I kinda like the idea behind the "Turning the Tide" mechanic even if its executed in too simple of a way. Controlling the character on the far end is definitely less intuitive, so getting the upper hand and forcing the camera to be more advantageous to you is an interesting idea. It treats the incongruence of the camera angle as an actual intended advantage.

the "crunch" at the end of matches kinda sounds like eating a senzu bean, which someone would do after a rough fight, maybe even multiple (krillin had to give vegeta multiple after his fight with 18)

Just chopping off arms and legs first, and then just try to destroy eachother with headbutts. Unironically had SO MUCH FUN with this game! Edit: We were playing this when we were around 12 or 13 years old. Ahhhh, good old times!

I think here Spyro had a better take. As originally the purple dragon was leaned towards kinda "more mature" concepts like the dark gems in games like Heros Tail. but aparently the developers noticed he wouldnt work good if he stays in his confort zone, so they took a new direction with Legend of Spyro. Cause even if you like or not, it feels like its own think and it doesnt feel forced or out of place as it makes its best to reuse older elements of the franchise into a new take. Even bringing likeable characers like Cynder and, i would dare to say, feeling like the franchise was growing up with us in those chaotic years

I still own this game on Wii. For me, it lands in the "So bad, it's good" category. Sure it has sluggish gameplay, jarring as heck graphics, complicated controls, unneeded quick time events and the fact that every buff and weapon can be applied to every single character which was completely unnecessary. However there are plenty of good things about it. The concept is cool, most of the special move animations are frickin awesome, the character designs look very cool (for the most part), the character stories are interesting, most of the things that the characters say before, during and after the fights are frickin hilarious and they actually have a female skeleton with a interesting backstory, that shoots a crossbow via mafia style, has a cool name and makes a reference to George Thorogood. This game is certainly not something I would play repeatedly but it's just a little guilty pleasure of mine.
