I can attest that having reflective insulation as close to the heat source (you) is warmer. Conductive insulation, yeah, put it where you want. I've had an exped ultra 5 out for about 10 nights so far, but only into late September so the ground hasn't been that cold yet. It is comfortable, though. As a bit of a big lad meself, I've just come to realise 1) if the grounds cold, I need the pad fully inflated to not get cold spots where my arse bottoms out and touches the floor 2) which means I have to sleep on my back, else I get hip pain.

All of the accessories have come a long way since I’ve been camping on the beach. I could have used a right back at ya heat mattress for those cold beach nights. I’d just pile all those pads on top of each other for a full size mattress 😂

A great video for those of us that are not gear heads that automatically go for the expensive alternatives because of there name,I've got that flextail mat it's comfy cheap and warm I'm really impressed with it,I must have a newer version because mine has velcro strap and the bag is bigger The only thing it's missing is the bag doesn't have a valve to use as a pump sack.

Yeah I'm guessing that's because they sell PUMPS to blow them up! 🤣 These companies aren't stupid ya know 😜🤣🤣 Also, it's good to know that they must have listened to feedback from people using their pads and added the strap and made the bag bigger. 👍

I have this year discovered the outdoor revolution night fall £35 , it doesn’t have much information to share but it has thermal polyurethane and a built in pump I’m 6.2 foot and it’s long enough for me and feels very comfortable

Good sound and vision, the snow gave a good light, the tent was super large and high,espec., if Paul does one with you.I liked the sleeping pads you tried out, my old pads were rubber backed canvas, hard wearing but heavy, never had a puncture though, they just stank chemically.

I’m not sure I will need to worry about the warm factor here my winter is 20 to 27c and worst at night is 12-14c. I would have to do tests on tent air conditioning lol. Great vid

Great vid Grizzles, love Fends snow coat, would she wear the booties? My Queens don't like getting their paws wet, hence 2 hr bathroom trips to find the one dry spot 😂😂😂 when you find a true double fold up insulated waterproof mattress with legs raised off the ground, I might think about a winter camp out, but I don't think the winter camping will ever be on my list, you are a brave brave Happy Camper with or without a numb bottie?? it was minus what !!enjoy yourself 😂😂😂👏
