Just to reiterate what lots of folks are saying, Rachel: 1) Take care of you, we will wait 2) Thanks for being so honest about your projects - it’s so relatable for those of us setting out in making things 3) None of us expect you to make something from scratch the week after a con. I’d happily watch something like an “unpacking” video where you talk about what you wore, who was there etc. Same goes for storage/closet/barn/house/baking/chatty videos. I don't know how else to write this. I love your content and (what I see of) you, and this is why I want to communicate this to you, in hopes that it might do something good for you. You don't have to make a whole project in only a week. Seeing you rush the end of your creations, be anxious about deadlines, burn yourself out repeatedly, etc., is becoming the new normal and it should'nt. We'll watch your projects come to life whether they take one or several videos to be completed without taking a toll on your mental health, and we'll be even more glad to see you not stressed out. Please if you could consider this, we will love your content regardless of how many part I, part II, part III, it requires!

If you have real life stuff you need to take care of, just do it and forget about us and youtube for a while. Make a shorter video of "here is what I am working on guys, Ill show you more in next video" and we are happy to just wait. Your reveals are always interesting anyway, we WILLL come to see it even if its a week or two later. Kisses.

RIGHT!! It never ceases to surprise me how different my perception tends to be from rachels. As a fellow perfectionist, I totally understand constantly striving for something "better", but i really was impressed by the project. It was so creative; there were no patterns and very few reference pics. Even though rachel says she does better at replication, i wish for her to get to a place where she can take a moment to realize that she did a REALLY wonderful job, especially given that this was outside of her comfort zone. Learning new things is really hard but for what it's worth i thought this project was extremely well-done

I often mourn the loss of society's ability to create things just for the fun of it, and you bring us back to that element of making something for the sake of doing it, instead of making things for an Etsy shop or other external reward. So Rachel, YOU SUCCEED by NOT being perfect! We love your imperfection, and your willingness to FAFO with your projects. Doing it wrong is how we learn what not to do next time, which makes the next project better, while keeping us from taking ourselves too seriously. That's what I come here for, and reading the comments week after week I am pretty sure it's what the majority of your viewers come here for. Wallow in your experiments, dear. Also thank you for the gratuitous Frodo footage, and leaving in the part where you accidentally spit on the camera and wipe it off. Hope the back-to-back doctor appointments were not a large source of your stress, and you are OK. You are precious to so many of us. Take care and enjoy what you are doing, even when you think it sucks.

Rachel, I've been watching your videos for years now. And I always come back because of YOU, not the success of your projects. I have been in my crafting/creating era and it's mainly been inspired by seeing your videos and watching you experiment and try. It's much more inspirational to watch your channel and listen to your candid advice and feedback than to watch any other crafting/sewing channel that doesn't show the behind-the-scenes, the struggles, etc. I just come away from their videos feeling overwhelmed and inadequate. But your videos open up thousands of possibilities while giving us a realistic view of what it's like. So thank you! Please take care of yourself, a lot of us are here for any and all of your videos.

@angelsinthewindow8 ай бұрын
@@SusanYeske701 Even if she did some propaganda movies, I wonder if she was really for what was going on around then. A lot of people forget that during times like that when dictators come into power, its either you go with it or you get killed off with the rest of the people they didn't like or were fighting back against them. Unless they were extremely high up in the chain, we might never know if it was a case of survival or if they believed it unless they have it written down and the records open to the public. (That does not excuse those that do crimes, but its something to think about.) It reminds me of a movie I watched in high school though I don't remember the name, of a Chinese family during the start of the communist timeline there and how they went with the flow for certain things just to keep their family safe. They didn't believe in what the government was doing, but had no way to keep their family safe other then that.

like many others. i totally think realistic timelines are "however long it takes to do it in a way that makes the creator satisfied with the result" however long that takes for a single project is however long that project takes. if you split the making of a project into two, four, or twenty videos over the course of a month, a year, or a decade, it will be a ride we'll all enjoy taking with you. there are lots of makers out there who do this multi-video format, and i really enjoy it. i'm not making videos with deadlines, but i am working on multiple projects at a time, and I put them down and pick them up as i have the energy for each, and no self imposed deadline has ever been met. case in point, i've been making a pattern, sewing mockups, and finalizing the finished details of nothing more than a numi undershirt knock off for 4 years. 4 years! i've had troubles with seam finishes, material stretch, my own body weight fluctuations as my health tanked half way through the project, and ordering material only to find out the material wasn't what it said it was (i'm looking at you nylon picot trim that completely melted into my ironing board after the seller assured me it was cotton when i bought it) i know this is your job and your income stream, so there's more in the balance than just time. but we'll all happily sit down and watch mid rolls for update videos from you to ensure you're taking care of yourself. TL:DR ... go at your pace. we'll be here.

Knowing I’m not the only one to feel that way makes the experience a little less terrible, and I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you brought ME a little comfort. ❤ Can’t win ‘em all, but let’s keep moving on, right?

Honestly the reveal looked really good at the end, but I absolutely get the creative burnout and wanting to give up on a project, and I’m very impressed that you finished, bc most of the time I just put the costume away and never finish 😂❤.

i really liked the colors, looks like renascence painting and more greenish seas and such, and the yellow sleeves with the black gives off seaweed/fin vibes especially in the reveal it worked really well with the environment

MA'AM that reveal was epic! You've outdone yourself!

I can't speak for everyone, but when Rachel does the "alright, team" thing, I know at least one person who always puts her hand out beneath her laptop's screen like a toddler responding to Dora the Explorer.

I hope all the doctoring things are ok., or more specifically, you. The outfit was truly wonderful. l loved the webbed hands - the application of black to the dress, hands and sleeves was brillliant! Just the right amount of creepy. The ears were interesting - loved them for that! Given a little time, I know you would have gotten them where you wanted them, i.e. to be seen. Your mastery of what suits your amazing (if I may say so) figure simply amazes me. Your sense of humour, and as one person put it perfectly, your "hijinks" are what we're all here for, along with watching your skills and resourcefulness. May you have an easy flow week Rachel.

Eeee!! Just poured myself a cup of coffee and I just opened KZbin and see a Rachel video?! Tis fate. Edited to add: I actually love the way the dress turned out! High levels of twirlability.

The little sanitary pantyhose/socks that they have for free at shoe stores make AMAZING hand webbing for sea creatures, just for future reference ;)

Just want to say, I'm laying in bed at noon on a Tues because depression, sipping coffee and picking at leftover mothers day carrot cake, watching this video and cracking smiles and feeling joy because you are just pure serotonin, you are the cutest damn thing m'lady. Thank you.

It’s insane that you weren’t thrilled!! Being a maker is so weird b/c we end up hating on some of our best stuff. This is one of my fav costumes of yours! ❤

Oh wow. Love these kind of vids but honestly, no stress. We'll wait a while for one of these. And points added while I am watching: get a proper desk for sewing. Honestly, it hurts my back every time to see you put the sewing machine on the coffee table. OUch. And gathering? Sew the panels together then sew two threads by machine at your highest thread length and a loose tension. Then gather. Sooooo much easier. Better for your fingers. Trust me, I started out gathering by hand. Nope, no longer. And next time just buy shells, I know you want to re-use things but shells break so easily. Trust me, I've made two mermaid crowns. Woof. And how often I haven't been glad I don't like light colors when handsewing (and getting blood on the fabric).. haha. Made some beige stays a while back. Dang. And I always try to remind me "trust the process". Sometimes that does not work, which is why I have some unfinished projects in a box somewhere hahaha. All in all I loved the video, I do think you need to take more time for some vids. I know the feeling when you have to crunch and start hating a project. It succkssss!

I love the idea of you doing different Greek mythology types, they have interesting combinations of creatures already! You just have to pick one of the interesting entities and your set, or even pick a random God & animal and then merge it.

You looked amazing Rachel 🥰 As always. I love your videoes, your vibe and your honesty. I dont like you not taking care of yourself tho ☝️😘 I want to see many more videos from you, and I think you are so talented. As so many others has said: spend as much time on a project as you need. Two weeks, three weeks, two month. I don't care. I just love when a video from you is uploaded. And yes, unpacking things, try ons or something else random content is also very much welcome. Take care ❤❤❤

I was so impressed with how well Rachel did! When she started describing how badly parts of it went, I thought that it looked wonderful to me. Maybe more issues would be noticeable IRL but it looks great on "film." Wonderful as always. ❤

Hi Rachel! Great video! But I kind of want to reiterate what others have said in the comments. I think it’s super cool to show how much you can get done in a week or the fact that you CAN make an entire costume in a week. But we aren’t here for those deadlines. If you have to take an extra few days to be happy with a project then please do so! We will be here for your videos 😊

Sorry this one didn't turn out like you had hoped! We will always love seeing the process, no matter what the outcome, and you're always the most critical of yourself! But I think this could be a fun "redemption" project in the future, if you will. It has so much potential! The dress itself could be used for so many other fairy/ren faire/etherial summer froest goddess/moss queen type of looks! And we know you're a sustainable queen who loves to reuse stuff 💖

I wish you had had more fun with it. It had rough bits, but the hands, for instance, actually looked creepier because of the roughness and I was admiring that in the reveal. Great location, by the way! You are always delightfully entertaining and I think my favorite thing about you is your willingness to try things in full view of an audience, without being sure it will work out, without needing to edit it to a false perfection in order to look flawlessly capable. I think I am not the only one grateful for the reminder that the point is to have fun, and failure to achieve "perfection" is not remotely deadly. Thanks for giving my Saturday morning a boost!

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (well in Sydney anyway) I’m just back from a party and emboldened by the wine, cheese and frivolity I thought I’d post at a time in which you may see it. Hi Rachel thank you for a fun video to watch while I wind down.

The dress itself turned out really well - sew the back up and it's a great dress for a summer event/princess-y thing. For colours and things... maybe go to your local DIY store and grab as many of those paint swatch card things as you can. ALL the colours, all the shades and tones. And just play around with them to teach yourself what works well together, what doesn't, what you like and what you don't like. I watch style channels and a couple of DIY channels and am learning what colours I like and what shades of those colours specifically. Not all yellows are the same, for instance. And it's not innate, you can learn it.

I wish we lived close enough to ...meet, ... hang out... commiserate... (without sounding like a creepy stalker 😂) Your honesty and grit in creating whimsy while learning to care for yourself and your health... means a lot to hear spoken about honestly and openly. I really appreciate it. You're creating a safe space for others to also be imperfect and honest about the messy parts of life ❤ Keep choosing the things that are healing for you! You matter so much. ❤

I totally get that feeling of disappointment in one's own project, but I agree with what other people have posted - don't push yourself so hard just to get it done! A part 2, Part 3 would be just as satisfying for those of us living and creating vicariously through your videos. Also, I thought the colors looked great!
