought Tekken 7 was salvaged from the Tekken X Capcom plans but scrapped because of this game. Tekken 7 had a bit of SF elements in it. Akuma and Geese in it shows how it could have been. The addition of supers gives it some weight.

considering almost all of street fighter x tekkens stages were brought into usf4(making me think before it failed there was going to be cross connection with both.)i do think tekken 7 is going to be some lead in to tekken x street fighter with akuma's presence.(though wouldn't be surprised if it was forgotten considering how tekken recently suffers from sonic adventure syndrome with it's presentation.)i do wonder what those cancelled projects matt was talking about.

I know you hate this game, but it was honestly my favorite Capcom fighter from the PS360 generation. I'm sure a part of that is due to how it was actually playable online as opposed to the slideshows that were SF4 and MvC3, but still. I think it was a great game once you got past all the corporate bullcrap. Honestly if they just added tag-team to SF4 it would have been a much more fun game to me. Tag-team really helps smooth out lopsided matchups, we just rarely see that potential explored because most tag-team games also have assists that almost always ends up making matchups broken all over again.

A lot of effort went into this and if you put aside the few flaws and bad business practices that Capcom did, it could be looked at more positively from the majority of people. Aye this game and USF4 are my two favorite fighters and I play a lot of fighting games.

I love this game in terms of the gameplay, I admit the whole dlc and gem stuff really ruined it but I keep going back to play it all the time. The Tekken character in the Street Fighter engine fit really well and I feel like they could make a whole spinoff game series using the combo system and engine of SFxT with the Tekken style movesets on original characters.

@AT Productions I bought the 360 version so I missed out on Megaman and Pacman. The battle gems were garbage but overall it was a great game. Tag system was fun. Once I played the Vita/ps3 version with all the dlc it was a much better experience. The Steam version is a Games for Windows Live mess that takes more effort to set up than to play.

What killed this game for me was that at the time the main console to play SF was 360, me and my friend were (and still are) heavily into SFIV. When the game dropped the excitement was through the roof because we could play as a team with our characters. Only to realize that feature was left out of the 360 version

The gems and DLC practices were the worst parts of the game by far. I thought the gameplay was pretty bad until the 2013 patch came around, but by then a lot of people had already quit the game. It's the shame because the Tekken characters were translated pretty well into 2D.

I remember the local FGC playing this game for about a month and going right back to SFIV.

SFxT was honestly the perfect storm of bullshit. It's downfall was both a result of Capcom and of the times. -These were the first Auto Combos I could remember and they were NOT received well. Not only that, but the combo damage scaling was horrendous. The system allowed for super elaborate combos, but every single hit scaled the damage to shit. It was FAR more effective to link a few heavies together which kinda shit on the creativity of it all. All of this made the game look kinda scrub friendly. -This was also around the time when DLC practices and reused assets were finally starting to be put under a microscope by the fans --especially from Capcom (SF4, SSF4, SF4AE, SF4AE-2012.) -I think because this was a new series, Capcom decided to test a bunch of wild shit and see what might stick. I think they also wanted to see how far they could take DLC practices which lead to... -On disc DLC. FOLLOWED BY DLC gems which literally BLOCKED FOR YOU. I don't think the game ever recovered from that... SFxT is the only new game I've purchased I've ever returned out of spite. You've GOTTA make a Wha Happun lol
