likely only played very popular games he could rent from blockbuster as a kid. i get that. people grilling him in the comments for not knowing some obscure jrpg or whatever need to realise that not everyone played the same games they did. also, fixing consoles doesn't mean youre automatically a big gamer, it's basically just a specialised computer that youre fixing the parts for and flipping for a small profit. i respect it, honestly. people who don't know how to or can't fix up consoles themselves get a decent deal on a working system and the flippers make a living.

@lucymorrison I mean all respect to the folks who know how to work on the hardware. Heck as someone who's been getting more into watching console modding videos (whether on a software or hardware level) lately, I deffo got the impression that not every person cares that much abt the game catalogues from a self-interest perspective. They enjoyed the modding more than what they can do with it after the fact. They enjoyed the results but may not take advantage of them on the regular. Point is, they're having fun with the console hardware and things you can do with older machines rather than still using the older stuff for themselves, for that initial purpose it was for. Which as you said with people who restore consoles and flip them, I respect it, since at least I can see how excited some of them get abt the process, even if not all of them are taking advantage of the mods they do on a casual basis for themselves. Mind you, some of them do ofc, but as I've seen with some of the videos and their thoughts on the mods they've done, the process was more fun for them than the use of the results. They won't have a personal use for every single one of them after all. As you said though, shouldn't factor much what games they grew up with either obviously. Sure hearing abt stuff I didn't know is more fun for me bc learning more abt stuff I don't know interests me more so, but doesn't take away from folks who are out here saying they wanna what's up too. Honestly prolly takes more confidence to say you didn't know smth than did. Since like you said, folks love to goof on somebody who doesn't know the stuff the other person knew all this time. However, it shows more confidence to admit that in my book. No shade to this creator either, it was just a video reced to me at the end of the day in that moment. I hope he'll still have fun however he has it and thank you for your perspective in correlation to the video.

The fact that Xbox console still works with its dvd drive functional, that's a prime target for modding right there. Remove the clock capacitor, throw in a modchip, easy mod

Additional Comment: Regarding the dirty PS1 - it might be that the controller (and more) were left on the console for a while, hence why only half of the console is yellowed; this might also explain why the controller was also. Just a thought!

the way it's yellowed makes me believe it was due to cigarette smoke drying out in the same room as it. As someone who lives with a smoker (that's trying to quit, thank you mum ❤) that yellowing on grey/white plastic is unmistakably caused by tobacco.
