Nothing new in games in general but first time I've seen it in rust. Players used to do it in Ultima Online (probably one of the first and best MMOs). A player that was dead could see the living but not vice versa (until necromancy/spiritspeak came into the game). This meant that you could position dead players on other accounts at specific points which would provide you with the intel of what high level event/spawn another group might be doing.

Plenty of people do it, including some youtubers, you can notice it in some of the things they do. Only they are not so loud about it as it can be a fairly unfair advantage and get them banned in some servers. I wouldnt be surprised if either facepunch and/or plenty of servers start adding rules/limitations about it just from this video or its potential results.
