The only thing i would keep in mind is external temperatures. So red and black gas do have a place when considering the bottles of gas will most likely be stored outside during games. And green gas bottles are thinner and effected more easily by temperature. So it makes the mags near impossible to fill. Just something to conisder but great informative video.
@GBBEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
That's a good observation. I noticed that the green gas, red gas, and black gas cans that I used for testing had the same thickness. For propane tanks, the thickness of the container has significantly thicker walls. I store my gas cans indoors and I waited an hour to make sure the cans warmed up to an inside temperature of around 18C before filling up the mags. If the cans were stored outside I would be cautious, especially in warmer weather where the gas pressure increases. Thanks for the clarification!

@@GBBEnthusiast in the uk each bottle is thicker. Hence the upside to red gas. I don't bother with black usually, since - 2 is about as cold as it gets mostly

You've just confirmed what I was thinking. My tests weren't this exhaustive, I bought black gas because my WE MP5 really doesn't like cold weather. And indeed with black gas it cycles more enthusiastically but it still can't finish the whole mag, the BB count is about the same on GG and black gas. This was last autumn when the temp was around 15℃. So this autumn I though I try red gas, this time I tested with my KWA USP which also hates the cold. This was in even colder weather, around 5℃ and the red gas made no difference in the sense that there wasn't enough gas pressure for the slide to pull out the nozzle from the hopup unit even with the red gas. Since I bought them, I will use them in the morning, you know at the beginning of the gameday, when it's colder, but they definitely don't worth the money.
@GBBEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much what I was thinking too. Sometimes I do feel a bit more kick with the red gas and black gas, but judging by the FPS, I didn't really see that much of a difference. Not to mention, there wasn't that much of a difference when shooting the GBBs in cold weather. I guess in this case your mileage may vary because there are others who have had a better experience with their red gas and black gas. Perhaps it depends on the brand of gas you use?

Yes, sir. I always run propane unless a field requires green gas. I don't want to pay twice the price for gas, especially because most of my collection is gas.

I wish you used a vfc gbbr, i was thinking about getting a tm mws but went with the vfc mcmr being that I already have two Ghk’s and all I run is propane, propane does the job just fine for me during the winter and I live in New York. Also I’m aware it maybe colder where you live.
@GBBEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
I wish I could use the VFC, sadly I don't have access to one. How does your MCMR run? It's at the top of my list minus the GHK AK. I tested the GHK at -3C and -7C and it worked but with significant decrease in ROF. That being said, the TM also experienced significant ROF decreases. The advantage of the TM is that it uses a plastic buffer and is designed for 134a so it seems to run okay on propane especially in the winter. The test was only done at short range but in the future if I have access to longer ranges, I may do a revisited cold weather range test. Thanks for your comment!

What happen to the fps lows of the mws that saw I. The 100s why weren’t they calculated in ?
@GBBEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
I remove the fps lows for some of the results because: 1) It could have been a result of the GBB not shooting in line with the sensors of the chrono (sometimes happens) 2) The mag may have been running out of gas 3) These are outliers in the data set and would skew the data Good catch!
@matthewjordan84522 жыл бұрын
That makes a lot of sense I didn’t think about it like that. I was just curious they did seem very random readings . Thank you for this video though I was debating on whether to get red gas or not. Also I’m trying to lower my fps on my Gbbr I just order gas that is for Japanese guns and or abs slides do you think that will help lower my fps?

Is it okay to use red or black gas during the summer? And will it improve the fps of my gbbr?
@GBBEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nikko, The FPS will definitely increase in the summer when using red and black gas and I would recommend not using such high pressure gas if your GBB/GBBR is rated for green gas only. Green gas will kick much harder at 30 degrees so I can’t imagine how much more the red and black gas would. You would be at risk of damaging the internals of the GBB/GBBR if it’s not rated for CO2. If it’s rated for CO2 you would be safe.

There's something wrong with either your test or the gas you are using. I use both an MWS and a WE and I notice a huge difference between the different types of gas, in the winter the temperature is typically between 5C and 0C where I live, and with green gas my mws is weak and my WE does not work at all. But with black gas they shoot fine, I can clearly feel the difference in gas type. Green gas = different brand. Red = Nimrod Black = Guarder POWER UP But when the temperature gets too far down, all types of gas will lose too much pressure and minus 7C is too low
@GBBEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
I tried to keep the same brand of gas in order to keep the test fair. I bought green gas, red gas, and black gas. All of the mags were left outside on the same table for half an hour to cool down to the outside temperature. I chrono tested all of the mags at around 15C and I didn't see a significant difference in FPS between all the gases the most being 10 FPS. I even used different GBBRs (TM vs GHK) to make sure it wasn't the inconsistency of the platform. From your experience, maybe with green gas the MWS is weak but I usually run it on propane and I don't have any issues. When testing it on green gas the TM did feel a little bit weaker, especially when compared to the propane. With regards to the cans of gas being faulty, I can't comment because I do not have the equipment or know-how to test the composition of the gases inside the can so I assume what is advertised is what I get. Perhaps different companies have different quality of green gas and the one I chose isn't very good. If the black and red gas work for you, that's great continue to keep using it. I made this test because I was always curious about the differences between the gases because I always heard one is better for cold weather performance but had to try it myself to verify. I just don't think the price is worth it because I can get a can of propane for $8 and a black gas is $40 which is 5x the price for a measly increase of 10 FPS.

ya same here i use green red and black gas from nuprol and it definitely makes a difference on how many rounds i can get out of them at lower temps. also red and black gas kick way harder at room temp

@@TehPh1L Perhaps the brand of gas makes the difference? I did feel a harder kick at room temperature but that didn't translate into any significant FPS differences in my case.
