damn, that was some pretty damn amazing detail in your dungeon, but i noticed that your frames were struggling a little bit when you turned your mouse into other directions, maybe it's time to learn how to do culling so that the game only picks up objects of what you are looking at instead of the entire dungeon where the frame loss happens. but damn that dungeon looks amazing and really creates the feeling of an long since forgotten past history location that holds ancient secrets that are mysterious and scary, i want to know more about this location, but i understand why you didn't give away too much detail, so when we finally do get to play this mod, it will all be fresh and amazing to play.

Holy crap this is amazing. This is definitely the sort of place I'd clear out first then go back and walk around just taking in the atmosphere, most likely set up a small camp to rest for the day in the big chamber with the waterfall and broken ceiling - place a bedroll somewhere out of sight, have a seat in a spot with a nice view, munch on some apples, take a swig of ale and just relax, soak it all in. Maybe take care of the equipment in the meantime or patch some wounds or even just read a book enjoying the ambience. Can't wait for skyblivion to come out! Unfortuantely I'm already applying as a volunteer for beyond skyrim: morrowind and not really as a location maker but rather a writer, nevertheless I'm very impressed with your work and can't wait to see it all come to life!

So, this is just a thought I had; it's not intended to pock holes or make light of your efforts, but at 6:41 the pillars that are there around the water and statue, especially the broken ones. I get that it's a way to depict the environments age, but I've been seeing it everywhere lately with the skyblivion project and some other games and media I've been looking at, but my point is, WHY are these pillars HERE and HOW did they breakdown? It's easy to make a ton of clutter in an environment, but it's hard to make it look like a natural progression of time taking its toll. One thing I thought of that doesn't necessarily fix the two problems I've brought up, but it's something I noticed immediately is that the pillars that are broken it seems that the bottom portions of which are just missing and that doesn't quite make sense they wouldn't likely dissolve in stagnant water and even if it could it'd still be a sizable piece of stone, you could fix that small inconsistency by just placing a few chunks of broken pillar in or along the water side roughly where the pillars are now. I don't think these are huge problems, but I've been playing, and looking forward to, a game called Baldur's gate 3 which is currently in early access, and I've seen some visual "inconsistencies" there too, aside from bugs of course, my point is small, but I think many people notice these things, but choose to just let them slip or just glaze over them without much care either way I think it'd lend something grounding if you added an extra layer of planning when it comes to future mapping projects. Especially, the WHY something is HERE/THERE, HOW did it end up like this, and WHAT can you make that seems "natural." Sorry, for the long comment. I just wanted to make my thoughts available. :D I'd actually really like to discuss other things too if anyone is interested in this kind of stuff.
@Lavourrin2 жыл бұрын
Lots of game designers put rubble everywhere, but there is nothing around that this rubble could come from. The surrounding area is intact.
@MarkyD.Ingram2 жыл бұрын
@@Lavourrin Yeah, that was one of the main points I was trying to get to. I understand that it's meant to show age or how dilapidated something is, but if it doesn't make intuitive sense then people can take notice subconsciously taking the player out of the immersion of a location. Honestly, I'm fairly positive that Vanilla Skyrim and Oblivion does it all over the place, though remembering back I think Oblivion just had less clutter all together presumably to limitations then again I haven't play that one nearly as much. Either way, I think it'd lend a great deal of "realism" and immersion to the environments if one takes the time to ask why something is the way it is rather than placing it out of some sort of artistic decision. That being said, I don't want to at all wreck anyone's ideas artistic choices just to further investigate why something might be the way it is. I mentioned this to my father who's also interested in building and creating things and one of the immediate questions he had for same spot at 6:41 was where the light sources were emanating from especially the one along the water and the statue itself, the water in the previous version was far darker than the latter.

This is so incredible. Question though, is somebody overseeing what people make in the creation kit? Is there someone you just send what you have made and then judges if the team will implement things you make? How does that look?
@HeavyBurns2 жыл бұрын
The team has department leads which are in charge of going through and reviewing claims before they are implemented, typically if a level designer has an interest in claiming a specific interior they will inform the interior lead, create it in creation kit and then send the plugin back for review to be merged :)

@5226-p1e2 жыл бұрын
@@stannisbaratheon6637 that's at least nice. i was asking a modder if he could essentially do the same thing to make it easier to install for folks who aren't as adept in installing the more complicated mods, and he essentially said it was impossible. it was the survival mod for FO4. i found that kind of weird because there are loads and loads of additions of mods that have been simplified by merging all of the needed assets into one master file for ages now, but idk much about modding and so i could be wrong about this because it was a more complicated setup. it has like 5 or 6 seperate mods that you needed to install in order to get the final mod to actually function properly. i think in most cases for such a great mod, most modders that i have seen create their own survival mod, tend to create all the systems to get their mod working on their own. like the mod for skyrim se called sunhelm survival, everything you need in order to get the mod working is in the one file, there might be some addon files, but they are optional files and aren't needed as the base mod handles everything else.

I haven't been excited for ES6 since Skyrim first released, back in 2011. The only reason I even put so many hours into Skyrim in the first place was the mods, and I'm willing to bet that, unless there is some massive shakeup with Bethesda, it's gonna stay that way when ES6 finally hits. But Skywind and Skyblivion? My favourite ES game and Oblivion, both remastered by people who actually remember what made those games good? Yeah, definitely excited on that front.

@mortemtyrannus88132 жыл бұрын
@@raskolnikov6443 And Bethesda is also the reason these "games" are only good as modding foundations nowadays. Skyrim was shit. It still is shit. Same with Fallout 4. Mods are what made those games good. Mods which, I might add, are not creations of Bethesda themselves, but of the fans of these worlds. I called Morrowind my favourite ES game, and that has less than a quarter of the mods Skyrim has on the Nexus alone (nearly 10k for MW compared to 70k for Oldrim and 55k for SSE), and yet MW was the first game Bethesda released with their modding tools. Seriously, don't try to defend Bethesda on the grounds of great mods. A good game shouldn't need mods, they should be something the fans make to make a good game better.

Fantastic idea, to tease people a delicious dungeon while also showing them how the sausage is made. I'm a technical black hole; yet after years of using other's mods in Morrowind, I eventually overcame my hesitation and opened one up in the CS to tweak it to my liking. Next thing, I'd become impatient waiting for my perfect mods to come along and begun just making them myself. It's all about the imagination - the idea - and the follow-through, rather than 'talent' or skill with computers.
