Shame you didn't dig into Ancient Combat more. It's a terrible game, for sure, but it's easily one of the more entertaining party games I've played in my day. I've actually been hosting fighting tournaments with around 10-12 participants in it yearly for about 10 years now, and it's easily the highlight of the year. Just janky, so-bad-it's-good fun.

This game was hilarous. The first DW game was better than the second to me imo for the characters and the funny Pirate.

A game suggestion: Street Combat for the SNES. It's a reskin of a Ranma 1/2 fighting game. But the company thought that anime would never catch on in the west (LOL) so reskinned all of the sprites into the most bland, mediocre characters that you could imagine. I didn't know any of this when I rented it as a kid, however. All I knew is that it made me feel like I wasted my allowance money on the rental.

So fun fact, in all original prints it had grabs, they had to remove them though, as they referred to them as "catching" the opponent. Discovery chammel sued them and won. Its why your pirate uses an harpoon instead of an net

If they did work on a throwing system, it probably clashed with the weapons and armor, so they probably felt it was better to scrap it entirely than spending even more hours they didn't have trying to refine it.

Okay, I've got a recommendation for you: Gundam Battle Assault 3. Maybe the whole series should be considered but I only played the 3rd and it is...lacking, to say the least.

This game is awesome, I just bought it a few months ago to harass my roommate with. Protip: throwing the double spear as a viking the moment the match starts guarantees one will instant headshot your opponent

I’m being completely honest when I say that I’ve had more fun doing casual round-robins with my friends in this game and Legends than I have with many full-prices triple A games. They’re hilarious and janky pieces of shovelware, but the devs completely succeeded in making it easy for anyone to pick up and play. It is *very* accessible dumb fun that is only enhanced by the awkward presentation and amateurish voice acting. Btw I’m a Centurion and Shaka Zulu main fight me
