So, (hopefully) a funny story. I also have ADHD, but newly diagnosed at 51 and blood pressure is a big consideration with medication (oh god the medication helps so much 😭). I have terrible anxiety with taking my blood pressure because I don’t trust the machine to ever stop inflating, so I do it myself at home over and over until it stops being a problem. I use a nice video that interests me to distract me, this was my chosen one this time. I got my blood pressure down to the lowest it’s ever been during your video, amazing! But at the end when you’re wearing the back pack around with the creepy music, it shot right back up 😂 So, thanks for both of those experiences… I think 😅

I love him so much! As someone who has tried needle felting, here's my 2 cents on it: - You don't need a lot of supplies to get started, really only a couple needles, maybe a holder for a single needle for comfort, and a good finger guard (recommend thick leather). Shouldn't be more than 10 bucks or so for a kit. The needles occasionally break, but you'll get a few in a pack anyway. You can use styrofoam or something like that as a backing to poke on. There's some differences between needle sizes, but as a beginner I wouldn't worry too much about it, I haven't really noticed a difference tbh. The wool is the biggest expense, and the wool stuffing you have seems fine for needle felting. Brushed out dog fur can also be needle felted, eg into a tiny replica of your doggie. :) - Given how often you poke yourself with needles (I'm clumsy too lol, no judgment!), you need to know that poking yourself while needle felting is MUCH more painful than stabs with a sewing needle! Probably because there's more force behind the stabbing, and also the needles have a sharp triangular cross-section instead of rounded like sewing needles. I got decent at not poking myself in the hand as often, but would really recommend a finger guard for you. Also I do not recommend getting needle holders for many needles at once - it seems tempting to get something done quicker, but it's much easier to stab yourself. - I am not sure needle felting is quicker than what you did here. Maybe it would be if you don't want to finish the surface properly, more like what Rachel Maksy did for her needle felted Appa plush. For something that's smooth on the outside and firm all the way through, it takes foreeeeeever. I do really like needle felting, IMO it's very beginner friendly and almost like sculpting, great for smaller items and details. BTW I love your Australian accent, it's lovely!
@ashbentley2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️ I think needle felting would be really fun to learn and play with.. I'm going to get some starter supplies soon. I really love relaxing on the couch doing hand stitching (or cross stitching too) and I have a sneaky feeling that needle felting may take the top spot 😊
@lachouette_et_le_phoque2 ай бұрын
Ohh, yes, it's a great sofa activity! Especially for podcasts. I listened to most of the Magnus Archives while making a spooky tentacle monster plush. Watching TV also works, but it's easier to poke yourself if you aren't looking at your hands. Bit therapeutic to stab something thousands of times, too. 😅
@ashbentley2 ай бұрын
Ooh good tip, I really don't want to stab myself with those barb-like tips!

I started watching this before bed and had to stop before I saw too much and your devious creature clawed its way into my dreams. Having now finished the video, having seen its cold, blue eyes, I’m glad I did.

@@ashbentley yeah, no. (My shirt said that yesterday, ha). Trying to get doctors to take your symptoms seriously and work withy out to figure it out is disheartening… Especially when dealing with pain and strange and seemingly unrelated symptoms on top of being ND.

I'm not going to say where it is for your privacy, but recognizing the shopping centre where you went to buy a book is kinda weird lol like I used to go there all the time before I moved to another part of Melbourne

17:43 Suggestion for your dog when it's cold: get a heating pad. Dogs love them just as much as cats do, and if you put it on the low setting it can't hurt them.

Omg, this is so cursed. I'm so happy. 9:55 What about an educational stuffed anatomical figure you could let schools use as demonstration on how to use a tampon?.... Actually, I think that may scar the kids too much. 14:45 Not sure about Aussie dollars but in the states, you can get just the needles for like $6. I'm not sure if they're actually good or not though.
@ashbentley3 ай бұрын
Haha I suppose I could make the tampon more fun by putting sparkles on it? Also I think the needles aren't too bad but you need the bigger handle, the small handle and the mat and the hand protection and it just seemed like a lot lol
@Zeldur3 ай бұрын
@@ashbentley Ahh yeah. I only got the needles so I could attempt to stab yarn together and hope for the best XD. I haven't tried full on felting. I could add it as my 30th hobby I have supply for 🤔

My name is entered for the cursed backpack. Equal parts cute and creepy. _Thimble Recommendation_ - Please use one? The ideal is to get your middle finger measured for a ring, then you use that number (mine is an 8) to stroll through The E-bay until you find a nice antique thimble at a decent price with good shipping. _Trigger warning_ - I stopped putting pins in my mouth (mostly) after seeing an x-ray of a woman's head and throat. You could see the pin lodged somewhere around her voice box. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
@ashbentley3 ай бұрын
I also think I use thimbles 😅 That's a great tip for a vintage one! Oh that makes me want to stop putting pins in my mouth. I do worry that one day I'll sneeze or something and I'll die. I might invest in one of those wrist pin cushions. Also good luck for the giveaway! Thank you for entering ❤

@@ashbentley You could make your own wrist pincushion? Part of the fun of sewing is making your own kit. I used a leather bracelet as a base and, basically, sewed a rectangular "box"; attached two tabs to the bottom to feed through the bracelet. Done & dusted. I also made a wallet/4-fold hussif/housewife to hold all the various needles I have from random needle packs for the past decade or two. Everything is sorted into size and a section for the odd ones like for beading and upholstery. Even have pockets for the machine needles. Saves so much space and frustration. If you're feeling like an easy win, you could even do a video about it? My working sewing kit lives in an Altoids tin - magnet on the inside to hold a few pins, thimble, needle threaders, bodkins and a turn-of-the-last-century sewing awl (I've spent too much of lockdown scrolling through the e-bay, lol). And, happy to enter the contest. Fingers crossed, salt over the shoulder, incense offered, all that good stuff. I'll use it for a little while and then pass it on to one of our two late-teenager(-in-denial-of-almost-adulthood) God kids. Because I'm thinking it will make an impression in first year Uni, lol.
@ashbentley3 ай бұрын
That's a great idea, thank you! I do love DIYing something and making it for as cheeeeaaap as possible. Plus my sewing box is broken and needs an update too! I might follow your suit and check out ebay and fb marketplace for a vintage one. All the new ones at the craft store are garbage. And yes I think the backpack would certainly make AN impression at uni. Not sure if it would be a positive one 😅 They wouldn't make boring friends!

@@ashbentley Let your freak flag fly, baby. Typed as a Gen X. That bag will definitely make an impression. Have fun with putting your kit together.

I made a wrist pincushion using as abase a mason jar snaplid so I can flip it into a jar with all the pins in the jar for safety when I'm taking projects with me. And if you can't sew with your fingertip covered (I cannot), make a leather thimble, I use a 3/4" (2 cm) strip of hide and make a cylinder with it. Also, hi Cathy! Hope you're well! I planted over 30 tomato plants this year and may have some regrets..

12:29 yeah. Oil gives me skin boils and pimples on my face. Seed oils (like veg or canola oil in many cakes) are bad. I could go on about foods... to much flour gives me the flu, and sugar gives me sore throats, not to mention terrible mood swings of depression. I am only halfway through, but i know I'm going to love your rabbit bag. I love weird, creepy, wonky, and funny things. (KZbin recommended this, I'm sure I'll end up subscribing too.)

"I'm not very asthetic, and I'm not going to pretend to be." I think that needs to be a t-shirt... Yeah I catch on pins and stab myelf and swear a lot when I'm sewing. It's not a pretty process. And getting wool in my mouth, pthoo ptooie ptooie phthbhthb yuck. I've been trying to use a wrist pincushion instead of putting pins in my mouth, limited success. I love your beautiful cursed bunny. My rabbit will probably thump at it if I win it.
