Stuffing is called stuffing bc it was stuffed in the bird. Its called dressing when its cooked outside the bird cavity and in a pan. So ya, Stuffing was STUFFED into something, dressing was not. Source: I am a Chef. Pedantic i know. but that is the literal difference between the 2.
