The zippers are failing from oxidation I suspect and if they were waxed or lubricated maybe 1-2 times a year they should be fine. As a kid in the early 70's my grandparents used to dubbin all the zippers on my snow suits and jackets. It really helped maintain the zippers and, of course they were always much easier to move up and down.

Long lasting glow in the dark soles would be an excellent addition to aid Night Time running. I used to do long distance running at night and can see the benefit of a sole that glows in the dark for making vehicle drivers aware of a runners presence. These wouldn't last long enough to be useful though. I also don't think they'd be very comfortable to run in seeing as they're a fashion shoe rather than running shoe.

I think you should weld a steel plate to the bottom of the round stock so you can get more consistent reactions across different shoes that have different materials on the heel. For example how on the yeezy there is a patch with no rubber sole on the heel and its just boost foam in the center where the bar would hit.

One of the reasons why zippers in boots break is that most people don't use a boot jack or slide to help push your foot in. What happens is the zip gets stretched out too far then breaks. This happens with fitted boots as well.

Usually it's the sole that goes, either weariing a hole or the bottom coming apart. The convenience of zippers though are SO WONDERFUL over having to lace up your boots! Minimalist shoes seem to be really expensive and I'm not sure why they are as expensive as they are. Love your content as I learn alot from it. However, I wanted to point out for last 5 years I only wear Adidas Ultraboost for my day to day. I walk on average 5-7 miles a day. Boost is the most comfortable shoe ever (although the new version from 21 and 22 not so much). The Boost has never ever worn out and is built to last. After 2 years I donate my shoes to charity and the Boost is always in great shape. Boost is awesome as it is comfortable and it lasts. Unlike Air Jordans (which are uncomfortable and do not really last past a year if you wear regularly) Boost is worth the price.

That's another symptom of what is wrong with our present society. People spending $1200 for ugly, faddish shoes. The strangest things become fashionable, even items that look like feces. If I saw those shoes, I would assume they were cheap. Years ago my son was bragging about some shirt his mother had bought him. I pulled an American made Pendleton lightweight wool shirt out of my closet. I said: this shirt cost twice as much as your cotton PRINT shirt, but is far more than that in actual value. I explained how the Pendleton fabric was made with individual strands and woven into the plaid. I said: I will still own this shirt, and it will be in fantastic condition, when we will be using yours as a shop rag. That was 35 years ago, and I just sold those Pendletons on eBay. I only sold them because they were too small for me. I still have the Irish made wingtips I bought around 35 years ago. I couldn't believe the low price I paid at a shoe clearance sale. Had a full sole/heal replacement which was more than the cost of the shoes, by a lot. They are absolutely beautiful, and look like new.
@dphotos007 Жыл бұрын
I agree on these shoes looking ugly and how they are a faddish shoe. I understand where people collect these as new and use them for an investment with the object to sell the new shoes with the box at a higher price later down the road. Spending $1200 for this shoe to wear is just ridiculous in my opinion especially if you need that money to pay your rent utility bills. Here is another opinion on these shoes even if I was to double my investment in a month I would still stay far away from the shoes knowing Ye/Kanye West or what other name he is calling himself this week because I am disgusted by his political and anti semantic views and that goes for the people he associated with too.

I think you've reached the point where testing these like regular boots used for work for example, has become unreasonable. The purpose of these shoes is clear, which is fashion. I'd argue a shoe that is much better than yeezy's is the adidas ultraboost 1.0. Amazing construction, colorways, and that little bit of hype that everyone in fashion loves to an extent. While they aren't going to be as durable as a workboot, if you take care of them and clean them they'll last a long time. The continental rubber on the soles is kind of soft however, so I put a sole protectant on mine to prevent the sole from directly wearing out fast.

Could you do something like a “Top 5 Made In The USA Work or Hiking Boots”? Work boots generally undergo more abuse than other types of shoes and so a focus on build quality Is paramount. Although I can’t afford these and will probably never own a pair it’s really cool to see how much quality went into them. The zipper issue is one of those things that seems cool initially from a style/design standpoint, it’s bound to fail. Depending on how much tension is on the zipper when pulling it up, like you showed in the pull test you did the zipper will always be pulled up when it’s on your foot so it’s gonna be stressed. Good on Mr Yeezy for producing a quality shoe. Good on you for putting a lot of work into your videos! I like shoe videos man.
